  1. From my Nortons, to BMWer to HD I am hooked on the Royal Star engines. Thanks to all who helped me navigate the transition from my Road King to a roaring 4 cyl Yamaha. Three weeks ago I passed on the 03 Venture after trying a RSTD at the last minute mainly because of a heavy feeling on the Venture's steering. I was ready to lay the cash down on the Venture until the RSTD ride. Guess I wasn't used to the baggers and I ride mainly solo. Last week I located a 05 RSTD in CA that was a screamer with Krome Werks pipes, Kurykyn highway pegs, studde tank bra with pouch Mustang seats with driver back rest and OH YEA for the solo ride a studded single Ultimate seat with a carriage rack. I bought a Kuryakn Grantailgater I adore the many configuration the RSDT affords and above all love the high rpm this machine screams at. I don't have to wait till the cow come home like my V-Twins to get warmed and ready. Fourth gear really is an over drive and 5th a luxury. As for the chrips easily handled with rpm and never an issue other than it reminds you that you are lugging your machine. It's how you drive it. I did a 150 mile in the snow capped Sierras and this RSTD handle, shifted and responded like a German designed machine without the ugliness and it turned some serious uphill in ant hills. Hope there is room here for the RSTD machine Normax:cool10:
  2. Thanks for the support. I am still here in PHX Arizona enjoying Spring training. I am going to trade my bike for the week and drive down my brother s friend RSTD and he take my RK. We'll do Rocky Point for a Shrimp run and lay on the beach. Its about a 3.5 hour drive down to the Mexican beach so 'll get a good feel for the 4 cyclinders. He has an Ultimate seat back rest. If it works out I will actively seek an RSTD and have but just found out they discontinued them. For what reason?? Squidlily This 02 RSV is a midnight color and is in Mesa Arizona owned by my Cousin Greg. Normax
  3. I rode this wonderful RSV and was about to put down the $4,500 for this *****in bagger. My brothers friend wanted me to try his 05 Royal Star Tour Deluxe. What a difference. The front end on the Tour was so responsive and the bike seemed so powerful. He does solo long hauls and uses a kuryaykn gran tailgater. Then he stripped down the Tour without the windows and back seat and it was a very neat looking bike. So I went back and tried the RSV and it was a heavy feel but and decided the Tour was more my style and versatile for our next Mexico Yellowstone adventure. Thanks to all. Do they let Tour owner on this site? Normax
  4. There is no place like the Baja from November to April. The Highways are wonderful it just that the eye candy where the desert meets the oceans that you have to be aware of. The beaches are supreb the lobster cheap and the seafood so fresh it swims. I've done the Baja and mainland on a motorcycle over thirty times for the past 40 years. I am planning another next year doing the mainland and taking the Ferry across to the Baja and up to the USA. If I wasn't buying a bike I'd be there right now. Lift a cold one for me and take a shot of anejo with sierra ceviche and savor the best that life offers. Normax
  5. My cousin in Arizona wants to sell me his 02 RSV for $4,500. He rode it on long hauls, garaged and maintained it well and it has 68,000 miles. It looks crisp with no rips, cracks and the clutch whine is overcome by higher rpm. It has no issues I can see but at that mileage I know the saleability is zero after me. It is a beautiful bike feels very comfortable and study. I am very tempted as this beautiful bagger could haul me frame (6'2" 250) through Arizona, Mexico and the mountains. Are these RSV as bullet proof as he claims and the value seems well worth it. My present bike is a Road King which I will no longer take on long hauls and will sell if I move over to metrics. BTW it has been awhile since I saw who'is behind me in the mirrors with the Royal Star drive Any input would be greatly appreciated. Your input will probably make me decide one way or the other Thanks Normax
