Sorry for your loss of a true friend, I wrote the following in memory of my Dad. I offer it to you and your friends family in memery of him. Carpe Diem Seize the day is what he’d say, For tomorrow is never sure. We never know if we‘ll pass this way, Or If I can hold your hand once more. My life has been blessed and was rich indeed, With friends and loves and family. My heart has been full for sure. Life’s sweet music has filled my ears, A song of bliss so pure. When my time has ended, And I go to meet my Lord, No floods of tears should you shed, For my struggles will be no more. Each song I sang along the way Was meant to share my soul. I tried to sing them lovingly, So lovingly to you. Charles R. Graham In memory of my beloved Father and friend

I noticed a new smilie of a pick-up truck towing a Venture on a trailer. I think it would be cool to have a smilie of the blue smilie riding Venture pulling a trailer. That could be the official smilie of the motorcycle trailer pulling campers. Or, How about this .............. The Blue Venture pulling the Trailer with the Venture that is behind the pick-up truck. That could be the official smilie of the very optimistic Venture addict going to an event by themselves.

Bump, Lewis did I make reservations with you for this event? Do I need to? I too have CRS syndrome. What else do I need to do? I plan on being there for the entire event. Where is the registration thread I can't find it?

and a pool in Florida, how close to the beach? When is your next guest opening. Do I need to make a reservation? I can do remodeling projects for free rent and gas money.

today's TCI project
Dragonslayer replied to 6m459's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
About the part numbers of the TCI, if the first series of numbers match don't sweat the following numbers which could be revision or production run codes. TCI relocation as you know is a good idea to correct a bad design issue as it sounds like you already know. The job for me wasn't difficult and the original wiring connects were long enough to reroute to new TCI location on top of the air box without having to make any changes to wiring harness. But, good electrical connection with no resistance across the connection is critical as I found out in Asheville. Prior to Asheville the bike was running OK with an occasional hiccup or two. On the way to Asheville, towing a trailer the bike started dogging out and running like C**p. Gas mileage dropped to 40 miles per full Tank, (NOT GALLON, the worst mileage I had ever seen). On the way we stopped and put new plugs, added Seafoam in it with no appreciable improvement. Finally made it to Asheville and spent Saturday, Tinkering with it, Picking peoples brains, and scratching my head. Mostly scratching my head. I did find and replaced a partially cracked intake port plug, with no noticeable improvement. I also found an exhaust leak at #1 exhaust manifold clamp and tightened that up. The main thing I did was spend some time cleaning the TCI pins and plugs with CRC contact cleaner and a small wire brush I had in the tool bag. Then the Muffinman rode the bike and reported that it wasn't right but he believed at least 80% of the problem was spark plug wires breaking down and suggested copper conductor 7mm wires with resistor spark plug boots. Which I haven't done yet. But, keep in mind Jeff did not ride the bike before the tinkering and only had my description to compare to. I did not ride the bike again until we loaded up on Sunday to head back to Atlanta. On the way back the bike ran much much better, gas mileage improved to around 38 mpg with some minor popping on deceleration and spark plug wire ticking on what sounded like #1 and #3 cylinders. However, I was happily impressed with the increased acceleration, power and Gas mileage performance. When I got back to Atlanta I replaced the air filter, which was overdue. Things got remarkable better. Gas mileage improved to over 40 miles per gallon and the acceleration improved so dramatically that it was like riding a whole new bike. Moral of the story; Pay attention to TCI electrical connection health and Carb air intake. The first gens are very unforgiving if things aren't right in those areas. -
There must be a bunch of us short people riding the 1st Gens. I have to stand on my tippy toes at lights too. Well maybe heals up a little bit. But I find that if I let the air out of the rear shock, Ride my short stumpy roommate around and wear my high healled boots I'm as flat footed as a cop.

Hurry home, I'm sure by the time you get back I'll be needing another carb sync. Be safe and God speed

Freebird, What if the use for this area be expanded not only for Charity related fund raisers such as raffles but, for all types of humanitarian related activities. Such as opportunities for volunteering for good causes and good people. Or organizing motorcycle people to help others in whatever way they can. This site gives each of us so much that I believe there are a lot of people on this site who would appreciate finding ways of paying back or paying forward by finding ways to help others. I know that many get tired of being hit up for contributions for one thing or the other all the time, there are so many causes seeking money. But, maybe alot of those people wouldn't mind giving in other ways. There are and will always be members of the VentureRider. org family going through hard times like you yourself have recently. Why can't this area be a way of coordinating helping each other out who may need a helping hand from time to time. I know that we have an area for prayers but why not this area for more proactive support. Just a thought.

What's a GEMLIN BELL? I hung my Gremlin Bell over the front wheel, under the headlight between the two brake lines.

There like motorcycle batteries only smaller. They are marked 12 V 0.4 Amps. What would you use them for? I have access to about 15 of them. I'm sure they are worth something to somebody, But, who would need them?
-
Thanks Mini, Does that include the resistor caps and coil ends Jeff was talking about. PM your Paypal address and I send you the bucks. Is $15.00 enough does that include postage and your trouble.
-
Hey Jeff, Before you get gone, Where did you get them copper filled plug wires? I can't find them any wheres. Napa had everthing but copper filled ones. Good luck and have a safe trip.

Squid, Sorry to hear about the job. As They say when one door closes another one opens. It would be great to have you down here closer to the great N. Ga. riding roads. Keep us posted on your move and job search.

Jeff & Margaret, First, let me say how wonderful it was spending time with the two of you last weekend in Asheville. I had a great time at the event and really enjoyed the weekend, the time spent with old friends and making new and the riding time in spite of the tech problems. Jeff, I know that it must be tiresome to be so much in demand for your assistance for 1st gen problems. I admit that I have been one of the needest seeking your attention, especially at this last event. But I admire and respect you with deep esteem at your technical knowledge and your cheerful willingness to help as you have for so many members of this forum, including myself time and time again. I wish that I could adequately express how much your help and friendship means to me. I will miss you while your gone and will pray for your Safe and rapid return back to the warm embrace of your family and friends. God Bless you and God speed. Margaret, I too want you to know that in Jeff's absence your Venture family is here for you in all ways of support that you may need or want. Please do not hesitate to call on me at anytime or for whatever reason if I can help you and your family in anyway. I do expect to stay in touch during Jeff's tour of duty through regular post on the forum.

I finally made it home just now, it's 2:00 am Monday Morning what an adventure. For those of you wondering the bike ran great all the way home, go figure and i probably got the best gas mileage I have ever gotten. Maybe some thing I did when I was fiddling with it yesterday corrected the problem I had with it on the way up. But, that is not what made the ride home interesting. I'm to tired to tell ya'll about it now. the last 6 hours was in the rain. I'm soaking wet and need to shed this gear. I'll tell you about it tomorrow. But home safe and sound.

We weren't able to get as early a start as we would have liked, but, BlackJack and I will be heading out this morning So you should see us sometime around mid afternoon. Save us some tent space in the shade. Oh yea save us a couple of seats for dinner.

Dragonslayer replied to Dragonslayer's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Good Guess because apparently you were right. I checked the connections and they appeared to be tight and fully seated. But, I pulled them loose anyway and sprayed them with CRC contact cleaner and plugged them back in and the problem totally went away. WOW Thanks for the advice -
I can weld what do you need to do?

I sent a check with all of the contact information in the envelope I never received a raffle ticket or any confirmation my ticket was in the hat. Just curious if I didn't win who did. I hope you met your goal for fund raising for a good cause.

A bunch of my local riding buddies and myself turned out for One of our watering hole's Bev's Place (Bev is in the the patriotic mini skirt) to ride in the Stone Mountain 4th of July Parade. It was fun, never rode in a parade before.

Saturday I rode up to T.W.O. in Suches, Ga. When I pulled in I pulled up next to, on first glance, looked like a very clean and pretty Blue on Blue 1st Gen MK2 Venture Royale. Naturelly I immediatly introduced myself and asked the rider his name and if he was a Venturerider member. He gave his name and said he had never heard of the venturerider group. As we were talking I was admiring his bike which for some reason I couldn't immediatly place didn't look right. The front end was a typical 87VR but the tail end trunk, saddlebags and crash bars was Goldwing rear end painted perfectly to match the color scheme of the factory blue on blue ventures. The reflector on the trunk said , YamaHonda Before he left I gave him a card and the web site address, I also invited him to Vogel since he didn't live that far a way. So maybe we'll get a chance to check this bike out later in more detail.

The scoot picked up some bad habits over the weekend and I don't know why. All of a sudden, the idle is real low, on acceration, in all gears, it started sputterring then eventually smooths out. On deacceration it backfires, if suddenly it sounds like a M-80, if not so suddenly not quite as loud. I pulled the plugs which are all realitively new, like a month old. They all have about the same light covering of black dry soot. Over the weekend I was riding two up pulling a trailor. Got any hints?

Canuck, Aren't you glad you followed my advice when I met you at the truck stop in Wyoming last Summer when I was on the way back from Sturgis. Didn't I tell you it was a great site full of great people always willing to help. I believe I also told you that there was a wealth of technical information and knowledgeable mechanical talent who could help with any problem you might have. When I say I told you so, it's not that I'm trying to boost my self importance. For I am but a lowly messenger and you are the wiser one for seeking out the wisdom of the enlightened teachers of the truth. But, not only that, by being willing and able to help others you have truely displayed and exemplified the selfless gift of heartfelt compassion and service to a brother rider in need. You truely have acted in accordance with the underlying atmosphere of the good hearted that make this site great and therefore have made the world a better place because of your service. You have verified and proven without doubt, as I have always known. The world would be a much better place if more people followed my advice.
