  1. Here is a picture of my little sister age about 9 on my 1974 RD250. http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/ad166/midnightventure/024_zpsa2f29350.jpg I had learned to ride on a 60cc mini enduro that belonged to a cousin.
  2. I wonder if this process could make models cheaply that could be painted? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3D_printing
  3. One of the guys at work put them on a Roadstar. We all made fun of him and after a while I noticed he had taken them off. I asked if he had gotten tired of being kidded about it. He said he couldn't see with his arms up there and took them off for safety.
  4. Is he writing fiction on the other forum?
  5. I have a 96 Suzuki DR650 which is an oil cooled thumper. Bought it with about 16000 miles on it 5 years ago and now it has 36000 miles. It is starting to look rough but it still runs good and doesn't use any oil. One thing on the KLRs that I have seen discussed on the Thumper forums is the Doohickey. They are always talking about upgrading them. Google Doohickey and I am sure you will run into a discussion. I wouldn't be afraid to ride mine across several states. http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=742912 The DR and KLR are equivalent bikes. I was looking for a KLR when I found my DR.
  6. I don't think I would worry about it unless it got worse than it is.
  7. I have used a Mity-Vac for years to bleed and to change brake fluid. It has always worked for me.
  8. The Battery Tender Jr is a maintainer. If the battery was way down the junior would be pushed to provide the amperage needed to bring it to full charge.
  9. Yes that's him. Because he was in Alaska I hadn't seen him for several years. Been thinking about him a lot this week. We weren't first cousins but were fairly close to the same age in a town of 200. We did a lot together for a couple of years.
  10. When I first read that I thought you said she bought you the plane and you were already doing rolls. Luckily I reread it and got it right. Still a nice present.
  11. I learned on a cousins 60cc mini enduro. Took my test on a 250 39 years ago. Probably cost 5 dollars. My cousin was an officer in Alaska and was murdered 4 days ago at the scene of a domestic disturbance. We only had the 60 cc and a bicycle between us. Since I was the biggest I would ride the mini enduro and he would grab my shoulder and off down the road we would go.
  12. I believe they started installing switches in the unit after I bought mine. I installed mine with a relay so I wouldn't forget because they will run the battery down in a few days. I used the unused connector under the seat to trigger the relay. As somebody else said it does freeze every once in a while. I just hit the back button and it starts back on the same song it was playing pretty close to where it left off.
  13. I have one also. It is totally legitimate. I did wire mine in with a relay because it can run your battery down. Last time I looked at their site they had my install video and one in Russian linked.
  14. It still amazes me that somebody can watch the video several times and see that blinker on and the car going back and forth in it's lane and still say the biker was in the wrong or purposely caused the accident. I am really curious what the LVPD is going to do. I still say that we as bikers have to be extra careful because the police are extra suspicious of us. 15. The biker was definitely trying to give the hesitant car on the left some room. I have been involved in this same discussion on other much bigger motorcycle forums and it is amazing how many cops find excuses for the cops behavior. The last I heard the cop is on paid leave while they investigate. The rider handled it right by not being belligerent or he might have ended up arrested or shot.
  16. I wasn't kidding. There was an older guy when I was a kid that would just say the stupidist things out of the blue. I am 57 now and was talking to his younger cousin the other day and found out that his father was also his grandfather. Explained a lot. You don't know me. If we were acquainted and had kidded around with each other I could understand something like that maybe. As it is your lucky I wasn't standing by you when I read that.
  17. What a jerk. What you just said is why I think about not paying my 12 dollars next time. I knew somebody like you once. His father was also his grandfather.
  18. I am also a Techron believer. I have a 95 Trans Am which sits for weeks at a time in a garage. Occasionally it gets to running rough when I first start it. Run a tank of gas with techron in it through and it clears right up.
  19. I have ordered from boats.net and had good luck. To tell you the truth I think the link I posted is connected with boats.net. They are both part of something called outdoornetwork.com. The funny part is the prices vary between the two sites.
  20. I had bought one of the cassette adapters a few years ago I think from the same outfit. I don't understand how they can ship it from there for that price let alone build it and make a profit.
  21. http://www.partzilla.com/parts/search/Yamaha/Motorcycle/2011/ROYAL+STAR+VENTURE+S+-+XVZ13TFSA/REAR+SUSPENSION/parts.html $457 free shipping on orders over $250
  22. We have a huge car show here every year Called the Magic Dragon. I always like to go and look. It is amazing how many Fords have Chevy 350s.
  23. 30 years ago I spent 3 years working for one of those old time hardware stores. We had a retired plumber that hung out and did small jobs. I learned a lot from him but in 30 years some things have changed. There are a lot more fancy things. I do like Lowes myself though because I kind of like being able to go in and just look with out somebody coming up and wanting to help me.
  24. If you look back at my post above this one you will see that I state that we are in my wife's Mustang on this trip. Just as much fun and a lot more comfortable for my wife.
  25. Here is a picture of my GPS while on Beartooth Hwy. http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/ad166/midnightventure/Yellowstone/SANY0295.jpg
