  1. I bought cables from this place when no one was making them type 3 stranding and tinned copper. I think it was about $25.00 for the three, 2 red 1 black. Cable $1.55 ft Labor $1.00 ends $1.66 ea. Heat Shrink 1.66 X2 http://shop.genuinedealz.com/Marine%20Electrical%20Supply/
  2. I did read the thread should have posted on it. I switched the plug wires and the connections to the left side coils no change I guess the coil is good. Looking like the TCI?
  3. My tach is gone crazy runs like it's missing, removed TCI cleaned connections moving to top of air box. If I swap plug wire and connections to the left side coils will this let me know if the #2 coil is bad. Any one coming to Asheville have a good 83 TCI I could use to test. How do you get the cover off the TCI to get to the diodes to look for bad ones.
  4. New symptom the information display showed the kickstand, brake fluid and oil low after I reinstalled the battery after checking for water on TCI, the display was re soldered.
  5. At the Asheville East KOA road today half way back to KOA tach drops to 0. Roll of throttle tach shows RPM's again, roll on throttle about 2000 drops to 0. Coasting down hill shows RPM's 3000 roll on throttle hard RPM's come back. Cleaned the connection on left side any thoughts what could be hope not the TCI, starts fine idles good. Your help as always appreciated.

  9. Yes my brother soldered it for me works great. Thanks for the pic's mine looks a little different but they will help. Put new fork seals in new used brake caliper (striped threads) cleaned and new seals. Getting ready for Asheville hope to see you there.
  10. I still haven't figured out how to mount the backrest on my 83, and if I have all the parts? Would some kind person with a backrest mounted on there 83 send or post a pic of the brackets and the OEM backrest mounted on bike
  11. I had the same warning also low brake fluid level, my brother soldered the spots showed in the tech article. No more warning lights.
  12. When I took the MRC the instructor had a white helmet I had silver, the white was cooler to the touch then the silver. My new HJC is ordered modular and white, cooler is better IMHO.

  14. I saw one that was made out of 2 2x4 strapped at one end and used a rubber mallet. One 2x4 under tire one over top and mallet between 2x4 and tire and push down. Used a saws-all to cut tire off and used 8 12" straps to compress tire to mount the tire. Using the straps to squeeze the beads together making tire in side diameter smaller and would fit over rim with out any tools. Something you can try, the local dealer charge $16.00 to mount tire off bike so I let them do it.
  15. Yes the ignition key should unlock them from the bike if not. You can remove the locks from in the opened bags from the in side of the bags. You can take them to a locksmith and he can key them to your ignition key. Hop this helps

  22. I want to have a Butt Butler Mod, But my seat is ripped at the seam on the front, Rick can't repair it so I need a cover or a seat. I have checked eBay and what I found were in worse or the same shape as mine. I can get a cover for $100.00 + BBM $70.00=$170.00 + shipping, So dose any one have a seat or know where I can get a cover? I would like to get the coast down if I can. Thanks, Dale

  24. Barend, My 83 just started doing all most the same thing, but the low beam is dim and brings on the headlight warning. The high beam works fine and no warning, let me know if you find the cause. Gail got off to go to Tybee Island and then got sick so we didn't go.
  25. Bought my 83 in March 2007 with 45,000 now has 66,000 with help from my VentureRider friends thanks to all.
