Name of Restaurant Kac Ka Pon Street Address 395 E. Main St (RT 55 at RT 259) City Wardensville State or Province WV Website (Optional) www.kackaponrestaurant.com/ Quality of Food Great Quality of Service Good Biker Friendly? (Parking, Trusted Location, Etc.) Yes Kind of Food? (Mexican, Chinese, etc.) America-Home style Alcohol Served? No Additional Comments This is on Rt 55/28 in West Va maybe 10 miles from the Va line. It is almost where 259 opens into 4 lanes. I've eaten here twice now while on a ride. Had Roast Turkey with dressing and gravy with rolls, sweet potato casserole and green beans. All very good. It was very busy today so service was slow but the ladies are very nice there. Will stop again. Price for the meal above with Iced tea was less than $12.00.

Ok. I'm sure the problem is the user-ME, but I'm trying to post a West Va. review but can't figure it out. I go to the West Va. board and don't see the form to fill out. Is it me or is this state not ready for reviews?

If you are in the area of Petersburg W. VA. make sure you check out Smoke Hole Rd. It's off Rt. 55/28 on the west side of Petersburg. I rode this last fall and what a gorgeous road. There are so many roads in this area of Va. and W. Va that you can't go wrong. I will be going back to Smoke Hole Rd to ride again though.

Unfortunately many names on the Police Memorial Wall in DC are officers from small towns such as Sioux Falls. Small town cops may not have all the training and equipment as some bigger agencies but that doesn't stop the officers from dying in the same way as their brethren in the larger departments. I'm not criticizing what you said, just pointing this out.

Is the title actually Taking Chance? I don't have HBO so I'll have to ask someone to record it for me at work.

Thanks to an earlier post I now know how to subscribe to this topic so I don't lose it. Way to go Don.

Damn you people are fast. Thanks

Hairman, No expert here but I can do that. Hi lite the web address then hit ctrl c. Put the cursor in the box here and hit ctrl v. Works every time for me. Or you can just do the cut and paste method. Mine is just a short cut.

Okay all. I posted a while back that I am retiring August 1 this year and am going out on a 30 day ride. I'll leave Northern Va. and my plan is to head north into Canada and stay off interstates as much as possible. Does anyone here have any favorite trip planning tool they have had good success with. Especially for someone who tends to be less than patient anf less than a net expert. Any advice would be appreciated. I did find the Harley Davidson Trip Planner someone on here recommended and will look at it as well. Thanks

I'm glad I found this as I was just getting ready to ask the same questions. One other thing. How do you load songs on a MP3? I'm aware there are sites where you pay for downloads but I was wondering if I could downlaod some of my CD's onto my computer then onto the MP3?

Be careful coming thru the DC area at the wrong time of day. If it's a weekday you'll want to be stopped for the night or thru the area completely by 4PM at the latest. Or wait until 730-8PM to come thru. Even then you're taking big chances if you're using I95.

I seem to be the bearer of not so good news lately!

Tell him I'm pulling for him. Tell him my 50 year old sister recently went through the same thing and things looked bleak (physically) for a while but she's done very well and is back to work and is doing just about everything she did before. -
Apologies if there is a topic already discussing this but I couldn't find it. I'd like to replace the AM/FM on my 04 RSV. I can't stand the one currently on the bike and would like to find something easier to use. When traveling I'd like to be able to hit a scan button like I do in my car. The one on the bike now is still confusing to use and it's time to go. Has anyone here replaced the stock system with something better. One that won't take a lot of modifications as that is not my cup of tea. I don't mind the speakers on the bike although they could always be better. My issue is with the radio.

My gain was unfortunately at the loss of another. Husband to wife's friend at work was dying of Cancer. He wanted to sell his 04 RSV before he died since it was in his name only. The wife wanted nothing to do with the bike. He owed a certain amount on the bike (this was 06)and he knew I was looking for a bike. He offered it to me if I'd take over payments. The bike was worth considerably more that what he owed but he refused my repeated offer to pay more. Have been riding in style ever since. RIP Tex.

I wish I could but it's unlikely. You could pass within earshot of my house in Northern Va. so let me know. I could possibly be in Fla. on a family vacation in July but check with me anyway.

Damn Don. I was all set to take back a compliment I paid you in an earlier post. Guess I can leave it here now.

For those discussing upper Michigan I remember driving what was called the northern route when my kids were little. We'd drive from Va. to Minn. and we did this route. It's been a long time but I do recall it being a beautiful area.

This site and the members never cease to amaze me with its generosity. I belong to a couple other MC sites and this would never happen this way. Don should be proud of what he started.

Lots of great suggestions here folks. I'll definitely refer to these tips as I plan my trip. I'm so conflicted on where to go that this will be a hard trip to plan.

I do love that area but will probably not head south.

I like your suggestion. I know the wife would kill me if I tell her I'm taking this route. I've been in K9 for 23 years and have traveled quite a bit (by plane) to K9 events around the country and never once has she expressed an interest in joining me. A couple of years ago I told her I was going to New Hampshire for a seminar in October and she promptly told me she would be joining me. :-) We took a few days and went early to do some sightseeing. I do love the New England area and have been wanting to tour it on my bike. I'd definintely would enjoy it if any VR members wanted to tag along for a day or so,
