  1. VTirelli

    HI Gang

Haven't been on here in a while, been busy with life things this winter. Had a few health issues (minor), and a big cancer scare with my mother in law (Sam's mom). Thank God it seems to be negative so far, but we've been on pins and needles for a month or so. She will be seeing another specialist this week for a final diagnosis. Sam goes in this week for her final follow up on her little heart scare this summer, and I'm having a bunch of wisdom teeth pulled on Wed. I still think of you guys often and hope you're all doing OK with this crappy economy. We WILL be at MD so we'll see you all there. I'll be back posting a little at a time here. Vin
  2. Great weather this weekend. Did anybody get a ride? MamaMo has had to work 7 days a week now since some employee turnovers recently. We went to the grocery store after work and got back to the camp at 5:00 am Sunday morning.Kind of weird eating supper at 1:00 am but hey she was buying so what the heck country fried steak is not bad at any hour. The front yard was full of spring red breasted robins today. That is a good sign that spring is here. I'm still nursing a strained muscle in my neck right shoulder after unloading some heavy firewood a few weeks ago.I keep irritating the thing rolling over in my sleep. The march wind has dried up the front yard so It's time to brave that crossing soon.I'll probably buy a new battery for the 89 this week.
  3. Just stopped at the smoke shop, was told that next week our new fearless leader has slapped a $5.00 a carton new Federal Tax on, per carton. Goes in effect next week. I'm wondering if motorcycles will be on the hit list !! ( an obvioius evil ) must be taxed !! :stirthepot: And!! Its NOT Raining in Seattle Today !!!!! :snow2: Its Snowing:mad:
  4. First of all let me introduce myself. I own a 2007 Venture and live in FL near Cocoa Beach and I am currently active duty NAVY in the submarine force. My questions are: Have any other's had a rust problem on their bikes? Does the warranty cover this issue? On my antennas at the joint where they fold is just covered in rust. After taking the saddle bags and trunks off last week to do a thorough cleaning (field day for you navy folk) on the bike i discovered more rust on the chrome under the trunk and a few spots on the forks. I couldn't find anything on this issue in the warranty info that I have. Thanks for your help Bill
  5. the first week I lost 44 pounds , after my stomach surgery..(mostly water, but it works for me). down to 355 pounds now.. how far can i go? but it will slow down from here out.. still cant tell it tho.
  6. I will be camping at the Cabbage Patch on Feb 27th to March 3rd for the beginning of bike week if anyone would like to meet up or have a brewski let me know I will give my cell #. Camping out there is fun, at night I like to get a nice fire going and most of the other bikers are very friendly.
  7. Fellow RSTD'ers. As some of you know I laid my 07 RSTD (only 3 months old) - down a while back It was a sad day indeed. Wife just had surgery last week to mend her broken finger and repair a nerve. Other than that only cuts and bruises. I traded my skinned-up RSTD on a Stratoline "S" model and have some parts that I no longer need and would like to sell. Need some "goodies" for the liner. I have a couple of these in the classifieds, but a lot of folks just don't look in there. Here is a brief list and prices OBO: Baron's 4-2-4's - perfect condition - $300.00 SOLD HD Fairing - SOLD to Mountianhorsega Pair of chrime wide muffler clamps - Will throw them in if you buy the mufflers. SOLD Full set of Mustang seats - wide touring and studded - about 3 weeks old - $500.00 Utopia backrest used about a week before going to the Mustangs - Will have to check my invoice for price... SOLD I am sure I have other stuff - but that is a start.... Thanks, Shep
  8. OK folks...a while back...I ran across this hat/lapel pin on Ebay. I thought that it might make a nice prize for a little contest here so I started bidding and ended up with it. Now I assume that this is pretty rare because I've seen a few first gen pins but never one like this. It says "South Daytona" "Lions" on it and then "Bike Week 1992" at the bottom. Now the cool thing is that I bought it from a seller in Germany so this pin has seen more traveling that a lot of actual riders. Anyway, it's in great shape. I didn't put a ruler next to it but it's a pretty good sized pin...probably 2 1/2" across. I'm going to make this contest very easy to enter. All you have to do is post to this thread about your first introduction to the Yamaha Venture motorcycle. Whether it was a first gen, second gen...heck even a Royal Star...tell us about it. Was in an '83 that you never owned but always wanted or a new '99 RSV? Now if you don't WANT the pin....enter anyway. I'm sure you can find somebody that would love to have it. The winner will be chosen by random selection from all entries one week from today.
  9. Hi folks, So here's what happened, I never winterized my Gen 2 because I had plans to haul down south sometime this winter. Plus I got lazy and hunting and football and blah blah blah. So we finally got a little warmer weather last week and I started it up last week anyway bad gas plus I think I flooded it. So it wouldn't run very well and had smoke pouring out the pipes more on the left side than right. Yesterday I drained the tank and then added sea foam but it still ran poorly. Today I pulled the tank (huge accomplishment for me) and managed to pull the two rear plugs. They were both wet and pretty black, now how the heck do I get to the front ones? There is just a ton of stuff in on top of them. I can't figure it out. I did a search but just didn't happen find what I was looking for. Help me please!!!!!!!!!!!! Danimal

  11. For those who might be needing a book at the Hub I have called and emailed the hub to cancell my reservation for the 09 rally have not heard back from them yet but that is probably due to time of year not one but both daughter's have come up pregnant and ones due date is the first week of Auguest the other is real close to that. So if any one is needing a Double room that was what I had booked.
  12. Well...I am officially excited now. Tomorrow we head out to Bismark ND. Then at 630 am Sunday we board our plane to California and head out on a leaky boat for a week long cruise. The ship is the Carnival Pride and we touch Cabo san something, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta (sp)? I write this to make all you stuck in this frozen waste land envious of course! We are going with another couple..some may have heard me talk of them...they ride Indians- Chief and a Scout. (when they can get them working right!) She is turning 40 while we are in the ocean and its also their 20th anniversary. He thought to surprise her with this little jaunt. She does not know yet but will find out tonight as we are going there for supper and last minute planning. This surprise has been in the works for a year now! And she suspects nothing! Even her work knows and have played along....kept her name on the schedule and everything. Gonna tip back some of those fruity drinks and try not to fall off the ship! Take care you parka clad people! At least for one week I can gloat!

  15. That white stuff you guys all talk about..... SNOW ..... Last night ( Saturday ) it snowed in beautiful Victoria. It would seem that IT is going to stick around for a week or so. THAT is a long time to go without being able to take the bikes out of the garage. I kinda know now how you guys in the east and south east must feel. I never missed a whole week of riding for a long time....... I may not be able to go for a christmas ride....oh what to do now?
  16. Tonight I'm off to camp for a week of deer season and vacation. I got my Guns,Ammo, Atv's, and the Dog. Oh yea Mamamo is coming to I hope she brings some grub. I got satellite tv, cell phones service, plenty of wood cut for the new stove. 5 to 10 head of deer feeding on the place. Wvu football playing on the tube Saturday but wife says I need to attend my daughters wedding. Oh well still a good week coming.:dancefool:
  17. OK folks...it's time for my semi-annual sales meeting. I will be flying to Minneapolis tomorrow morning and will be spending the next week in Cannon Falls, MN, Decorah, IA and at our company resort near Hayward, WI. They are stretching this one out so I won't be back home until next Sunday evening. I'll check in when I can but this is always a busy week. To our members in that area, sorry, no time for visiting on this trip. Wish I could. Don
  18. Hey guys, hope you all had a great week! Did all the testing of components, cleaning cable ends, ETC, we discussed earlier last week. Everything checked out! I tested the battery with a standard auto battery load tester, it tested good. SO, after everything else checked out, I took the battery to a friend that has a truck shop and put a 24 volt load test on it, the meter dropped to BAD in 2 seconds. He thought it was a intermittent short in the battery and it took the extra heat to finally burn it into?.?.?... What ever, I put in a Odessey PC 680 and it fired off like new again! Drove all over town and made several stops, NO problems!! Battery Outfitters in Rogers, Arkansas is a dealer if anyone close to them ($95 out the door). Most dealers charge about $121 delivered to your door. Thanks again for all the help on my problem!!! Gary C Ft Smith, Ark area
  19. I gave my '78 wing to my son. He is going to come pick it up in Oliver Springs just before christmas. He's looking for a trailer to put it on, as the tag and insurance expire a week before he'll get here. Also doesn't know what weather will be like. He's willing to rent so long as its reasonable. He's located in Hinesville Ga.
  20. Just a quick note and it's off to bed for me. Walked in the door at 1110 pm 17 hours after we left Gene and Becky's. Todays jaunt was about 940 miles we must be stupid or Masochists....maybe both Again thank you all for showing up, what a great weekend! We really didn't want to come back north, we have good friends here, but it's 31 degrees right now I'll come on during the week and get my babbling back up to speed. Thanks again for all the hospitality and it was great to see everyone and make some new friends...Y'all be safe
  21. About two days a week I work in the office (engineering) so that makes me a white collar worker. Two days a week in the field service makes me a blue collar worker. Tomorrow I got a meeting about a wind generator project so I should wear green. A few of my clients are all women but I'm not wearing pink. Ramona just brought home some homeade blackberry wine and now I don't have a shirt on at all.:rotfl:
  22. Its been awhile healing from the hip and knee surgery but all is well and I will be starting back on making Grills this week. To all of those that have ordered over the past month I'll have yours ready sometime the end of next week. Anyone waiting to place an order please email me or give me a call so I can get you on the list. It was a great weekend I got to ride again without any pain.:dancefool: Everyone ride safe and keep it between the ditches. Steve
  23. These are pics from my trip through Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parway Labor day week I drove from Mass to Ft Pierce Fla that week and the weather was awsome. I camped out every day.
  24. Almost time to schedule vacation for 2009. I think I can make the Skid Inn in June no problem.Maybe another full week during the summer for a rally somewhere.I told the boss an extra week of vacation time would be nice? He was not excited.
