    hello Bob, welcome to the site. My cdi box got wet and did the same thing. Bike would turn over but not crank. Now if you cant get it to crank you could always put the old girl back on the trailer and bring her to NC. Im in kneed of some more parts fro my 91. HEHEHEHEHE seriouslt though these are nice bikes so hope it something easily fixed and welcome aboard. Anyways just sitting still and not cranking its still faster than a second gen. DAvid

    my only statement on this topic is that I just had to buy a new helmet. NOt because I didnt like it or I thought it was bad, but because it had a scatched shield. After a bad wreck many years ago I refuse to wear a shorty. All I wear is a full flip type helmet. Not as good as a fuul helmet but it eases my mind. Just try to get a new shield for a 7-10 year old helmet. Its darn near impossible. David

    Any body know what happend to salty dawg and krome rose? Havent seen them in a while in here anyways. Was just wandering where they are. They were one of the first to extend an offer to go and check on the inlaws so as to calm me and my wife down after we couldnt reach them after the hgurricane a few years back. And Ive rideen to M&E where they were present and had a great time with their fellowship. Hope all is well. David

    NOt sure if its the same from a 1st gen to the 2nd gen , but on my 91 I keep the Ic volume turned off and talk to whomever I want . They all seem to hear me. Hope this helps david

    Im running the shinko tourmaster 230 on front adn back on my 1st gen. not sure what the milage will be like as this is a new tire on the market, but it only cost 128.00 to the door or drop shipped to the dealor. I am so far impressed with these tires and have close to 2000 miles on it so far with no problems. I put the 404 on my wifes shadow as it was original to the bike, and it ride very nice. David

    what about a sensor type thing like they put on rear bumper of cars? You know the ones that warn you when you are backing into something. Just an idea. Not for me as I agree if the horn went off without me pushing the button I would probably wreck. David

    Im lucky, My wife doesn't want to be a passenger except on a few ocasions. She is an exellent passenger and is more comfortable back there than I am with her being back there. Guess this stems from her being a rider. She would rather be on her own bike beside me instead of on my bike behind me. But I do understand what you are saying. She is my world. The most important thing in my life.And to lay ythe bike down with her back there would destroy me . Even if she didnt get hurt. But that is her decision, and if she chosses to be back there then all I can do is do everything in my power to keep her safe. So just get on and ride . Eventually something will happen to make us all think twice.What you kneed to do ,in my opinion, is set down with your wife and be absolutely honest with her and then except her decision as to whether she rides or not. My wife actually had that conversation with me when she noticed I never asked her to ride with me .I told her that I knew she wanted to be back there on ocassion to take pics, but it quite literally scared the life out of me. She was un derstanding and helped me through my fobia. Hope this helps David

    glad to hear you are mending well. Guess we will finally get to meet face to face so to speak next weekend. Baring anyting out of our control. As always heal well and godspeed in the process to you and all involved. And lets not forget the young lady whpo caused the accident. Wright or wrong she ( if she nhas a heart) probably has a lot of guilt on her young shoulders too. David

    its not the watts she is wanting its the look. ANd If you are looking for more light get a silverstar bulb 9003 h4 I think was the type. I put one in my 91 vr and one in my wifes 97 1100 shadow. Loads more light. and a wider light to boot. Only thing that is taking a bit to get used to is the fact it doesnt throw a beam as much as it just put out more light for lack of a better way of putting it. david

    thanks condor....she likes those but wants the larger set.thet are not that much bigger but they are what she wants and its her bike so who am I to say what she puts on it. But thanks for looking them up for me. David

    cant remember which way mine is pointing but the way I finally figured it out was to take it out and look at it. There is a hole which I lined up with the lines . it was easy to figure it out once I pulled it out and looked at the flow path. Be carefull of that little ball. It took me forever to find it and the spring behind it. down side of this method is you loose the coolant. But I was flkushing it anyways so it was no big deal. If you are still kneed ing this answer when I get home friday I will go out and take a pic for you. as I remeber it is pointed to 2 oclock. David

    I've got an interstate in my buke now. Sealed type do the battery warning light stays on.(Ireally kneed to fix that but too lazy) Thjis has been in my bike for a little over 2 years. Now Im in NC so winter is not bad, but my wifes shadow had to have the trickle charger on it all winter if she wanted to ride but mine jusat sat there. So far so good but watch me jinx myself now. David
