Fork Oil Substitutes
Rocket replied to 84xj1100's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Also Progressive Suspension was previously known, to recommend using 15W fork oil. Not sure if that is still the same or not, these days. -
Ok here, using VLC Media Player. Started right away, without any delay.

So, most of the 2nd genners, will be buying them........

1st gen fork tube length?????????
Rocket replied to painterman67's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The progressive springs come as a set of 2, so you will need 1 set per bike. -
Didn't you mean to say, I got a tow rope and the 1st gen Venture can pull real nice, so I can keep up to them...... :rotf:

Ignition key mechanism?
Rocket replied to 6m459's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Mine has done this a few times over the years, I have only gave it a heavy shot of PJ1 cable lube in through the key hole & let it soak in a while. -
You sure it's a Virius??? I'm thinking, the new computer & monitor, could have possibly, been hit with a power spike....... That is why I run a battery backup UPS, to protect my computer equipment.

SeaFoam and Plugs
Rocket replied to puppy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The caps are on the idle mixture screws, not the carb sync screws..... You are most likely paying catchup, from the neglect of the previous owners. But once they are all sorted out, it should be a great running bike. -
2nd gear 70mph, 5th gear 75mph?
Rocket replied to Ga Dawg's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Probably a re-sync is needed, since the diaphram change & also check the plugs for fouling. Sounds like your running on 3 cylinders, as you should hit 75 mph in 2nd gear & at least 110 in 5th, with throttle to spare. -
Mother has laid his over on tires, to get at it... Yours was the tightest, that I have seen to date. A b**ch to get off, even with using leverage, but average to reinstall.

More like, it will be much easier to fix that collector rattle, than to find one. Pull the collector, open the bottom, remove the broken baffle & weld it back up..... Done, now put tthe fixed collector back in.

I think she needs a trailer, with that setup..... But it probably wouldn't be legal......

How soon can we expect to export you???? But maybe, we should send you a couple of states west, to keep Black Owl under supervision...... But then who will supervise, the 2 of you..... I think Sarges46, will be ok at that (considering his current line of work)............................. :rotf::rotf: -
Starting Problems HELP!!!
Rocket replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I have found that mine can be fun to get initially started, after trailering an extended distance. Possible flooding from fuel sloshing around, during transit??? Hopefully it is just that simple of a problem, with yours. -
He has a garage, it gets its yearly clean out, for the PIP meets..........

I get the winter stock ones, with the zip out fleece liner. As for the rain pants, there is a zipper, but are too tight to put on with the boots still on. In other words, sit down, remove boot, insert leg, put boot back on (I do it with normal pant leg inside top of engineer type boot) & zip up cuff on outside of boot.

Yup, been wearing them for years. They have always kept me dry in the very heavy downpours (cloudbursts) & thunderstorms, that I have ridden through. Muffinman has stayed dry in a set, that I sent him. Mini Muffin & Stud Muffin hasn't had a chance to test theirs yet........
