  1. I need a car tire for my 2007 (rear) Venture. I put a side car on and now need a car tire . Were can I get one.
  2. i ripped these from another forum, couple years old. but in case you havnt seen them...not sure what to say about the wing...bet that venture hauls!
  3. Perhaps some of you know my friend Lumpy (Bill Kahley) suffered a bizarre motorcycle accident last September. He was riding his 1984 Venture, returning from a Ride-In in Indiana to his home in the Quad Cities, Illinois when it happened just a couple miles from his home. A lightning bolt struck the Interstate roadway directly in front of him, sending basketball sized chunks of pavement into Lumpy's face...at seventy miles per hour. He was severely injured and has spent the last 7 months in intensive care and rehabilitation. He is still in a skilled nursing/rehabilitation facility and in a wheelchair, although unable to maneuver himself. Some of his friends have started an online fundraising event to help defray the costs. Please consider contributing toward this worthy endeavor to help a fellow Venture rider (though not a VentureRider). Thank You. http://lumpy.bbnow.org/index.php Fundraiser for Lumpy lumpy.bbnow.org
  4. 05 venture with 56k has backfire when letting off the gas, any help?
  5. HI, I'm looking to get back to riding after a several year hiatus. I'm looking at a 99 Venture, and wanted to ask if I could impose on the great members here to tell me if it sounds like a reasonable deal? It's a 99, wine red over silver, from the original owner. It's got 31K miles. It's got passing lamps, saddle bag rails, luggage rack, turn down pipes, the Harley lights added to the back brake lights, the original seats but an added riders backrest. All the electronics work, including the intercom system. The only two things I know about being wrong are the left wind deflector has a crack, and there is a small leak from the clutch cylinder that appears to be from around the O-ring. The tires and brakes were apparently put on new about 4K miles ago. I'm going to try to attach a couple of pics, I hope I do this right. Can anyone suggest anything I should check on or make sure of with a 99 RSV? Would this bike for $6000 be a reasonable deal?
  6. I put a set of bars that came off my 2007 Tour Deluxe in the classifieds. Thought I would mention it here so if anyone is looking for an excellent set used for their Venture. Fuzzy
  7. Went to dealer in New Castle Pa. today met a fellow going in for parts to fix his new to him 99 venture gave him web site address he sounded interested in looking here
  8. I am getting closer to getting the Venture back on the road and I am thinking if I do, I dont need two touring bikes, so might get rid of the V Star and buy a Sport touring bike. I am thinking a used Concours or ST1100 or ST1300. There are a few others I am looking at, but those two are at the top of my list. I have a co-worker I ride with and he is a trial member here that rides a Concours, and I will be trying it out soon, funny thing is, he wants to buy a 1st Gen for a second bike. He has been helping me with my Venture project. The V Star is a great bike, but Charlene doesnt ride it with me, she is not as comfortable on it as she is the Venture. So some time in the near future you might see me ride up on something other than the Venture or the V Star.
  9. One of my high school friends is selling his goldwing and harley softail to get a venture. We ride together but he has never ridden my venture. I told him he was welcome to ride my venture anytime. He came by yesterday with his wife and wanted to drive my venture. He had the harley softail on his trailer and asked if I would like to ride it along with them. I thought sure, so we rode for about 20 or 25 miles and came home. He was pleased with my venture and is definately going to by one. The harley softail is one of the worst bikes I have ever ridden in my life. It vibrated so bad at 60mph that all you can see in the rear view mirror is a streak. When I got off my back was hurting, I felt like I had been punched in my side and the skin was off my right big toe from shifting gears. This morning my lower right back is so sore I can't bend over. I'm sure the road king and ultra are better riders but I don't see how anyone can ride a softail. By the way, how did they come up with a name like softail. It should be called hardtail.
  10. The time is getting closer where our block of booked rooms at the New Grand hotel will be gone, so if youre thinking of attending please call the New Grand and book your room making sure that you tell them that your with the Venture group. Also got to the website at www.kruisnthekootenays.ca and register so that we know youre coming so we can plan things like meals. Thanks, Brian, Rick and Nina
  11. I recently sold my '89 Radian as I was looking to get into something a little more suited for longer hauls and the Venture caught my eye. I found a '86 Venture Royale with 74K miles that I plan to check out tomorrow. I called the owner and he had this info to pass: Runs great although lately haven't ridden much and therefore at low engine speeds need to apply a little choke. Has the air shocks, cruise, clock, factory am/fm/cb, intercom, headphone for both riders, driver back rest, wind wings, highway floorboards, aux driving lights, extended chrome fender w/ fender trim, trunk rack, chrome light bar on trunk, waterproof cover and dust cover, taller windshield, venture bags, excellent condition paint, tires are good, garage kept. Currently owned by an elderly gentleman that has owned it since '92. He has done the service himself or with a mechanic friend. He seems mechanically inclined as also restores old cars. He said he had the clutch plates replaced not too long ago. It was laid down once by the owner before him but only the slightest little scrape on the mirror was the only damage and he said he has had no issues with it since. I am planning on riding out tomorrow to go check it out and was wondering if you guys had any advice. He's asking $3500. Does this seem like a fair price? I have spent the past few days scouring this site learning as much as possible. I plan on asking if he has had any issues with 2nd gear and if the starter has had any high heat issues. Beyond that any other advice would be appreciated. I am familiar with Yamaha carbs as I was constantly cleaning and syncing the carbs on my Radians. If I do end up tearing into these ones I know to check the diaphrams and hope there are no issues there. If I were to negotiate what would be the areas of concern? Thanks in advance and I look forward to hearing what y'all have to say. Matt
  12. Looking for a trunk light wing for a 2004 midnite venture. Thanks Kelly
  13. Hi all! Just bought myself an 85 Venture xvz12! I'm now in the process of fixing some of the issues it has. The biggest one is the CMS doesn't seem to work! The rest of the gauges seem to be ok except the RPM gauge is intermittent. Nothing at all shows on the lcd. I've tried replacing the 15A fuse but same issue. I have read about the CMS needing to be resoldered but all the posts I've read have some function! Mine has none!! Suggestions?
  14. I'm new to the Venture world and will be installing a 1300 transmission in my 83 to fix and upgrade the 2nd gear issue. I figure since I'll be there anyway, this may be the perfect time to upgrade the starter as well, along with starter cables. I'd like to go to the newer 4 brush starter if I can get one cheap enough. Been looking at them on ebay it seems very doable. From what I've read, it sounds like any 2nd generation or newer will work, so this means anything Yamaha Venture from 93-2012 will fit. Am I right?
  15. I'm new here so please bare with me... I'm looking at a 1984 venture 1200 .He is wanting 1100.00 for it.. Here is what he has told me : It has 33,000 miles on it , the air suspension is fully functional , has all body pieces except for passenger foot rests .. tires have less than 100 miles on them ... It needs a new front caliper and pads , clutch slave cylinder , carbs need to be cleaned/tuned to run properly... He said it hasn't ran since last November. I have never worked on a motorcycle except for routine maintenance (2007 v-max).. I have work on my own cars since I was 16 I'm 43 now. So I do have some mechanical ability.. So are these parts very expensive? Would they be hard to replace ? Is it something that can be done without specialty tools? All opinion and responses welcome . Thanks chuck
  16. From my Nortons, to BMWer to HD I am hooked on the Royal Star engines. Thanks to all who helped me navigate the transition from my Road King to a roaring 4 cyl Yamaha. Three weeks ago I passed on the 03 Venture after trying a RSTD at the last minute mainly because of a heavy feeling on the Venture's steering. I was ready to lay the cash down on the Venture until the RSTD ride. Guess I wasn't used to the baggers and I ride mainly solo. Last week I located a 05 RSTD in CA that was a screamer with Krome Werks pipes, Kurykyn highway pegs, studde tank bra with pouch Mustang seats with driver back rest and OH YEA for the solo ride a studded single Ultimate seat with a carriage rack. I bought a Kuryakn Grantailgater I adore the many configuration the RSDT affords and above all love the high rpm this machine screams at. I don't have to wait till the cow come home like my V-Twins to get warmed and ready. Fourth gear really is an over drive and 5th a luxury. As for the chrips easily handled with rpm and never an issue other than it reminds you that you are lugging your machine. It's how you drive it. I did a 150 mile in the snow capped Sierras and this RSTD handle, shifted and responded like a German designed machine without the ugliness and it turned some serious uphill in ant hills. Hope there is room here for the RSTD machine Normax:cool10:
  17. I pulled up beside a guy riding a custom Harley yesterday, he looks over at the Venture and says "Good looking bike" , I replied thanks and before I could repay the compliment he says "Is that one of those Kawasaki-Yamahas?" Dumb founded I had to compose my self before I answered, figuring there would be this big fight right in the intersection if I said what I was thinking. I nicely said "No this is a Yamaha Royal Star Venture". The light tuned green and I got a very nice hole shot jump on him and left him in my dust wondering what just happend.
  18. Just rolled 100,000 on the Hondapotamus today. Starting to match the mileage on my R60 (132K) and R100RT (123K). Great bike, GF's favorite. The guy I sold my 87 Venture to has rolled it to 90K. Getting our money's worth for sure.
  19. I have been riding a Suzuki Intruder vs1400 for years but thinking about the Venture because it has 4 cylinders and 1300cc in a cruiser format (seems about ideal to me) Can anybody compare the two bikes please ?? I have read the tech specs of Venture about weight, seat height, etc But advertisements don't mention other things like long distance comfort acceleration and top end handling in twisties gas mileage in various conditions etc I have found my vs1400 to be pretty much bullet proof so parts failure and maintenance are important to me thanks, Bob
  20. I have a new to me 1983 venture that i just got running after a complete carborator cleaning. Now the starter seams like there is not enough power in the battery to turn it over, but this is the same battery that i use on my other 1983 venture and it starts it fine. It almost seams as if it might be something in the starter, not sure if brushes would cause this kind of problem. I also have a high amp batter charger with a start option, that i tried, but it still cranked very slow then it will start. Does anyone have any ideas where i should start. Thanks Dave

  22. Submit a picture of a Venture Royale "Official" Accessory you own that you think no other member owns.
  23. New member as of today. been trying to find all info i can on 09 venture. Currently ride a 1300 vtx that i really like. Lookin for a second bike for boss lady and me to take longer trips on. VTX is fine for me but she needs more comfort. Found a red/black 09 venture with less than 25k miles for around $9000, maybe $8500. Lookin for any advice as far as price, quality, weight, easy manuverability, and the whine that I keep reading about, and anything else I need to know. Thks.
  24. Hello everyone. This is my first post on your forum and I am happy I found it. 3 weeks ago Friday I bought an 08 Boulevard C50T, now I am looking at getting an 08 Venture. (Didn't take us long to realize we bought the wrong bike). My wife loves to ride, and the Venture is hands down the most comfortable bike we have sat on. I had my mind set on a GoldWing until we went to a Honda / Yamaha dealer and had a chance to sit on both. I was surprised at the Venture...so now I am shopping for one. I could use your help in my search though. How much do Yamaha dealers usually come off of MSRP and what is a fair price? I know they list at around 17.5 range. Thanks for your help.
  25. Venture Mammoth. Just arrived. Straight from http://www.sickafus.com 50 miles with fuzzy butt, love it. More miles today, Anyone else have these? I believe it is the longest hair they offer. Now the new name for the bike seems to be "Tina Turner"
