Best of luck to you, concentrate on the big stuff right now, and that big stuff is you and your health, biking is secondary. Make sure you hang right here and keep us informed of your progress, which is going to be positive all the way. gunky:thumbsup2:

The conchos are Yamaha conchos, and the studs I used were, oh boy, that was 11 years ago.....I remember purchasing them off the internet......I think if you were to use stainless steel that they wouldn't rust, I'm not sure about the nickel studs that are out there....maybe someone else will chime in and offer some hints. The fella that I'm getting the bike from says that he still has owner's manual and all of the receipts that I kept, maybe the receipt for the studs is still there....I'll check when I get the bike, and if it is I'll let you know.

I bought a plain royal star in 1996, and dressed it up from there, the way I liked it. I was single at the time, and spent quite a bit of time on the bike. Well, I met Beth, we hit it off, she wanted and deserved a better ride(air ride, tunes, intercom, comfy seat and backrest) and besides, the extra horsepower, looks, and electronic cruise did not hurt my feelings either. Couldn't afford to keep both, so I sold the royal star to a friend of mine, but said that I'd love to have it back if and when I could afford it. He traded it in on a Kawasaki Vulcan touring model, and I lost track of the bike, but was told by the dealership that he traded it in at that the fellow that bought it lived in a small town called Coboconk, which was about an hour and a half away, at the time. I always watched for the bike, hoping to meet the new owner, but it just did not happen. We moved back to the Windsor, ON area, and it's been 5 years since I've seen the bike. Well, guess what? While cruising the SCRC sites of the Ontario chapters, I found my old bike, and it WAS for sale. WAS being the key word, because today the most recent owner and I came to an agreement on my purchasing my royal star back. Isn't that something? What the heck are the chances of that happening??? Gotta love my wife, she is letting me go through with this. We are going to travel about 6.5 hours next Sunday and pick it up to bring back home!!! Here's a link to the pic of the bike that he had posted...... http://forums.delphiforums.com/Durham261/messages/?msg=1729.1 Isn't it sweet? So, now I have two royal stars in the garage, my old 96 plain jane, and the 04 Midnite Venture. I am certainly one lucky son of a gun!!! gunky

anyone interested in some diamondr saddlebag light bars?
gunkylump replied to Cinderella's topic in Watering Hole
Those are awesome lights, and that is one HECK of a price. I have them on my bike already, and love 'em. They look great at night, no excuse for anyone not seeing you coming. Those, along with the stebel horn....kind of make me feel a little bit like a semi.... Anyone even slightly interested, grab them, you won't regret it a bit!!! Hi Cindy and Dale!!! gunk:smile5: -
Thanks Randy, we hope to make it there sometime Monday. We're looking forward to the usual warm, sunny weather and great hospitality which keeps us coming back to your area. The plan is a couple of days there and then "tourist" our way back north to home. Would be nice to meet you for a coffee or a ride while we're down there! randy:happy34:

Weather looks good enough for us! Our friends got in around 7 last night, we hit a birthday party, and I'm just waiting for some movement in the house now that the coffee is made! Safe riding here we come!, call you when we get back. randy:scratchchin:
-
Gary and Mary: Say hi to "Nanook" for us, and hopefully the weather gets better for you up there. It really is a unique part of the world. When we all get home, we have to get together for a "dinner on the barbe" and enjoy each other's company once again. randy:happy34:

saddle bag lid bras
gunkylump replied to foundryratjim's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Just around the edges...that way if I ever tire of the look or want to replace them, pull 'em off, get the goo gone and a case of beer and remove the contact cement....maybe randy:doh: -
saddle bag lid bras
gunkylump replied to foundryratjim's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I installed mine early this season, they were a "gift" from Santa.....so far, so good! They look great, and so far, not everyone has them, so they are "unique" and create some great comments. I like them, and I don't worry about Beth scuffing the lids anymore. Yup, a pain to install, but the end result is worth the aggravation. I actually cemented mine with contact cement, instead of using the tubing. Made for a tighter fit! randy:smile5: -
When I was looking for mine, I went to the local Harley dealer in Peterborough, I was living in the Lakefield area at the time, and went to the service desk and just plain asked if they had any. Got mine from the service manager!! randy:cool10:

Hey Canuck: I get my oil and filters at Canadian Tire. They carry the fram filters, and I use the synthetic oil that they sell. A little pricey, but good oil! Hope this helps a wee bit. randy:cool10:

Let the doc know...and not to intimidate him/her or anything like that....but if he/she screws up on you....I'll be there with a little green light of my own to fix things up......remember cousin Eddie in x-mas vacation???? Well.......only met ya 2x bob, but I'll fix things up with the doc for ya.....and no charge to boot! randy:crackup:

I totally gutted my RK's, and I love the sound. Actually, Beth wanted the bike louder than stock. It's got a great sound, not too loud, but you can hear us. The slash cuts look great as well! randy:happy34:

Hey, that bike in the first two shots is awesome..... Did I ever tell you the story about Rindercella and her two sugly isters???? Maybe next MD Cinderella, maybe next MD...a few beers, a couple of shots of.....some kind of tongue loosening liquor....and look out!!! it could be entertainment time.... glf:happy65:

Thank you very much Yama Mama....were you there when Beth let those puppies loose? Ooops, no that was up in Monroe......you should a been there!! I must admit, that woman keeps me guessing, all those quick change artistic like thingys going on....I just don't know what, where, when or why she does it......but I really enjoy being there when she does!!! Last time someone thought I was hysterical, I ended up in a loony bin for 3 months before anyone realized I was there....it was really great, I finally had a captive audience.....but I don't think too many of them got many of my one liners.........They finally let me out after the Big Indian pulled the sink from the wall, I completed my 14th electrical shock therapy(passed out with flying colors by the way) and Nurse Goodbody...er, no, it was Nurse Cratchet, flashed her @@'s at me.......I hated to leave after all that attention! The pleasure was all mine in meeting you and "the MAN"....we'll have to get together again some time when I can wrap you up in a straight jacket and bore you to death with all the regallry and stories that I have witnessed(made up) over the years!! Beth, the puppies and I will meet up with you again sometime soon! glf aka gunkylump p.s. If I can make one person smile each day, I am at peace with humanity, but on the flip side, if I'm not told to f***k off once a day, life just isn't as sweet and harmonious as I think it should be!!!

More Stories on the RSV Float Levels
gunkylump replied to V7Goose's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Hi Kent: I was one of the few who witnessed you demonstrating the carb float issue on Friday at Don's. To say that I was amazed is an understatement. Amazed, and somewhat intimidated also. I would not want to attempt pulling the carbs, and then setting the floats by myself, at least the 1st time, there is just a little too much involved there for my limited experience wrenching carbs. Although I do get impressive fuel economy with my 04 midnite venture, I would still like to check the floats, I am quite aware of just how important that is. That being said....Beth said today that we could be in Texas in 2-3 days travelling the superslabs.........it just "might" be in the cards to pay you a visit and go through some "Goose training" for a day. (nothing like a self invite, eh?) I'll have to see how vacation time plays out for us this year, we are going 7 days a week here at the salt mine. Beth was quite impressed with what went on at MD, and we will be surefire attendees from here on in, both for the camraderie, and the knowledge that gurus like yourself are more than willing to share. My hat is off to members such as yourself who are willing to share your knowledge and experience with these great machines. randy (gunkylump) or as yamamama calls me.....glf:hihi: -
Sorry we missed saying g'bye to y'all Don, we had a wee bit of a trip up to Westlake to the motel.....gonna have to work on that next year. AWESOME weekend!!! We stopped at an auto parts supplier just this side of Toledo, and they did not have the triple pack of gauges in stock in chrome......but I know what to look for now. Hope to have a set on the bike before too long. Great time!!! You hit the nail on the head when you said that if you haven't been to one of these doooooos....you really don't know what you are missing!! Looking forward to next time... randy and beth:bowdown:

Beth and I are home from MD, just one close call on the way back to the motel in Westlake Saturday night, damn cagers! The stebel air horn did it's job and kept us safe! Many, many thanks to Don and Eileen for being such gracious hosts. To ALL who worked tirelessly on the bikes, WOW! Words cannot do justice! We met an incredible number of people, friends, family.......it's great now to be able to put faces to names here on the site. Already wore my new T-shirt...and yes, the XL does fit! Garry and Mary, thanks so much for your hospitality, the shade, chairs, food and refreshments are all very much appreciated. Ian and Pat, looking forward to the six of us getting together for a barbeque and maybe planning something a little larger??? I'll post what pics we have later, I have to work midnites tonight, so it's off to bed for a bit before I go and pound salt.....again! There's always a bed and a garage with tools for the "family" that has adopted us! randy and beth:happy34:

They were sitting around the garage, gathering dust.....I am sincerely happy that they have found a home and are going to be put to use....BOTH SETS!!! I hope your hubby likes them, and it's nice to have a piece of chrome from Canada "up" there in the states!!! randy:happy65:
