This damage can occur with a normal shifting of the bike? What is the cause besides poor casting from the factory? Anything else in there not kosher?

Does anyone have any of those neoprene face masks. The full face ones. How are they for comfort, do they move around on your face, are they warm, do they limit your visibility, do they cause your glasses to fog?

LED's in the tail light of a 1st Gen
mraf replied to Saddle_Bag's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
This is the info if I do this right. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=21994 I changed my rear brake lights with 2 I had bought. Went for a ride and almost was rear ended by my brother in law. Said he couldn't really see my brake lights come on very bright. He was right after I had looked for myself. Figured my life was worth a few more bucks than trying to save a few volts. There are alot more options for LEDs out there now compared to a few years ago. I would replace mine now if someone has found a bright enough one for the brake that makes a difference. -
You are not alone. Mine fell off the 83 I had. I found it though about a 1/8th mile form my driveway. My lucky day. Put it back in but made sure I used pliers to tighten it good. Gravity sucks.

Nice job. Very nice.

This is a picture of a Mr. Owl losing a tail feather at potato creek by another free living bird of prey. Where oh where can those tail feather be? How much of the road have they seen since that day? Better to be riding the wind than ranger roving, right Russ? You'll probably have a Zen experience if you ever get your hands on it again.

Back to the brakes
mraf replied to KarlS's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Do not overfill the master cly. Brake fluid will expand when bike warms up and apply themselves slowly. Don't ask how I know. No amount of cleaning will fix the brakes if master cyl is pitted. Good advice above on the other posts. For piece of mind I would buy another master. Bleeding the brakes on a 83 can be hard especially since there is not a place to bleed fluid at the highest point by the steering head. The 86 and newer ventures placed a bleed screw there. If I still had my 83 I would have done this upgrade just to make the process easier. -
You will only be out of a bike for as long as it takes one to trip your trigger. Then look out deer here you come again. Only this time lets hope that brake doesn't lock up. I never put falling down as my fault it's the sucking of gravity!

Yes, but only local and by word of mouth. He makes a few thou a year. It looks to me that it is addicting as everything else that man does. He started out small and now has steadily grown to a larger and larger operation. Top of the line everything, and boy is everything to do with Maple syrup production expensive. The end result though is quite tasty.

Ever since of hearing of your adventure for the first time I have been wondering how you have been doing. Perimeter of Texas? Only you Texans could make a Quest out a ride! Keep up the postings.

Enough already that you finally have something to look at besides that 50ish dash! Tape a air mattress to your dash and let the rest of you 2nd genners BS about that for 100 million years too. Yeah, now your kocking on the Goldwings door! OH YEAH!!!!!!!! -

Mine are here EVERY DAY. HELP!!!!!! -
Living east of the great lakes it starts to snow in October and will almost always snow a little bit on the first week of May. That is seeing some kind of snow for 8 months of the year. Hummm that leaves 4 months no snow. Woo hoo. 10 more years till retirement then I'm outta here for the winter. If I could only figure out when exactly that is. Right now we have potholes on the State highways that would eat the front tire of any bike. I could see base gravel in some of them. I LOVE NY. The guy that made that up must have been looking through his rear window.

Glad to hear your ok. Your right about the amount of time these kids nowadays can spend on first person shooter games. They are becoming more and more realistic. My oldest son who is in the army is very, very good at these. Almost to the extreme in reflexes and judgment. Although this can be a plus when used to keep in tune, it raises the question, what purpose on the developing mind are games of pure aggression good for?

Wow! I couldn't quite see to good up there so I used two mirrors one on each side. You won"t believe this but the carbs on my 1st gen seem to go on to infinity!!!!! No wonder the first gens are so fast!!!!!!!!:rotfl::rotfl:
