  2. I have to agree with Tom , we have our first snow here in n.eastern ky and i hate snow its time for spring, bring on MD steve
  3. There is nothing up around Tahoe so far this winter, and if Mother Nature doesn't get with the picture we're going to have a long dry summer. The snow pack in the Sierras is our summer water supply. We did get a series of storms roll thru the area a couple of months ago, but any snow produced has melted off. Haven't seen anything like this since '73 and the draugt of '74-'75. Hope we have another March Miracle... http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i16/Cirquerider/2011/2011-12-18%20no%20snow/nosnow096.jpg
  4. Rainy warm (64 degree day) and the power went out. Now that is not a good thing normally, bbbuuuttt it was good to get the generator out and use it for a few hours to make sure all is good before real winter comes. It started right up thanks to the Seafoam I keep in the system and I am confident that it will work fine for any future emergencies. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. :snow2: Like we get snow in souther NC.
  5. Did I happen to mention I HATE SNOW?
  6. AHHHHH the benefits of snow,,,,, it's pure white, it quiets the neighborhood, it keeps people indoors,,, it kills the gnats and mosquitoes, it does a number on flies. It comes and goes and makes Christmas pretty. It's fun to slide on and sled on, because of snow we have Hockey and skiing, and snow-boarding, and horse drawn sleighs. It keeps some people south and makes others head south, and so leaves more room for the rest of us. The cold gets rid of the heat, and makes one look forward to the heat once more. It gives a guy time to do work on his scoot,,, and that is most important!!!
  7. Well my hand not the only thing keeping me from riding, we going to get some snow here in Ga. tomorrow,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,oops, I said the S... word.................
  8. I have ridden both my 1975 CanAm 250 tnt and my cow-a-socki 400 in the winter time on snow covered roads, years ago. The TNT was ok the 400 not quite as good. The key difference, I believe was that the TNT had mild knobby's (enduro tires). Also both bikes are pretty light. So now I am curious to know about riding a 1st gen through the snow and what it was like in the way of handling etc. Yeh I know Tom ....You ..HATE SNOW!
  9. Designed with a brain, paper and pencil...not a computer. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBjlSJf4274&feature=fvsr]Fordson Snow Machine - 1929 Concept - YouTube[/ame]
  10. First off I live in Iowa, we have "winters" here. The city of Oskaloosa (where we live) lets us drive on rotten streets all spring & summer long. (Pot hole central I'm talking about). Our great city (cough, cough) runs all over the city filling pot holes, but only in the VERY, VERY late fall. Now with "winter" comes snow and ice, the snow and ice fill any pot holes that the city missed so we get smooth roads for 2 to 3 months. The snow plows drag out all the nice "shovel tapped in" blacktop patches, so when the snow and ice melts in early spring, we have ALL our holes back plus a few more till the next FALL! Questions > > WHY can't they fill the holes in the "spring" time and we have smooth roads all summer and fall and ice filled smooth roads in winter? > What is the point of filling them in, to be drug out by the snow plows and busting your snow blower when you hit a nice sized chunk? > Is this some unwriten law by this city that states (Tho shall not have good roads but pay MAJOR road use taxes)? This has bugged me for the last 20 years of living here. Should I run for city engineer? Bet I could win,,, just promise smooth streets! Thank you, Bryan
  11. 1) its cold 2) its wet 3) its heavy 4) you have to drive in it 5) you have to shovel it 6) you have to shovel it again 7) you have to pick up frozen dog poopsicles in it 8) you can't use yellow snow for snow cones.......its not the same.... trust me 9) you can't ride your scoot in it 10) you have 5 months of it.....it never ends now you know why "I HATE SNOW" :bang head:
  12. I just saw this about clearing the snow from the Going to the Sun Highway in Glacier Natl Park. The pic was taken 2 days ago, it looks like they have a long way to go to get the road passable, my ride through there less than a month might not happen..... Flikr seems to be having some issues allowing the preview pic to load, but just click the heading in the blue above the black video frame to have a look. There are several pics in there that make you realize just how much snow falls thathigh in the mountain passes, wow! 13. Elyria, Oh.. Storm hit 3 miles or so from home, wrecked things pretty good. I maybe grounded when I get home, went to FL. in jan. for 14 days, she got 8 days of snow while I was gone, now a tornado I'm under house arrest for sure when I get home. Rain and wind at my house, more to come.
  14. Visiting our Son and family in Calgary. Kinley was 2 months old on the 24th. We brought along our riding gear, thinking of renting a couple of bikes for a day or two while here. Nothing but rain. We all went to Banff for the weekend and woke up to 2 inches of snow yesterday more this morning. Boy am I glad we didn't trailer the bikes. On the bright side, we've been spending a lot of time together. But, what's with the weather?
  15. Just when we thought winter was done for the year we are now getting/going to get 2-4" of that crap once again before noon tomorrow. I know some folks have had way more snow then us here in southern Michigan but really enough is enough I say. Larry
  16. I know our friends are having some server weather down south but I have had enough of winter already and now they say we are going to get 1-2 inches of snow tonight. Can some one wake me when this is over? Now I know why bears hibernate. :sign yeah that:
  17. Here in Wisconsin all the snow was almost gone and then this happened starting last night thru today 14.6" of Snow. I hate it , I hate it. Was thinking of getting the bike out being all the snow was gone and it did rain one day to get the salt off the roads but not anymore. Sad to say but just wondering were Spring is and if anyone can find it Please send it our way. Thanks have a great day Need PLEASE ASAP
  18. Was wondering if any of you have removed the covers from the side bags on your RSV? I need to remove mine to have them painted. I think I vaguely remember having to unscrew a piece of material that keeps them from swinging too far open, however also remember there being a hinge with a pin in it that I couldn't figure out how to remove. I'd can't check it quite yet, as its still buried behind 1.5' of snow in our shed, being stored for the winter. Was hoping one of you may have some advice, so I could be ready to go once the snow melts... Thanks in advance. Bob
  19. hello all for all of you up north. If you are tired of shovelling all that snow and ice. I can help. Just come on down and cut my yard.. I have a BRAND NEW push mower . I will pay you with ICE TEA and BBQ. http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/188662_199146386771003_100000269280526_683497_522417_s.jpg Thanks George C.
  20. to go !......well, i had bike all packed last night, cloths laid out for the morning, all i had to do was get dressed, plug in my heated gear and hit the road for daytona, wanted to be moving by 6..................get up, look out window.....SNOW....and frozen streets......which means slush and salt later.......i hate winter....
  21. Will someone please quit putting in the order for this white stuff. It is flat out dumping again on us. Heavy wet snow. Noones satelite is working they are all snow packed (i have netflix and laptop so dont care), power lines are drooping quite nicely. Just sitting and waiting for the next tone out. We have had one call after another. I finished up with a semi loaded with cookies that rolled a little bit ago. As soon as this snow settles Ill have lots of cookies for sale.... aaah just kidding. Towing company gets to offload the cookies Then the School bus with 27 students rear ended. No major injuries YET thank God. that it stays calm the rest of the night.
  22. I had an ice dam form and start leaking into my livingroom overnight, we awoke to find our couch and carpet soaked, and a hole in the drywall ceiling We may get a small ice dam every now and then, but , with all the snow we have had and a little freezing rain, it had blocked the ridge venting on the roof allowing it to create the ice. Just a little reminder to those that have the ridge venting, look at your roof, if you can't see that the ridge vents are clear, you may be next to have this damage inside your home.
  23. Ok, I take the blame... I was bragging about how we don't get snow and cold in Victoria BC. Well, got one foot of snow at my house last night and it is freezing cold {for Victoria} ... hard on the flowers! I am sorry I bragged.....
  24. We have a snow day today! It has been over 2 years since we had a snow day for almost all of our schools, public and private..... It started off wet and rainy yesterday with hail mixed in then it froze up last night real good. Lori got up @ 5:30 it was iced over outside.... she had a shower and came to wake me.... by then there was over an inch ..... now close to a foot deep... still falling and supposed to continue overnight tonight...... No riding now until the weekend at least now...... never thought I would use this smiley on my own thread.....:snow2::snow2: :crying: :crying:
  25. We just got unburied and recovered from the last round of snow. Now forecast is Thur, Sat, Sun, Mon.......SNOW Will it ever quit?
