  1. I am retiring from my job this summer after 30 years. I will of course get another job and start a 2nd career but before doing so I have the blessings from my lovely wife to go on a 30 day ride on my RSV. This ride will start at the beginning of August. Due to the heat/humidity I'd rather not go south. Besides, I'm from the south and have seen much of it. I'm trying to decide which way to go-West or North where it should be cooler. Due to back problems I will probably average no more than 300 miles or so a day but maybe up to 400. I'll stay at the cheapest hotels I can find to save money. Anyone have any thoughts on which direction I should go based on personal experiences?
  2. I've seen politics practically ruin some other good MC forums so I see no problem with banning it here.
  3. May he be with God now and may God be with his family.
  4. Posed pic. Well that splains it all. Good for him.
  5. He's definitely riding for a good cause and I applaud that. But he's riding in snow, ice, salt and God knows what else with no helmet on. Hope he has good insurance. I wonder if he's wrapped tight enough riding with no helmet in -40 below. I was on a snowmobile this week in Northern New Hampshire at -22 below and had to open my visor a few times due to fog. My face hurt so bad after a minute or so that I was forced to shut the thing.
  6. If this has already been resolved then I apologize. I didn't read the responses. This is just a portion of a French K9 team demo. You can find the entire video on youtube. This should be it. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeS9wf9weH4]YouTube - Malinois Training French Police[/ame]
  7. I've said my piece and I thought I was respectful about doing so. By posting what you're posting here you are keeping the topic going and in a less than respectful way.
  8. Thanks for the explanation on OPE. I won't be bidding but thanks for the offer.
  9. I should add that I've recently lost my Dad who was a heavy smoker. Lost him to Cancer so I obviously have some problems with smoking.
  10. Not sure what the OPE fund is and I'm sure you mean well but I disagree with this. Assisting someone in hastening their death by smoking is not something we should be doing. I don't know you and I've no doubt you're a good person based on what I've seen you post so please don't take this as a personal affront to you.
  11. Thanks Raceman. Sounds like a plan. Just let me know. Some good suggestions overall in here.
  12. First off let me apologize if this has been discussed at length in the past but I really don't feel like doing a search and trying to get all my questions answered. I keep my RSV in a detached garage which sits on the lowest part of my front yard. Due to this slope water will build up after a big rain on the concrete floor. My garage has so much stuff stored in it (small house) that I back the bike in and it has little space on either side of it. I'd like to get the bike off this floor during the non riding months and am looking for a decent (meaning not too expensive) bike stand for a RSV. I'll be putting the bike on the stand by myself so I need one where this works. Any suggestions? BTW. It's 68 degrees here which we rarely ever see at this time of year and I'm too sick to ride. This sucks.
  13. I visited this dealer today and walked away feeling good about it. The prices on the clothes and riding gear seemed a little high but it doesn't bill itself as a discount dealer. It DOES have a service department which I said earlier I didnt think it did. And most importantly, it's not at all associated with Coleman Powersports. It's owned and operated by members of the Colgan family who have been in Manassas forever. Very well known family with the grandfather being State Senator Colgan.
  14. Nice indeed.
  15. The name of the new dealership is Colgan Powersports. www.Colganpowersports.com Hopefully it's not related to Coleman Powersports.
  16. Better bring me along so someone can keep the peace.
  17. I live very close to the start of Skyline Drive in Front Royal, Va. so I get to ride that whenever I want. I've yet to ride the BRP on my bike though. But, from being on three MC boards it's an overwhelming majority who say the BRP is a better ride over the Skyline Drive. If that's so I can't wait to ride the BRP. Skyline is a beautiful ride but most everyove votes for BRP as the better of the two.
  18. Thanks for this rendition. Stunning to say the least. I grew up singing this song and admiring this song and it's always been a favorite. I've been to many funerals of police officers killed in the line of duty where this is usually played on bagpipes. You won't find a dry eye around when this is done. I also love the rendition sung by the Statler Brothers.
  19. I won't get a chance until later in the week but I'll get there one day and make sure it's open and see what they have. I'll post on here what I find.
  20. For the Yamaha riders around the DC area. There is a new Yamaha Dealer opening any day now in Manassas Va. It's at the intersection of Wellington Road and Nokesville Rd on Wellington in case you GPS it. If it's not open it looks like it will open any day now. Sorry, didn't see the name as it was dark outside.

I wish I could find an old article I read in Readers Digest several years ago about Forgiving somone. The author was very good. Basically he or she said forgiving someone was overrated. I can't stand when I listen to people say they've forgiven this person for killing their kid, or that person for committing such and such crime. That BS. It's not up to me, IMO, to forgive someone for a discretion against me or my family. If GOD wants to forgive him then fine but don't ever expect me to forgive them. If this scrotum gets out of jail and does something to improve his life then fine, he's doing something worthwhile. But forgiveness is not something I'd ever be interested in granting him.
  22. Seven minute video that's worth watching. Turn your speakers up. If you don't like patriotic tear jerk things don't watch this. It's a 9/11 tribute. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZFkZiwMLZ4]YouTube - Hero performed by Michael Israel in New York[/ame]
  23. If you're ever in the DC area you should make Arlington Cemetary a must see. I'd rather visit here than seeing most of DC. I am fortunate to only live 20 miles from the place. The wreaths are beautiful and if you ever get a chance you have to see the Changing of the Guard. It's a sight to behold.
  24. We are renting them from the lodge where we're staying. Sounds like it will be a blast.
  25. The wife and I are flying/driving to Pittsburg, NH in January to go snowmobiling. Anyone know this area?
