Hitting the best sights in Yellowstone is pretty easy. The main paved roads form a figure 8. Do one loop one day and the other loop the next day. All the big attractions are close and have signs. I have spent a lot of time looking for waterfalls around the country. Finally made it to Yellowstone last August. Every waterfall was better than any I had ever seen before. We were driving my wife's Mustang but at the first one I stopped at somebody was riding a RSV. I went over to talk to him and turned out it was somebody that used to frequent this forum (First Tenor) and he just lived 30 miles from me. Drove 1500 miles to run into him.

I showed that to my wife last night. She was sitting with her laptop and two cats on her lap and handed her mine to watch it. When I saw how she was holding my laptop I stood up and got closer. When the snake struck I caught my computer and both cats went flying she jumped show bad. Pretended like she was mad for a while.

I use 3/4 " plywood with 2 2x3s screwed and glued up the center. The ends are beveled to give a smooth entry. Then I have 2 short 2x3s with a 3/4" slot cut at an angle that I slip over the outside edge about half way up to support the outside edge. I also have 2 holes drilled in the lip of the trailer with matching holes in the top of the ramp that I drop 1/4" bolts into. Very secure. My trailer is not near 22" high so keep that in mind. http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/ad166/midnightventure/Doolittle%20Trailer/CIMG1270.jpg http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/ad166/midnightventure/Doolittle%20Trailer/CIMG1269.jpg http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/ad166/midnightventure/Doolittle%20Trailer/CIMG1266.jpg

That"s excellent. Your partner really had an advantage because the Harleys really do handle easier at slow speeds. -
states with the lowest cost of living

I have no use for Connecticut. I had a nephew that played football in Iowa. They moved to Connecticut for a few years and they wouldn't let him play. Said he was to big. He never played again. -
The extra import fees on Japanese bikes went away a several years ago. Remember when they were making 700cc bikes? That was to get around the fees on bikes 750cc and larger. That was back when 750 ccs was considered a large bike.

My son is married to a Chinese girl and lives in southern China. He says the products made in China for Chinese do not have near the quality control that products made for American companies have. They are trying to have a baby and while he was here for Christmas she ordered a lot of baby stuff shipped to our house and made him bring it back with him because she didn't trust the products sold there.

I just tested this and found that if I do hit the back button that then I can hit the forward button and I go back to my reply I was working on with the typing intact. Just hitting the backspace does not send me back although I have a suspicion that if I clicked outside the typing field accidently and then hit the backspace key it would. Ijust tested that theory and it did. When I hit the forward button I came right back to my post with everything still there.

Now that was funny.

Wow, A long trip to Alaska and another long trip to South America and no pictures to show for it. That is some really lousy luck.

Make sure you take a camera and get some pictures.

I won't shop at HF anymore unless there is something I really need and it doesn't have to be very good. I had one of those 20% coupons and went in to buy a plastic welder. Got to the check out and was told it didn't apply to about 6 different things including welders. I had to get a magnifying glass to see that there in the fine print was the disclaimer. That was after driving quite a few miles to get there. Some of their stuff is ok but some of it is junk.

Planning a ride to the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas
midnightventure replied to FuzzyRSTD's topic in Watering Hole
If you make it to Oark try the Buttermilk pie. As somebody already said the Ozark Cafe in Jasper is a good place to stop. The NW Ar guys on Advrider.com are putting together some routes. Here is a link to what they have going. http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=847282 -

Good roads all over NW Ar. Before you go north you might want to check out Petit Jean Mountain. Great Views and a great legend. http://www.petitjeanstatepark.com/history/history_of_petit_jean_mountain.aspx It is just a little south of I40. Also south of I40 is the highest point in AR,Mt Magazine. http://www.mountmagazinestatepark.com/lodge-cabins-restaurant/lodge-at-mount-magazine.aspx Hawksbill Crag is about 6 miles down gravel . https://www.google.com/search?q=hawksbill+crag&hl=en&tbo=u&tbm=isch&source=univ&sa=X&ei=TGveUO3gGIj69gSvvYC4BA&sqi=2&ved=0CDgQsAQ&biw=1024&bih=475 At War Eagle Mill they make cookies from flour they mill themselves. Taste great too. http://www.wareaglemill.com/ All the great roads are even better on something besides a cruiser. Of course when the weathers nice the roads are jammed with cruisers. -
Replacing brake lines per maintance schedule recomendations.
midnightventure replied to dingy's topic in Watering Hole
I probably read the manual at least twice back in 2002 and missed that. I do believe they have their maintenance schedule made up to optimize profits for the dealers. I had a front brake line on my DR that had been replaced by the P.O. with SS break down just south of Eureka Springs,AR. My foot slipped on some gravel and I grabbed a big handful of brake trying to hold it up. Resistance and then nothing. Turned out it had been rubbing on something out of sight and wore almost through. Went back up into Eureka Springs and found a shop that rented DRs. He had one he was planning to put on one of his bikes. Sold it to me, gave me shop space and dug out his tools for me to use before I could get mine dug out. I was back on the rode in an hour. -

I couldn't remember ever seeing that recommendation. I just looked through the RSV manual and couldn't find it. I am wondering were did you see it? -
I just read on the news (which certainly has problems getting the facts straight) that the man that did it had spent 18 years in prison for beating his grandmother to death with a hammer. He never should have gotten out of prison.

Yea ,waterskis. I was size 11 when I graduated from high school. They just kept growing. Since I am 57 now I hope they have quit. After 12 there are no half sizes.

I wear Nikes to play basketball. I have also read a pretty big book on how they got started. That part is pretty neat really but they were one of the first manufacturers to go to Asia for manufacture. The company that they taught how to manufacture their shoes is now one of their biggest competitors. I try to buy my shoes on clearance at one of their outlet stores. With my size 13 4E feet I am usually successful. I bet they don't have 20 dollars in every 140 dollar pair they sell.

I agree. Very funny. If there isn't anything worth while to watch we watch reruns.

Shifting points/ shifting points and "choke" use?
midnightventure replied to Buck_Roy's topic in Watering Hole
Those shifting points sound like they are for optimum gas mileage not fun. -
Noticed the Jake Wilson banner here and checked it out. Ended up buying a Commander from them for 150.99.
-
Will be ordering a new rear tire for my Venture in an hour or two. Kind of shocked how much they have gone up. Going for a Michelin Commander II for 159 dollars. Anybody know somewhere cheaper? I could go for a Dunlop Elite III also. The 159 is free shipping.

Does not want me to wear any other patch while on a chapter ride
midnightventure replied to YamaDuck's topic in Watering Hole
Cruiser riders. Supposedly fiercely independent but so many of them try to dress the same. Show up with an Aerostich and it about as bad as showing up to a Harley event on a Yamaha.
