Keep yer eyeballs peeled on Cabella's.....they are gonna be launching a big sale on flannel shirts this month. Boomer..........who knows worn out flannel shirts are great for polishing chrome and make great handkerchiefs too.

You bring up valid points there Condor. Re-affirms my belief that regular oil changes and using a good quality oil filter is MORE important than the type of oil used. Gotta admit tho I use the high-priced Mobil 1 Synthetic but it sure helps the bike run smoother and calms that durn "chirp" down too. Boomer........the guy who does it his way on the highway.

Quasi-Scientific Iridium Plug Test (AKA "Magic" plugs)

No problem here Goose....I jest get a little testy when folks insinuate that just because I'm no professional rider I don't know what is best for me or my scoot. It's like someone telling me "I'm from the Goobermint and I'm here to help" Boomer......riding along with Iridium plugs, Synthetic oil, Butler seat mod, and Jim Beam in the saddlebags. -
Sounds like Hot Toddy Time.............. Boomer.....who survives every Winter because of Hot Toddy's.

On every Nuclear Submarine I served on there was a Lube Oil Purifier in the Engine Room. That unit was not complex yet it kept thousands of gallons of Lube Oil perfectly CLEAN.....so much so that when I De-Commissioned 2 of those Subs after 30 years of service they still had the ORIGINAL Lube Oil loaded on when the Sub was built. Pity we don't have oil purifiers for our scoots, cars, and trucks.....THEN THERE WOULD BE NO ENDLESS DISCUSSION ABOUT OIL...... Boomer........who knows choosing oil is jest like choosing a woman....sometimes yer lucky and sometimes yer not.

Quasi-Scientific Iridium Plug Test (AKA "Magic" plugs)
BoomerCPO replied to V7Goose's topic in General Tech Talk
For the record I will say that I have NEVER referred to the NGK Iridium Plugs as MAGIC....nor EVER claimed to get better MPG with them as well. Actually MPG don't mean squat to me because it is ALL ABOUT THE RIDE. For ME and MY bike I have noticed better performance; and certainly the plugs indicate that they break down at a significantly slower rate than regular plugs. Bottom line is that I am happy with the Iridium plugs and will continue using them. It is MY money and I'll spend it on whatever the hell I CHOOSE. Case Closed. Boomer......who knows there is no such thing as the PERFECT oil, spark plug, seat,or motorcycle.....but the Jury is still out on the perfect woman. -
Do I have a warrantee issue?
BoomerCPO replied to Busta's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
These items are covered under Warranty to the best of my knowledge. Check with your local Dealer and if that fool does not do right by you then contact Yamaha. I'm sure someone here can provide the phone number for Yamaha. Boomer.......who's lucky enuff to have a great Dealer and Service Tech nearby. -
Night temps are low enough here that we already have the Amish quilts out and on the beds. Boomer.....who has two words for Mother Nature and it is not Merry Christmas.

Just make sure the area is CLEAN before you apply the JB Weld....that means a bit of sanding.....and wipe the area with rubbing alcohol before application as well. In this case it prolly would not hurt to install a SMALL stainless screw INTO the hole before you put the JBW to the area. Do it right and that JBW will outlast the tank. Boomer.....who's seen JBW work well except on the MIL's jaws.
-
JB Weld gets my vote. I have seen that stuff used by more farmers to fix everything....up to and including cheating wives! Boomer........the helpful kinda guy.

Thanks for the offer gunboat but I have my own stash of that great hot sauce. I may be miles from home but relatives do send me "care packages" from my home State. Boomer.....who loves that FedEx Overnight Express !

Make sure you folks bring your appetite.....The food they cook there is pretty darn good I garontee! Authentic Cajun cuisine at its finest.....at least it was when we spent the day there a few years back. Boomer.....who knows good Cajun food will give you miles of extra "gas".

Our red maples have started to change into their Fall colors.....it is dark by 8PM.....night temps are dropping........and the squirrels are going crazy hiding nuts for the coming Winter. Boomer.......global warming my a$$....and the I HATE WINTER kinda guy.

In the 2nd pic she has a look that sez "Let's get this camera stuff over with.":rotf: Good looking pooch for sure.....Ya might want to name her "TROUBLE". Boomer.....who knows most dogs are smarter than people....and pond monsters too.

Man I would love to be in Texas for any amount of time! Altho I wuz raised in the bayou's of Loozeeanner as a full blooded Cajun I did manage to sneak across the State line for Bar-B-Q and.....ahem.....wimmen. Proud to say I got tossed outta Gilley's in Dallas no less than 3 times in one week. Words of wisdom..... "Don't monkey around with another monkeys monkey." Boomer........who now rides a steel horse that leaves no piles on the road.

I have a bit over 25K on the NGK Iridiums I put in the scoot. Pulled them last week for a check-see and they still look nearly like new. I carry an extra set just in case but so far so good. Boomer.......who's looking for something other than Jim Beam to give HIM that extra "spark"......and mileage......and performance.

BoomerCPO replied to waterbug's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Here's a few more screws to check that seem to come loose easily: ALL airbox screws.....and those rinky little helmet lock screws. Boomer.....who heard the "ping" of a helmet lock hitting the road and bouncing off into high weeds.
