    Good 3/4 Helmet with installed Headset and some tunes will cure whine, Syntetic oil will make bike run quieter and smoother, but whine will not go away. My Bike was chrippie, but after 30000 Mil's is complete gone, after 16000 miles went to dealer to replace clutch basket with model I. Now bike Purrr like kiten.

    Whatever Jeff Said Second that. Bleed , or maybe is time to complete replace clutch fluid. Clutch fluid is same as brake fluid, and any DOT 3 Or DOT 4 are OK.     once again all is related to your hi sensitivity mic setings. System is designed to dimm music when you are talking. Check out other post how to turn mic down. keep Pressing Select button until IC Msg on LCD Screen, and turn down with Volume knob. Good Luck

    Other option is to turn mic dawn, probably your mic sensitivity is way to hi. press cb Button keep pressing select button until msg IC on LCD screen, and simply turn down with volume knob. Hope this help My Intercom volume is most of the time 0 or off, When I'm Riding 2 up I make adjastmenys on the flyfor best results. IC Volume shouldnt be more than 10 -12 othervise will pickup more wind noice.

    First Thing to improve low speed handling Is to get rid of stock tires, sell'em on ebuy, and install stock size Avon Venoms. If you can flat feet seating on bike you dont need any lowering or highering kits. Belive me JUST SET OF NEW TIRES GONNA MAKE HUGE DIFERENCE.     Don't Know about 1st gen, but i have PIAA headlight bulb, from: http://www.customdynamics.com/motorcycle_led_bulbs.htm#PIAA_Bulbs They use same watage as stock bulbs, but way brighter.

    Have seccesfuly fix 3 rear tires with Mushroom type tyre plugger. Our Member WTHO, Wayne From Missoury Have Nail in rear tyre last year @ Don's Maintanance Day, and I have plugged his tyre, He have some sirious miles behin him and plugger works all the way. My Neighbor Harley Has 2 pluggers and 7500 mils without loosing air. My Rear tyre has one and after 5K works.
