  1. did you have any of your personal imfo stored on your computer?? paypal or bank passwords stored? you may want to check it all out. around here they are stealing computers and laptops to get into people bank and credit card accounts and wipe them out before you know it. hope thing get better for you and you don't have a high deductable, don.
  2. the problem with lowering the tube and leting it fill and then raising it back up, is that the amount of gas in the carb and tube together put it way above the true normal level and it starts coming out of the jets and into the throttle body and on to the floor or table. the jig we set up worked pretty good, but like you said all of them were set toooo high. o'course we only worked on 1 set of carbs. if i get some free time, i have a set of carbs off my wrecked bike that i'm thinking about setting them up and playing with them. i won't be in a hurry to get them fixed to put back on a bike since they're a spare set. you are doing pretty good at what you're doing, the yammie people didn't think this thing thru and they should give a dry float settting like all other carb builders do so they can be set before installing them!! i don't think you're dumb, anybody that dives into these sets of carbs to work on them has to have a good bit of know-how to do it, don.
  3. you may have a warped rotor. you can look at it all the way around and you may see an area that's wearing or not like the rest of the rotor. the other way to check is to take them off and use a good straight-edge and lay it across the rotor and move it around the rotor and may see a low or high spot in it. you can take it to a shop and the can put it on a plate grinder and true it up. i'll try to get a pic of one i have and post it on here.
  4. goose, do you dry set the float while you have them broke down? i was working on a friends 96 royal and couldn't find any measurements to set the float by, it's a pain in the azzz to tear them down several time to get them right. we set up a jig the check them on the work table. i'll try to remember how we finally did our measurements on the dry settings. i think it was 16mm from base of carb to tallest part of the float(needle closed) and 19 mm from base of carb to the tallest part of float(needle opened and stop touching).
  5. check the bolt that holds the shifter and make sure it's not loose. also look at the linkage from shifter and bottom lever and see if they are loose, one is left-handed threads. you can put a little oil or grease on the shifter to make it shift better.
  6. try opening the gas cap and see if there is vacuum on it, it maybe the vent tube is stopped up. it's up on the front of the tank, you can blow thru the tube and stick a small wire or straighten paper clip thru thr connecter on the tank tosee if it's stopped up. if it's the vent stopped up your tank could inplose because of it.
  7. tibadoe, you must be from La with that name. the guys from a forum on delphi are having a meet in waynsboro, Va on july 4th weekend. you are welcome to come and visit and see a few venture there. check it out here: http://forums.delphiforums.com/vrider/messages i had an 01 venture for 1 1/2 yrs and 15,000 miles but totaled it. i also have a 01 royal star blvd that i bought new in 01 and has 67,000 trouble-free miles on it. wife and i went to sturgis in 04 on the venture pulling my trailer with all our camping gear and clothes in it. didn't hardly know it was there. wife loved the back seat and being able to do a lot of looking around. you can go on the yamaha web site and see where they offer test rides(sturgis, mb and other rallys). hope you find what you want. the web site for the dealer in cornth, Ms that has low prices(prices on web site is otd); www.lakehillmotors.com i bought my 01 rs blvd from them, great guys.
  8. can you post a pic of it hooked to a bike, to see how big it is and does he know what it weights?? thanks, don.
  9. it'll increase it about 10-20% based on what all you do to it and how it set up. you also need to install a dyna tech ign box to really do it right and get the max out of the upgrade.. i have the bak kit with pod breathers and dyna ign box and had it up to 115mph with some throttle left when i had to back off of it. go to this web site for more imfo http://forums.delphiforums.com/yamaha1100/start
  10. i have meet many friends(now) at bike nights, when i go to other towns and have time, i try to find out where they have bike night and try to go by. was going to hot springs, Ar and stayed overnight in memphis, tn and went to a huge bike night at joe's crab shack. had a great time and seen only 1 venture there, but that was '03. problly about 1,000 bikes went there(in and out). we stayed in the motel next door so i got to stay out till about 12 midnight talking to differant folks. meet my wife at one.
  11. looking goooooddd!!! they will hold a lot more tooo!! i haven't been able to lock my bags since i owned the bike(8 yrs) and never lost anything yet. had someone lift my cheap helmet off seat at local bar at bike night. figured some *@#^ needed it worse than i did. mine was locked in helmet lock, neighbor's wife rode there with me but rode home with husband.
  12. i'll take a couple too. let me know how and when to pay, don.
  13. http://www.alsmotorcycleaccessories.com/ these guys have a very good trailer, built well and lots of details to lasting. i've had mine for about 6 yrs and towed it all over without any troubles. great guys to deal with too and they ship it right to you.
  14. the hard plastic bags are not yamaha, they are made by someone else but can;t remember now who. you may also had some taillite extenders on the bike to move the liite back for bags to fit( that was the case on my wife's 01 1100 v-star that had the same set of bags on them). tour classic I had 4x4 pipes and the short bags you are wanting to put on yours and tour classic II had the 4x2 pipes and the large slant bags( same brackets for the hard bags). i had the large slant bags on mine and put a set of midnight venture hard bags on it, uses the same mounting brackets..
  15. my wife has 2 (01 &06) she's rode for about 5 years. we gave the 01 to her sister, but she kept dropping it and burned up the start relay. i got a suziki 800 for her and got the 01 back. go to the delphiforums site for the 1100/ http://forums.delphiforums.com/yamaha1100/start lots of great guys on there and has a lot of knowledge. they were having trouble with some of the filter relocater lines not being large enough to carry the flow good. great bike and fun to ride, i lowered both down for her, which is easy too.
  16. great job on keeping it up with passenger, i wasn't as lucky!!! she sounds like a keeper right there, don.
  17. Well, i'm post this kinda late, but hope some can make it. sat may 16th, i'm going to see my mother in waynesboro, tn and i'm going to hagy's fish hotel for lunch. it's just west of savanna, tn and close to where al/tn/ms meets on the map. there's some nice riding in the area, large flea mkt in savanna on hwy 64 and the shiloh national civil war battle grounds. the resturant is just north of the entrance to the battle grounds. i'll be there around 11 am. hagy's fish hotel 1140 hagy lane shiloh, Tn (hardin county) there's about 3 or4 shiloh, Tns, make sure it in hardin county.
  18. the rack that bolts on to back seat bolt and licsene plate frame is for the earlier models(96-01) royals but will still fit the newer(05-present) tds, but it will stays on the bike if you decide to take off your sissy bar. its also great when you solo out the bike and want to use it or not, just a few minutes to take off or put on.
  19. there's a few members here that has spare part bikes setting around. just find out whats going on and you maybe suprised what will show up for you.
  20. it looks to me as the gears wasn't aligened problly when assembled. the teeth should run deeper in to the matching set. the smaller set will show wear faster because it runs more rpms than the main gear.
  21. yea it's bad out there. i lived there in the 70s and we had a huge fire between conway and mb, but then there wasn't any house or subdivision there like it's now. it was all pine forest owned by the paper co and it burned just about all of it down. i was thinking the same as randy too. my sister lives in florence, and when we visit her, we usally ride down to mb for a day or two. the southeast has been in a drought condition for the last few years, but lately we have been getting some good rains to help out. the rivers and lakes are filling back up to normal in al but i think ga and sc are still on the low side. there's been a huge fight between the states over the water rights and who should have authority over where the waters should go.
  22. the last guy is the only one that took a half-way good firing stance when shooting. if you known anything about shooting, you know to position your body for the re-coil. they must have been use to firing .22 cal rifles.
  23. if that don't get it to where you want it, you can take out the bolt on the back of shifter, pull it out away from bike and move it a little till it splines back up and then put bolt back in and tighten it.
  24. i had the slant leather bags on mine, but swapped over to the venture bags. they are a bolt on to the frames you have, but the turn signals will be very close or up against the bags on back. you can bend them back to get clearance or put some felt pads from walmart between them.
