It's not the parts, it's the accessories. I agree that they seem to be discontinuing more and more of them. It much be very disheartening to buy a new bike and find that the factory accessories are already discontinued. I absolutely do not understand how Yamaha cannot see what that would do to customer satisfaction.

I know what you're thinking Tom...you're thinking "I sure wish Don would come visit again"...well...it's not going to happen as long as that white stuff is deep. I actually need to go see a customer in Rochester but dang if I'm anxious to do it right now. I'm thinking he can wait until April or so.

I wouldn't mind doing it except that I've never used them so don't have a tire that I can have checked.

It just seems that it would be very easy to settle this issue. All somebody needs to do is put one of the wheel/tires with these beads on a quality high speed spin balancer and see if it indicates that it is balanced. It either will be or it won't be. Any "seat of the pants" type opinions are too easily influenced by perception.

Hey, I have no problem at all with crimp connectors. I was an electrician for many years and have used crimp connectors on wires and cables of all sizes. Including hydraulic crimp terminals of 6900 volt 3-phase motor leads. It's the those scotch connectors like the blue ones shown that I don't like. I have had them fail.

Those are interesting but I still think I would rather solder. I can see that those are for connecting two wires though, we need to add a third wire. I guess they make a 3 wire model also?

OK....it took me this long to remember where the heck to change the number of thread displayed. I FINALLY got it figured out so there should be 20 displayed now. You are a brave man Dingy....a deal's a deal....may you rest in peace. and Steve, I understand what you are saying. That is a javascript feature that I just don't know how to change though.

Well, I just hate the squeeze connectors. I've just seen too many that lost connection. I strip, wrap, solder and either heat shrink or tape.

Actually, there is no logical explanation. When I built the home page, I just had to choose a number of threads to display in that section. I just picked 15 so as not to make the home page tooooo long. Really wouldn't have made much difference if I had use 20.

Headlight Chrome Piece "HELP"

No problem. It's certainly not obvious. Yes, you DO have to split the fairing to install it. It's been a long time since I installed mine but I don't think you even remove the chrome piece once it is split. After you remove the front of the fairing, you will them remove the chrome ring around the actual headlight and the visor fits under it. The chrome piece on front of the fairing is not removed nor affected. -
Actually, Dingy did call ahead last time to let them know we were coming. The problem was, the people that he talked to on the day crew didn't bother to tell the evening crew. It is a big place but we probably should let them know.

No, I have not done mine but they are broken and I plan to do it this spring. Too cold in the garage right now. I assume you saw Goose's article on it in the tech library. That's what I plan to do.

Wally, Are you talking about the tabs on the chrome trim? If so, here is a fix that works very well. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=516 To answer your question, I would say yes. I think that many are broken during assembly and probably do go unnoticed for a long time.

No problem, i could be mistaken about what kind of thread it was. Either way, once it's deleted there is no way that I can reference it. At any rate, I honestly think this was more of a misunderstanding than anything else and am sincerely sorry that you were so upset by it. I had no idea.

I wish I could diffuse this situation but really don't know that I can. First just let me say that I'm sorry that Jerry feels the way he does. I hate to hear of any member who is unhappy here due to something that I said or did. I honestly didn't know that he was upset over this issue. When he replied to this post, I had no idea what he was talking about until somebody posted the link to that old thread. In regards to that thread, as somebody mentioned, there is always more to a story that what first appears. Now Jerry claims a couple of times that he was accused of violating the forum rules by using sarcasm. If you have gone back and read that thread, you will see that at no time did I ever accuse him of violating any rules. Sarcasm is often used to make a point, to joke, many other instances. We all use it from time to time, including me. In the days preceding that other thread, there had been a political debate deleted here. I don't know if Jerry started the thread or was just a participant in it but either way, the thread was deleted as are most political threads. Jerry made it very clear that he did not like the fact that it was deleted and that it was censorship. It was only a few days later that the Facebook thread was started and Jerry made his comment about being glad that censorship wasn't used here. Having just had the discussion about political threads and censorship, I simply commented that I sensed a little sarcasm. I did NOT demand that it stop nor did I say anything about it being against any forum rules. It was simply my way of saying, "yes Jerry, I am aware of how you feel about it". In retrospect, I probably should have let it go and not responded at all. When he again said something about not knowing that sarcasm was not allowed, I ended my participation by simply saying "no, sarcasm is not prohibited and I'm sorry I said anything". I simply did not wish to make a big deal out of what I thought was a minor issue. Jerry is not the only one here who feels that anything deleted is a form of censorship. It could be argued that it is indeed censorship. On the other hand, it could be argued that it is simply an enforcement of the rules and guidelines that are clearly spelled out for this site. Political debate, religious debate, nudity, pornography are not welcome here. That was a decision that I did not make on my own. It is something that I support and approve of but that was voted on here by the membership and approved by a vast majority of the members. I hope that this explanation sheds a little light on this matter and hopefully we can put it behind us and move on to more enjoyable topics. I have no hard feelings towards Jerry and never did have. He has a right to his opinion. He is more than welcome to remain a part of our club but if he feels strongly that he has been unfairly singled out and therefore cannot remain a member here, then that is his decision and one that we have to accept. If that is the case, then I sincerely hope that he finds a place that is administered more to his liking. I learned a long time ago that we would NEVER be able to please everybody.
