  1. If you're running straight pipes you can be certain you're more than a little annoying to some. And a little loud may be an understatement.
  2. I guess this is what I was alluding to but you said it better. I've read several articles where it talks about dropping helmets and when it should or should not be replaced. Didn't seem like the OP's was one but if you can afford it and you just want a new helmet then by all means enjoy.
  3. Probably not fair to say your friends were hassled for running with blue lights. In many states blue lights on any vehicle are illegal for obvious reasons. The officers were just doing their jobs if they stopped them. Now red lights, at least on the back of the bike should be no problem.
  4. Why do you need to replace it? I can't believe a drop like you're explaining is need for concern.
  5. Indeed it is. Thank you.
  6. Unless I'm losing my mind I read a couple weeks ago some posts about a seat cover that a few guys were saying good things about. It's filled with air. Now I can't find the posts. Any idea if I saw it here or not?
  7. I never had any problems on my 2 visits. Maybe it's the fact I am 6'5 and 275 and look like a cop. Also I traveled with several other cops so we felt pretty secure. It's an interesting place but I'd never live there or waste an entire vacation there.
  8. I've been there twice in the last 3 years for a seminar. We took a coupld days to sight see. It's definitely a different place. If you're into people watching this is the place. We did do the buffet lunch at the Bellagio and that was some unbelievable food. It's the type of place that I really have no desire to go back to see anymore.
  9. Thanks for the suggestions so far. I'll definitely get the CO bracket. Does anyone know that if I switch to a LED light for the rear brake if I'll need to do anything with the wiring or will the current set up suffice? As far as tires being mounted I've been told Coleman Powersports in Woodbridge will install each for $30. Guess I should confirm.
  10. I am in the process of trying to figure out how I will modify my 2004 RSV before taking off on my 30 day ride this August. I am not a good mechanic, hell I'm not even a good backyard mechanic. I'm looking for "Plug and play", if this is the right term, for front and rear lights. I'm looking at either adding passing lamps in the front or changing to a HID light for increased visibility. I don't ride at night so visibility to cagers is my biggest concern. I'm looking for some type of new lights for the rear-I guess a LED brake light and turn signals if they exist. I'm also looking to replace the stock horn if there is one that can be added without a lot of modifications needed. Also, (sorry) also looking to order brakes on line for the bike. I have someone who will help me put these on. I'd also appreciate suggestions on replacement tires and where the best place to order them. To summarize: Front lights: Passing lamps or new HID light? Rear lights: Horn: Tires: Front and rear brakes: Thanks all
  11. Don't know if this is true regarding spyware or not but when researching on Google last night this was a recommended way to rid my PC of the Trojan and it worked. The suggestions coming from different people were all leading to spyware doctor as many of the other ways would not remove the problem.
  12. First off. I have Norton 360 Anti-Virus on my laptop. Yesterday I was on Google looking for an address when all of the sudden my anti virus popped up warning me I had a trojan attacking my computer. It was called Trojan.win.agent32.azsy. This screen looked so much like my Norton that without thinking I clicked on whatever button was prompting me to push. It all looked legit then I was prompted to purchase additional anti virus protection to rid my PC of this attack. It was then I realized something was going on. I was getting pop ups with all kinds of warnings but I ignored them and googled the trojan mentioned above. Turns out this is an on-going problem which can cause some major problems if you don't get rid of it. I was able to purchase on line Spyware Doctor which was reported the best way to fix the problem. It did work for me but I also read that it doesn't always work. So beware when you start getting these pop ups and make certain they are legit before pushing any buttons. BTW. Norton did not stop the attack. If you Google Personal Antivirus you'll see what the exact problem is.
  13. Steve, How ironic. I'm retiring at the end of July and taking a solo 30 day ride to the New England states from Va. Maybe we can hook up one day. I've already posted on here letting the guys know and I've already got several invites for a room or one day riding partners.
  14. I normally stay out of these conversations as many people think I'm just taking up for my profession. Here is my one post them I'm out. There is no doubt some small towns and cities who may get a portion of the monies taken in from writing tickets but for the most part the money goes into things such as education, general funds, everything but police and accounts such as that. And the one where someone says it goes to a judges retirment fund has got to be bunk. Talk about a serious conflict. I'd lay money down this is not true.
  15. I used tp put Cinnamon on a bowl of cereal due to my Diabetes. This was believed to help in this regard. Well, a large study was released last year showing that no benefit was found from the use of Cinnamon with diabetic users. Not sure how it may or may not work with the other issues though.
  16. If I had the garage or facility for this I wouldn't hesitate.
  17. Thanks. I appreciate this.
  18. Is there anyone here in the Northern Va area that is good at working on the Yamaha's? I'm leery of the local shops and would like to find someone to help with some things. Carb sync and things such as that. I'm willing to pay if you're available.
  19. So when it comes to synching the carbs is this something that needs to be done on a routine basis or when a problem occurs? I've the the 04 RSV I purchased in 06 and have never had it done. I don't have any problems with the way it's running but with my long trip coming up I'm wondering if I should have it done.
  20. Can you come to Virginia and set mine up????
  21. Thanks all. I'll be looking into a few of these suggestions.
  22. Not sure what the model/brand. Didn't really look at it that close. And yes, this one was not waterproof which is another negative for it.
  23. I'm plugging a line into the GPS/XM to the aux port on the cassette player.
  24. Sounds like you met up with a bunch of A holes. Some people are clueless and these riders are probably the most clueless ones.
  25. Lilbeaver, Thanks for the congrats. Appreciate it. I'll admit right up front I am not a techno geek so electronics is not my thing. I thought the guy at the shop said nothing would boost the sound and I really believe he was leveling with me. From the looks of things they do not need my business. I'll ask about the FM transmitter.
