  1. Looks like an energy waster to me with the big wheels and the transfer system. Can you imagine going 60 and a computer glitch?
  2. I used a universal joint from a gm steering column in my trailer. It swivels up and down and left and right but the trailer leans with the bike. I honestly did forget it was back there. Started to turn around to look for a buddy that had disappeared and as I was backing up I felt some pressure and remembered it. Had it at a right angle at that point.
  3. Sounds like feedback. Try turning down the IC volume.
  4. I pull a single wheel trailer and it is about as easy to forget it's back there as an invisible trailer.
  5. My tastes have changed since I bought my Venture in 2002. Now I lean towards a Super Tenere but my cheap nature won't let me get a new bike until this one is worn out. At 94000 miles I see no sign of that. One good thing about Yamaha not changing the design is there are lots of used parts that will definitely fit. I ride mine regular even through the winter so the carbs have never been an issue. It starts and is ready to go in 10 seconds even with the carb heaters disconnected.
  6. Is the voltage about 13.5 volts when it is running and does it stay there? My original battery lasted about 4 1/2 years. The second one didalso. My third one gave up early but then shortly there after my regulater went out and might have been going out before and contributed to the battery failing. Or the battery failing might have contributed to the regulater failing. While I was figuring out what was wrong with mine I realized that it would show that it was working but inside of 30 miles it would quit. By it I mean the regulater. I also found out that a regulater can pass accepted tests and still be bad. If it fails the tests then it is definitely bad but if it passes it might still be bad. Must be why Yamaha doesn't put a test in the manual.
  7. Did you have some of the cookies they make from their own flour at War Eagle? I have been wanting to go back just to have some more. I was there over Memorial day weekend.
  8. I always stop for a while after getting stung while riding just to make sure I don't have a bad reaction. Never have but I had a sister that had to take a shot after getting stung.
  9. The fact that it is clean says shock to me. When mine failed I had a pretty big puddle right under the shock which just happens to be close to where those vent hoses hang.
  10. The DR handles like a sport bike in the twisties and it handled curves very well with that combo.
  11. I have lots of things I could say but this thread is probably going political and I quess I won't contribute to that.
  12. When I got my Dr650 it was set up that way with Metzeler Tourances. Handled great. When they wore out I didn't want to spend that kind of money so I replaced them with Kenda bias tires. It is so light compared to the Venture I don't worry about keeping the best on like I do with the Venture.
  13. Or hover over the picture you want to post. A field will open up with several choices. I click on the one that says IMG Code. It will copy the code and then you can paste it into a post here. I usually open two windows. One for photobucket and one for Ventureriders. http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/ad166/midnightventure/SkylineRidge2.jpg
  14. I didn't see a Venture listed. I have a foot operated lift for my DR. The DR just ways about 360 lbs and I have to put all my 220 on the pedal to operate it. That Burgis lift would probaly have to be made a little different to lift an 860 lb bike.
  15. They might be fixing for half price or replacing under warranty but the fact is a lot of their stuff breaks.
  16. I have always been suspicious of dyna beads and this just reinforces that. Personally I will continue to use lead weights to balance my tires when I mount them.
  17. They sell very cheap cars in India too. Made by Tata. Cheap labor and no safety standards.
  18. I have had luck calling MODOT and complaining. They usually get out and adjust things fairly quickly. We are allowed to run the lights here. If I pull up and there isn't any traffic and it doesn't change pretty quick I usually go ahead and go. Bigger problem on the DR than the Venture.
  19. I am suspicious too. First post and saying something like this. He doesn't have a clue how much time Don puts in to taking care of things.
  20. The Cops tv show is one of the reasons my opinion of cops has gone down hill. I have not watched it very often but the way they bully and abuse people when they know it is being filmed leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
  21. I second the blow dryer.
  22. When I say slack I mean that you can turn the the throttle about .1 inch before you feel the cable actually engaging. There are adjustments at the carbs and possibly at the throttle control. Chapter 3 page 16 of the service manual covers it.
  23. Do you have any adjustment left? There needs to be just a little slack when you turn the throttle or it will bind just like you are talking about.
  24. I don't think you would want a bike as big as ours on those twisties. A sport or dual sport would be perfect though.
  25. Thats neat. One thing I regret is not having pictures of most of the first bikes and cars I had.
