  1. Planning a trip to New England in mid July and want to take the bikes. Not interested in riding there from Florida ( the wife certainly isn't) plus prefer to maximize time in New England area. Have looked into the Amtrak Autotrain, but that is getting expensive with a sleeper room for our dates to the point that airfare and MC shipping would/may be close the same money. Plus with the Amtrak still need to drive the bike from DC to NH (and Back). Anyone here shipped their bikes from Florida to NE or thereabouts or can otherwise recommend a good MC shipping company? Would be shipping two bikes there and back, my RSTD and my buddy's LC1500. Thank You in Advance, Derrek rstddog
  2. Can someone help me with a good place for shipping a tire to Canada? Im getting prices close to $100.00 I am trying to help a fellow VR member out.
  3. I got an email from Ebay today indicating that they are going to start charging final selling fees on sold items that include the shipping cost. As a carrot type thing, they are now giving 50 free listings a month, so there may be a lot more junk type items listed. This may eliminate the practice that some sellers have been using to reduce the cost of selling items, which is to inflate the shipping cost. I sell some of my wrenches on there and have had them listed as free shipping for a while. Cost reflected this, but it seemed like an eye catcher to someone looking. On a related note, does anyone know how to do a search for Venture parts on Ebay and not get the snowmobile stuff. The Japs didn't know many English words apparently, so they made a snowmobile the same name. This is the search string I use, which eliminates a bunch of snowmobile & 2nd gen stuff, but not all. yamaha venture -gt -700 -1999 -2000 -2001 -2002 -2003 -2004 -2005 -2006 -2007 -2008 -2009 -rsv -600 -snow -star -enticer -blaster -600cc -480cc -wave -viper -vector -xenon -phazer -mountain -exciter -snow* -srx -venom -vt600 -vt480 -vt700 -sxr -carbide Gary

    boats.net

just wondering if anyone else here uses " boats.net" to buy OEM parts ??? I have bought some stuff this winter and thought the price was good and shipping real reasonable. shipping only takes a few days. just curious.
  5. I posted a request for an old cassette player that was not being used. SMSgt stepped up said he had one, shipped it to me and did not even want his shipping expenses reimbersed. HUGE thank you for the very kind gesture. What a great group of people here.
  6. The motor mounts for 1st Generations have been delivered to me and I will be shipping them no later than Friday, March 4, 2011. Each of you that have purchased a set have been sent an email to the address shown on your PayPal payment asking for verification of your shipping addresses. Please respond to the email address that sent the request and not to the private email here on the forum. I thank each and everyone of you who made a purchase and contributed to the discussion. If some would like to order at this time I do have "extras". For more information see : http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?threadid=55960 Again, Thank you all
  7. This seller is currently showing free shipping to Canada .... at least for this RAM mount if anyone is interested. [ame=http://cgi.ebay.com/RAM-Motorcycle-Mount-GARMIN-NUVI-205W-250W-255W-GPS-/360271818528?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item53e1dfaf20]RAM Motorcycle Mount for GARMIN NUVI 205W 250W 255W GPS - eBay (item 360271818528 end time Mar-09-11 07:08:00 PST)[/ame]
  8. Been scanning for some good deals for my up comming maintenace plans. I came across these prices all on one site.Qty Item Total 1 1FK-24560-10 Yamaha Fuel Filter $4.78 1 KN-303 K&N Performance Oil Filter $4.61 4 NGK-DPR8EA-9 NGK Spark Plugs $10.40 Subtotal $19.79 The shipping will be just under 12 bucks. So around $32. The prices seem like a good deal even with the shipping. What do ya think?
  9. I inherited my fathers 1972 Kawasaki 350 Bighorn and have been going over it for a winter project. It was in need of new handlebars because the old ones had been welded so the search was on. All of the original ones on E-bay were rusty so I expanded my search to look at all handlebars. I found some that measured the same as the originals and were also chrome. They were made for a Royal Enfield Motocross but would be coming from NEW DELHI, INDIA. I was hesitant on ordering them but figured I didn't need them for a while anyway. The shipping said it would not come until 2 or 3 weeks time. I ordered them around 4:30 P.M. 1/28/2011 they came today via DHL. 7 days from New Delhi, India. So if you have bought anything overseas have it shipped to India first then to you in no time.
  10. I do believe I would take it all apart and sell every piece if I could get the prices being noted on ebay. I would then buy me another 1st gen, a 2nd gen and pay my house off. I have never sold anything on ebay, so I don't know the particulars, but does it cost anything to list something if it does not sell? I am seeing things like $164 for one mirror off an 87, and we aren't even talking new here. I am also seeing many parts that most just throw or give away because there is so little need for them with outragous prices on them. Normally, when I am surfing Venture parts on ebay, I always go "auction only" and "ending soon". Usually this sorts out most of this stuff, but being bored at lunch here at work and looking at all catagories, I am astounded at what people think they have. And, if thay are not asking rediculously high prices up front, they are wanting extremely high shipping costs. OK, I will quit venting as I did get a TCI last week for an 84/90 1st gen for $16.50 and about $6 shipping. RandyA
  11. Anyone interested in these items....... The Headset is for a full coverage ...Just pay shipping
  12. Know this has been here but was just looking again. Someone from Griffin Georgia has a ton of 1st Gen parts listed. Look OK but he didn't get a nibble. Check his shipping costs. About twice what the parts are worth on top end. I would have bid on a couple of those. But I'm probally wrong. I'll just go back to my corner.
  13. February 12, 2010 post date I have received my order of the steering head bearing nut wrench. I will be shipping out to every one that has ordered one. I have extras, so if you would like one and have not ordered, see below for info. I have include a PDF cut from the 1st Gen & RSV service manuals relating to the procedure to set torque. Pay attention to text about setting torque wrench at a 90 degree angle to wrench. Not doing so will affect torque reading. Also listed below are the threads relating to this tool. Gary http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=45046 http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=44833 http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=44719 http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=44668&highlight=steering+head http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af193/gdingy101/PICT5202.jpg The procedure for setting steering head torque is outlined in the service manuals beginning with the 1986 manual. This is under Periodic Inspection & Adjustment - Chassis - Steering Head Adjustment. Also, if you are the proud owner of the MKI (83-85) Ventures, you could use the procedure outlined in the 86-93 manual. If you need a copy of this procedure I can provide it for you. The tool will work on any year Venture. The same part number is shown in the part fiche from 1983 through the RSV's for the steering head bearing nut. The tool will also work on 1st gen VMaxs & FJR's The tool is laser cut from 1/4" thick, 304 stainless steel. I can supply this tool at a cost of $23.00 including first class shipping to lower 48 US, Canada will be $24.00, first class shipping. I can order more at any time. If you would like to order one or more my paypal address is gary@dinges.com. I will see the paypal transaction in my email. I can also accept check or money orders. PM me for address. 14. Hello, I need some advice, I am selling my 1985 Yamaha VR 1200, I am asking $3000 firm. A person emiled me and wants to ship my bike to Sounth America but to do this he has sent me $3960.00 via paypal. This $3960 is on a hold till I make a $960.00 payment through westerin union to the shipping company with my OWN MONEY. Do you think this is scetchy? From the guys trying to buy my bike: "Before i make the payment, there is something i need you to be aware of,i just received an email from the shipping company that will be in charge of the pick up.They are saying i need to pay them their fees which is $900 before they proceed with coming for it and the only form of payment that they accept is Western Union Money Transfer.Where i am,the nearest union office is 8hrs where i am overseas,I dont know if it will be ok,if i include this agent's fees in the payment i will be sending you now,so on receipt of the total funds, you will remove the additional funds of $900 and help me send it at your local Western Union office.Let me know if this is ok and i will proceed with the payment." shortly after this email, I didn't even get back to him yet and he already put the $3960 into my paypal. I feel he is sort of pushing me into the situation where I have to make the $960 payment(with my own Money) to a shipping company that I do not know and the shipping company picks up on Sundays?. I do not not how W.U. works but i know how paypal works and i know with few clicks of a mouse that $3000 could be back in there bank. Any input will be greatly appreciated, Brendan

  22. In the past, I've used the Scala Rider teamset, and it worked great for what it was. It was also $300 at the time. I'm not sure what it runs nowadays, but I talked my father in law into ordering a knock-off version and he loves it! I just figured I'd share. The shipping was a bit slow, taking around 2 weeks... I've ordered from thei company before, they have a LOT of gizmos and gadgets that are straight from Hong Kong... Here's a link to the headset if anyone is interested! http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.35612

  24. Guys, I would really like to find someone who has a front wheel for a 2nd gen that I could run while I am having mine Chromed. I would pay for shipping. I would like to find one close to Oklahoma if possible I will just need it about 5 weeks. I am also checking salvage yards but I really don't want to but one. It cost 275.00 to have your wheel chromed and takes 4 weeks or you can exchange for 400.00 so if shipping is 25.00 ea way and I could save about 50.00 to 75.00 that is worth a little trouble. Other wise I will prolly just wait for winter.
  25. I give up on my carbs. Just can't make it run right. Pinwall has a set, but there $250 plus shipping. Does anybody have a set they know are good and want to sell?
