Unlke second gens, speedometers on 1st gens is a must. Scooters that can't reach a top end of 55 like 2d gens don't really need one. But their whine will go faster.

I agree. A buddy and I was running at 95 indicated on our GPSs yacking on the cb not paying attention. We got passed by a DPS. He didn't seem to care we was running 15 over. Happened just se of Junction. Love it.

If you are near an Army/Navy Surplus outlet, stop by an pick you up a "willy-peter bag". Good waterproof large bag that your bag will fit in.

Motorcycle Etiquette: How Not To Wave Like A Dork!

Most of the time I just show them how old their acting. -
A 2nd gen couldn't even do 120 falling from a C-130 at 20000 ft.

Brad, Suggest you call AT&T. I believe both their tv and internet services are accessed through your a phone line. If you have a phone you can get ATT DSL. That's what they told me anyway. And their services are pretty doggone reasonable. But I am staying with my local broad band provider.

Who had done 800 to 1000 miles without a lay over.
MasterGuns replied to GolfVenture's topic in Watering Hole
For me anyway, the most important item you "must have" to be able to physically endure long rides is comfort. And for me anyway, comfort is dictated by the seat. If your butt can't handle the miles, neither will the rest of ya. -

Handle bar weights are designed to lessen vibrations transmitted to your hands though the handle bars. I would never remove them.

Lower fairing cowling-HELP!

And this is the way it was designed. This tab is simply for a rubber spacer; not a bolt or allen head or screw for attaching it to anything. -
I've read alot on this forum that Gl1800s are impossible to keep up with....Not true. My neighbor, a Fort Worth motor cop, has a 2010 model and my FJR1300 ate is 1800 for lunch both in a 1/4 mile and in the twisties. So much for that nonsense.

What color is the 91? I have one of the sides but can't remember if it is the left or right? If it is the right side, I'll let ya know and I also think it is blue and second color, maybe a lighter blue. Can't remember. But all the tabs are in great shape. Think I paid 150.00 for it about a year or so back.

Garmin 550 Bluetooth Capabilities
MasterGuns replied to MasterGuns's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
Thank you. I was going to look at the Garmin website but I am in a hotel here in Savannah on company biz and was using their computer. There was a couple gents waiting to use the same computer but had time to throw out that question. I will check out the pairing when I get home. I was just hoping I didn't have to spend the bucks for a 660. -
I have a question I hope somebody here can answer. Having just purchased a 2011 FJR, I plan to mount a Garmin 550 on an aftermarket helibar triple tree clamp. My question is: Is the Garmin Zumo 550 bluetooth feature capable to send (via bluetooth) to a bluetooth capable helmet headset? If not, will the audio out be sufficient to power a regular headset? I know the bluetooth works with making and receiving calls, just not sure about the MPG3 player? Thanks

Anyone here ride a FJR1300A? I am about to write a check for a new one; trading in my Harley. Also promised the boss I'd sell my 86 that I love so dearly. Just can't have two bikes anymore but the one I will own, will be the FJR. Any comments about the FJR will be greatly appreciated. Unless someone changes my mind, I'll have the FJR in my garage by Saturday.

Exhaust collector fix
MasterGuns replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Gary, I used two 1 1/2" tractor exhaust clamps, if I remember correctly, and I couldn't get either rear cylinder to not leak. So I removed it and used regular automotive muffler clamps. I had to grind those down significantly in order to get them both to fit in the confined space them must. Result leaks. I found two old Triumph muffler clamps that were also 1 1/2" and still they both rear cylinders leaked. With each different style clamp I must have installed / removed the collector two or three times. Hell, I can do it now blindfolded in about 10 minutes. After two full days of messin with the thing, I just gutted the original collector, welded it back up and reinstalled it. Lesson learned, some things are best just left alone. But she is back together and running great. I love the sound now. I haven't installed the ignitech (sp) tci I purchased from you cause I am waiting for the stock one to crap out. -

Heck no. I shipped it back to Mark in Hesperia, CA. Give him a call. I'm sure he still has it. -
Exhaust collector fix
MasterGuns replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I've had jardines on my 1st ed for short period of time. Then I thought I wanted/needed a Marks collector. Well after numerous attempts to stop the rear cylinders from leaking where they connect into the Mark's collector, I finally gave up. The fact that the Marks collector, when mounted, was about an inch, maybe a little more, lower than the bottom of the OEM collecter added support to my decision not to install it. This exposes it to damage and that is something I didn't want. So I elected to reinstall my original collector but decided that while I had it off, I'd gut it out. This is the current set up and it is slightly louder with the collector gutted; jardines before and after. But if riding normally, not haulin a>>, the additional decibels aren't that bad. Kick in the a##.....another story indeed
