  1. Hi everyone. Well, I finally renewed my membership. I've been on hold with the VA getting my knee replaced. Hoping this is the year to do that. Haven't been able to ride because it has gotten so bad I don't trust it to help hold the bike up. Hoping to get back to the riding this season. If not definitely next one. Not sure who is more upset, me or the my lovely wife. Hope everyone is still as awesome as every and ready to enjoy the riding weather that is here for some and on its way for everyone else.
  2. Thanks everyone for the input. Not ready to trike it yet though.
  3. Well, we were looking forward to finally getting some riding time in again after my 2 knee surgerys. But it looks like I will be putting it off for even longer now. The VA has finally decided my knee needs to be replaced and waiting any longer is pointless. Guess it helped that I had to have 2 surgeries inside of a year. Course the bad thing is my last surgery was June 1st, now I have to have the replacement on Sept. 20th. Oh well no rest for the wicked. So I have a quesion for anyone that has gone through this, how long were you down? How long after that was it before you were comfortable riding again? TIA Joe
  4. Thanks,:cool10: that seemed to get the problem resolved. Do you think I should give it a shot of SeaFoam next time I go to start it up? Joe
  5. My 2007 RSV is leaking gas (a huge understatement) from the front of the bike after sitting up for a while. I had surgery on my knee last year around June 1st and could not ride till March of this year. I had another surgery this June 1st and it went much better than the previous one. Anyway, I started the bike last month as I try to start it once every month or 2 when it sits up, with no problem. I went out today to start it up, it started, but gas came pouring out. I can't be sure where exactly, but it shouldn't be a freeze plug as the winter here was very mild this year and I had ridden since. I am not really handy with tools and am planning on bringing it to the shop, but wanted to have an idea as to what I was looking at having done. TIA Joe:bighug:
  6. I used to take my bike to Rad's on Nicholson over by LSU. Rad does great work and was very helpful when I had my old 83 VR. Unfortunately for me, back when he was working on it, the internet wasn't as helpful for finding parts. I avoided GN Gonzales as they were over priced and not conviently located for me. Good luck:) ETA There is also Friendly Yamaha on Airline Hwy between Florida and Sherwood Forest. That is where I got my 07 RSV and they do decent work and have had no issues. But I don't really know them. Lots of change over.
  7. Hey Don, I am so sorry to hear that. Deeta and I will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Joe
  8. Would be nice to meet some local Venture riders. Not sure what our schedule is:confused24:, but will try. May have to come in our cage though. Just had knee surgery and not sure if will be able to ride by then. If you wouldn't mind sending me a PM to give me an address, so if we are able to go, I would know where. I don't mind getting lost, but sometimes it is nice to have a destination - lol Would be good to see Gunboat again too! Joe
  9. It may actually be a problem with Outlook itself. We have to instruct our customers periodically to insert the Outlook disk (MS Office disk) and run the repair utility. Our issues are that Outlook is refusing a secondary program access to email. Just a thought. But I would do this on both computers. Good luck
  10. Thanks for all the support and ideas. Will try get that started. Just got a call from my VA ortho surgery rep - still no date for surgery, so she made me a new appointment for the next available clinic - June 14th. Good thing this only became a problem at Halloween last year.
  11. Thanks for the advice. Will have to try contact the DAV to see if they can help me. Almost 30 years of failure on my part.
  12. I have noticed in the past that several members are or were active duty military. I have a couple of questions about dealing with the VA. When I was in the USAF, I had surgery done on my knee and my miniscus carteldge was removed. The VA filed me as less than 10% disabled. While I do get to go to the VA clinics and they have done a follow up surgery, I am needing surgery again. The surgeon even says my cartiledge is gone and I should be on disability. Unfortunately for me, the nearest hospital is New Orleans. After Katrina, the hospital was damaged beyond repair. They are currently using Tulane Univ. training hospital but are limited on the number of days they have access to the surgery. Presently, I have basically additional floating bones in my knee area that keep floating into the joint area and creating a rather electifying experience. I am on the list for surgery to remove the particals as I am "too young" for replacement, but have not been scheduled. And truthfully, not sure when it will happen. My questions are: 1. How do I get the VA to upgrade, my disability - I have tried being reevaluated, but they just touch my scar and say nothing has changed. 2. How do I get the VA to move me up on their schedule, I have been waiting since Halloween and jonesing to ride my bike. TIA Joe
  13. Back in the day when I was a young man, this was Stone National Park. Me and some buds decided we needed to get the name changed. It only took us 2 years of peeing to get it changed.
  14. I see what you did there - Corn Maze. LOL:big-grin-emoticon:
  15. Very Sweet. Now I am considering this rather than a trike for my golden years. Which side is that, looks like the GTL version gold wing, is that it? :thumbsup2:
  16. Ok, I give. What is the major difference between this seat and the Butler seat. Was thinking about having him do mine to see if there would be an improvement. Now I need to figure out which is better and why. Also, does someone have a link for this type of seat? TIA
  17. Well, I am not as technically advanced as a lot of others here. But I will say, that most speakers that use ports tend to be for larger size speakers. I have several home stereo speakers (JBL, Polk Audio, Klipsch) and some use ports, some use a passive radiator (another woofer but no electrical connection - basically another form of a port) and some have no ports at all. The larger speakers (read woofers) tend to have ports or passive radiators and the smaller ones have nothing. That would lead me to believe that the amount of flexing by the bigger speakers in a sealed environment could be detrimental to the speakers (got to have room for the thump to escape). P.S. As an old rocker friend of mine once said, the B in JBL stands for BASS!
  18. Ok, I removed the passenger set to secure one of the HSH (Holy S**T Handles) and go to reattach the seat and I realize that one of the screws/bolts are stripped. I would be willing to accept the blame; however, it never tightened completed. Now I realize I can't get it back out again should I need to tighten the HSH again. That being said, again I would like to proclaim to the world my ignorance of all things mechanical. So now my problem is how do I get this bolt/screw without having to take it to the dealer and have him charge me for what they probably did in the first place. Or is this something that I am going to need help from a more mechanically apt and better stocked individual. TIA P.S. I was only able to take off the passenger seat because I happened to read in here somewhere that the bolts for the passenger seat was located under the driver's seat. P.P.S. I was also only able to remove the driver's seat through the gracious and kindness of another individual here who walked me through removing it on the phone - lol. Did I mention I am totally mechanically inept. It is sooo bad, that the Air Force almost did not let me enlist because of the mechaniccal portion of the ASVAB even though I scored off the charts on everything else. Again, TIA:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:
  19. Seen them several times as a "has been" group, once even with Chuck. Loved them back in the day. They are great! Their music was great! Even got see Chuck with the reformatted Blood, Sweat, and Tears. Both were great. I am sure you will enjoy the show. My social co-ordinator ensures that if they are playing in our area, that we make every effort to attend. Though she would much rather it be with Chuck.
  20. Paid for mine too. Looking forward to getting them.
  21. I do believe I will join the bandwagon. I would like a set as well. Joe:clap2:
  22. Well, I did check the kill switch, but that should not affect not having any power show up on the dash right? Same way with the kickstand switch. I am not getting any power showing up on the dash at all, no mileage, nothing.
  23. Thanks, really appreciate that. Will have to wait to test it. We are now short handed at work and working 5X12s. But my plan for Saturday morning for sure!
  24. Ok, first I would like to say that I have no mechanical ability. I am not embarrassed by this only frustrated. I have had over 50 years to learn to live with it. While I can do some simple things, sometimes I have to be shown they are simple. Sometimes repeatedly. Now that I have gotten that off my chest, what tool to I need to remove the seat on my 07 RSV? I need to get to the batter, it is dead. I think I have found the bolts on the bottom side, but can't seem to get to it with a wrench and it doesn't look like there is enough room to get to it with a socket. I truly do not want to have to get the bike towed to the dealer to change a battery. But am almost desperate enougt to call the Yamaha Road Side assistance and take the abuse so I can start riding again. Not sure why this is so much harder to get to than my old 83VR. On a related side note. I did have a trickle charger hooked and it shows charged, but I got no electrical response from the bike. Maybe it is something else? Thanks
  25. Wow, that looks great. Unfortunately, we have suddenly started working on Saturdays at a family business. Killing most free/fun time. Hopefully this won't last too much longer so we can start having fun again.
