  1. I used a 5/16 drill & 10MM tap on the base. There was a small whole in the base I used 3/16 then 1/4 then 5/16 and taped. I would check the mirrors you use they do come in different thread sizes.
  2. Yes but not bad, I am thinking about cutting a piece of rubber to put under the mirror mount to see if it helps.
  3. I got the mirrors done, I only had one base with boot so I painted the other black. I used a 10MM tap on the bases, I would like to have used larger mirrors may change them this was a test. Mirrors $17.00 from JC Whitney any suggestions welcome. Dale
  4. I read some where that if you loosen the cap bolt on the rear master and shim the peddle down putting pressure on the system over night this forces the air out. Dale

  6. This happened to me on my 83. Jeff AKA muffin man had me jump the ignition fuse this worked. I got 12V on my Ohem meeter but the connection was not strong enough to run any thing Then I put an in line fuse in place of the original no problems after that, some day replace fuse box. Dale

  8. Dose any one have a mirror base from a broken right hand mirror for a 1Gen 83 or one that would fit. I want to tap it and see if I could put after market mirrors on them the OEM ones are so high. Dale
  9. I had the same thing happen, I had to use a piece of wire from a bread tie to clear the return whole.

  12. I have got a leak on the left side of the tube that you drain the coolant. I think goes in to the thermostatic valve is that an o ring I cane replace or is it more . Dale

  16. Jeff and I found the ignition circuit bad jump it started, Put in line fuse in till can get fuse block. Put every thing back together now it won't start. 11.98V through circuit when push starter button Spark on all Plugs looks good on blue side fuel pump working I think it is flooding smell gas I put new plugs in any ideas, Thanks Dale Oh 1gen 83
  17. Yes they can cut one to fit and replace it, The glue they use is a special glue that wont attack the silver on the back of the mirror. The new one will be the actual distance things will not be further away. Dale

  19. I check the side stand down resistance up no resistance. Kill switch off resistance on no resistance. the full pump is not clicking i crossed the connections to the side stand still no full pump click. that is what I have for now I will continue to check relays. Dale
  20. The bike just died, Jeff is trying to help any buddy else want in. Head light, dash, tail, turn work. Jumped starter relay starter worked. will check kick stand, kill switch and emergency and starter relays. any other ideas. Did 600 M trip to WV ran fine , Thanks Dale
  21. I like to know what was used for the brake and headlite strobe and were you purchised them. I would like to do somthing like this to my 83 1Gen. Dale

  24. Is there a brighter head light you can install in 83 Std. Witch will put out more light. Dale
  25. The wife is now riding with me and complains she has no place to lock her helmet. I could use a helmet lock with out key I have a locksmith that Will re key for $7.50. If you have one you can part with let me know. Allen thank you so very much for the end caps!!! Dale 83V-STd.
