  1. I've been watching with great anticipation the plans for the 2010 IR thinking that this would be a great opportunity to meet and hang with like-minded bikers. Now that I've seen those pics, I'm having second thoughts. Very scary!! Ken
  2. I spent this last weekend with a group of Valkyrie owners in the Prairie Du Chien, WI area riding some really awesome roads. I ride with this group often and always ride at the back as designated sweeper. While I still miss the '98 Valkyrie Tourer I owned a few years back (when I initially met these folks), my satisfaction and respect for this RSV just continues to grow. I just can't think of another bike I'd rather own right now. 47,000 miles over the last two years and going (very) strong. Thank you all for the tech articles and camaraderie. I visit here daily. Ken
  3. I'm running E3s and am very pleased with wet and dry handling, noise level and wear. I think you're limiting yourself if you don't at least give them consideration.
  4. I'm in Yorkville and I've got a CarbTune. I'm fine with checking them, but have honestly never had to adjust them . . . yet. I'm sure we can do it. When you coming by?
  5. I purchased my '06 Midnight with 4,900 miles and the original 404s on it. I replaced both the front and rear (with 404s) after 17,778 miles before taking a trip out west. (The tires still looked OK). While on the road in Vermont last summer, I had to replace the rear again after 9,000. The only place in town with a rear tire to fit had a Metzeler ME880 and I 've had that tire on the rear for the last 6,000 miles. Before leaving for Daytona last month, I replaced the front tire with an E3. Put about 1,300 miles on it in Florida. I just purchased an E3 for the rear which I am installing this week. The Metzeler has only 6,000 miles on it and looks very good, but I'm committed to giving the E3s a try. More to follow as the riding season progresses here in Illinois.
  6. I'll be at the show on Friday afternoon. Maybe see some of you hangin' round the Venture, or checking out the Voyager!
  7. For me, when it's hard core ridin' music I need, gotta go with Jethro. Thick as a Brick and Aqualung.
  8. I bought the Carbtune a couple of months ago. I checked the sync and it was virtually spot on. This with just over 27K miles at the time. Glad I can now check at regular intervals but I'm never too concerned.
  9. What color is this GoldWing and are there some pics available?
  10. You should read this article: http://www.motorcyclecruiser.com/roadtests/0802_crup_harley_davidson_road_king/index.html The new Harley 96 cu. in. engine and six speed trans make a difference. Ken
  11. I would like to see the International Rally held in the Black Hills area, perhaps Keystone, SD. If held in June, the weather is generally nice and there is no shortage of wonderful twisty roads. Many sights to see including Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, the Badlands and Devil's Tower. This year's was rather East; seems fair to go West. Ken
  12. The weather has been OK for short rides here in suburban Chicago. My bike is still at my brother's in Michigan. We trailered from there to Daytona and back week before last. I'm going this week to ride it home though the temps look like mid-40s at best. I'll take mid-40s as long as it's dry. The riding season has begun! Ken
  13. Has anyone tried Bar Snake to reduce vibration on an RSV?
  14. I'm in neighboring Illinois and got out yesterday for a 40 mile cruise between Yorkville and Ottawa. About 39 degrees but sunny with dry roads. I simply could not resist and it was great therapy. Ken
  15. Congrats on making a great choice of bikes. I am a former Valkyrie Tourer and Suzuki 1500 Intruder owner and am very happy with the '06 Midnight I bought on Aug. 1st of this year. I live down here in Yorkville west of Joliet and I look forward to riding with you in the future. I frequent the Delphi forum, Venturers and Star Touring, but I prefer this site. Welcome. Ken
  16. I have both the Yamaha rack and spoiler with light and there is no problem. Ken
  17. Hi, my name is Lisa and while I don't like to admit it, I'm married to TrainMaster. He asked me to post that when he gets out from under his bike, and out of the hospital, he'll have that report for y'all.
  18. Hold on a minute Darkster, I'm going out to the garage now to push mine over. I'll report later. Ken

    XM

All this XM talk and nobody has mentioned Flight 26. Now I'm no youngster and it may be a result of having 4 children in their late teens and early 20s, but I find that the adult pop/rock selections are pretty decent. No hip/hop, but not traditional easy listening either; just a good blend of contemporary pop/rock music. Give it try . . . . or not. When it's not 26, it is 49. Ken
  20. I'm a Michigander living in suburban Chicago since '93. While I firmly believe those who ride should decide, I sure wish everyone would decide to wear a helmet. Ken
  21. Yamaha calls for changing spark plugs every 8,000 miles. I changed mine today at 12,441 and the old ones really looked good. Why 8,000? I will not consider changing for another 12,000 minimum. I welcome comments and advice. Ken
