Red X

How come when ever I try to post a picture on the forum instead of making it an attachement it comes up as a red X instead of showing the picture
2. Guest

screen name

A lot of you people have real neat screen names. Me, I am not creative at all - maybe my life is too boring to get called a handy nick name. Wondering how you came up with your screen name. Now there is a 2-year old boy that is calling me Mr. Krabs from the Spongebob Square Pants cartoon - I don't know who Mr. Krabs is or why he picked that out for me - maybe because I had a red shirt on and Mr. Krabs maybe has red claws? What is the consensus - should I change my screen name to Mr. Krabs? or is he a rotten character?

4. Three sisters, ages 92, 94 and 96, live in a house together. One night the 96-year-old draws a bath. She puts her foot in and pauses. She yells to the other sisters, 'Was I getting in or out of the bath?' The 94-year-old yells back, 'I don't know. I'll come up and see.' She starts up the stairs and pauses 'Was I going up the stairs or down? The 92-year-old is sitting at the kitchen table having tea listening to her sisters, she shakes her head and says, 'I sure hope I never get that forgetful, knock on wood.' She then yells, 'I'll come up and help both of you as soon as I see who's at the door.' Three retirees, each with a hearing loss, were playing golf one fine March day. One remarked to the other, 'Windy, isn't it?' 'No,' the second man replied, 'it's Thursday.' And the third man chimed in, 'So am I. Let's have a beer.' Two elderly ladies had been friends for many decades. Over the years, they had shared all kinds of activities and adventures. Lately, their activities had been limited to meeting a few times a week to play cards. One day, they were playing cards when one looked at the other and said, 'Now don't get mad at me ... I know we've been friends for a long time, but I just can't think of your name! I've thought and thought, but I can't remember it. Please tell me what your name is.. Her friend glared at her for at least three minutes she just stared and glared at her. Finally she said, 'How soon do you need to know?' As a senior citizen was driving down the freeway, his car phone rang. Answering, he heard his wife's voice urgently warning him, 'Herman,I just heard on the news that there's a car going the wrong way on Interstate 77.. Please be careful!' 'Hell,' said Herman, 'It's not just one car. It's hundreds of them!' Two elderly women were out driving in a large car - both could barely see over the dashboard. As they were cruising along, they came to an intersection. The stoplight was red, but they just went on through. The woman in the passenger seat thought to herself 'I must be losing it. I could have sworn we just went through a red light.' After a few more minutes, they came to another intersection and the light was red. Again, they went right through. The woman in the passenger seat was almost sure that the light had been red but was really concerned that she was losing it. She was getting nervous At the next intersection, sure enough, the light was red and they went on through. So, she turned to the other woman and said, Mildred, did you know that we just ran through three red lights in a row? You could have killed us both!' Mildred turned to her and said, 'Oh, darn, am I driving ?' Doug:missingtooth:
5. Does anyone know if candy apple is the red color of the 2007 RSTD in Red Raven. I am looking at a tour trunk for my bike on e-bay and they say they have one in candy apple red. Will this match the color of my bike ???????? :confused24: I seem to think that I read here somewhere that candy apple is the red color, and could not find on site. Thanks in advance.... Fuzzy
6. The little red X's that are supposed to be pics. I have never been able to open these. Just lived with it but there is a " BLUE" 84 in our classifieds and I can't see it. With 12k miles??:crying::crying:
7. I leave work at 1:00 am every night. The traffic lights do not change to green untill aproached by a cage and ignores motorcycles. When driving my truck I have notice that the light changes in 16 seconds. So, when I approach the light with my motorcycle I count off 20 seconds then go through if the way is clear. Last night I was pulled over for crossing on a red light. I explained the above situation to the officer and after verifying my license he let me off. Who is too say the next time I will get let off though and as I explained to him I can't sit there all night waiting for a cage to approach the light. I know this is not an uncommon occurance, so how do the rest of you deal with these situations
8. Hello Folks, I am assuming from the picture I have attached that the previous owner must have done the grease zerk mod for the drive shaft. However I have know idea what type of grease to use. Also can someone tell me if the shim that the red arrow is pointing to in picture is stock for my 85 VR or is this some kind of MOD as well. Thank you
9. One of my buddies has a Harley Fatboy (he's not too bright). But I didn't see his bike all last year. I asked him why isn't he riding, and he said, "you'll see". He came to work all this year with such a bad a$$ paint job, he made all of us want to paint our bikes. The truth is, with a regular bike (without the saddle bags, front fenders and touring pack), it's much easier to design and paint something cool. But with all the extra stuff on the Venture, I think it's harder to keep clean flowing lines. I've looked at 3 other posts that have a few custom paint jobs. Some I like, some I didn't care for. I'm a simple guy. Maybe flames, but everyone has them. I'm not much for murals. Two tone might be my best answer. I have a 2000 RSV with the red on red color. Does anyone have a custom (even if it's slightly custom) second generation RSV they'd like to show off. I'd love to get some ideas. I'm leaning towards candy red with an ostrache seat. Any pics will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
10. Has anyone used these? they are a tire pressure monitor that stays on your valve stem so you can see at a glance if your pressure was ok. These are different than most as they dont actually measure tire pressure, they will pop up a red flag if the tire pressure drops by 3 lbs or so and are supposed to be engineered not to leak if broken off or unscrewed. http://www.autogeek.net/kwtc.html Brian
11. I have read a couple of posts about cleaning the contacts in the kill switch. Can someone explain how to get at them. I split the housing and see a white block under the red switch, does the red switch pop off the top of the housing and the block pull out to get at the contacts? Thanks..
12. I just got back from the Red River NM rally....I spotted several late model Ventures, and a few 1st gens too. I even saw a few Ventures with the Voyager style trike kits. I did talk briefly to one Venture rider, who was parking on the main drag, and asked him if he had heard of our website, and he said yes, he had checked it now and then. We gotta get the word out somehow! Here are a few pics of the rally and our little group.

15. can i ask for a prayer for a friend of mine? shes the one who drives the pink crotch rocket well she was going home from work yesterday and was heading straight. with a green light when a lady made a right hand turn on a red or should i say she made the right but didnt stop for the red. my friend hit the back of the car. there are skid marks from her hitting the brakes. i shouldnt say she hit the rear more like the quarter panel and it took her down. speed limit is 35 mph as this road soon leads to a 55 mph highway. well she has a broken right wrist. a sore right knee. but she wheres full body gear. thank god. the driver of the cage was charged with improper turn. failure to give right of way. her excuse was her dog jumped in her lap and she didnt see the motorcycle. so they charged her with improper restraint of her dog as well?? bike will need new forks and lots of body plastic.? im thinking they should total it but not sure? so thanks to all for your prayers her name is dianne olson 30 years old been riding bikes since she was 16.
16. You are alive .Where have you been?
17. So there we were (Nina & I), stopped at a red light on a 4-lane street, with left turn lanes, us in the inside lane waiting for the green to go straight thru. I'm watching the light for it to turn yellow for the cross traffic. We're first out. Light changes yellow...then red and..... BANG! Two cars travelling opposing direction on the cross street collide right in front of us. One was making a left turn, the other going straight thru. The one going straight thru (a red car) hit the one turning left (a blue car) near the right rear door and caused it to slide a bit. The red car stopped, the blue car regained control, made the turn and stopped at the curb. They both RAN THE RED LIGHT !!! So I get out to offer assistance to the driver of the red car...still stopped in the middle of the intersection. She asked for my info (which I would have given her) but I said "you should know that both of you ran the red light". She immediately argued that and didn't want my info so I thought "too bad" and I left. (nobody was injured). I reported it to the police and gave my statement to ICBC (govern't insurance co). My thinking is, if I can do anything to stop idiots who are in too much of a hurry that they run a red light, I will. Danged if I'm going to let either one of those drivers get away with that! ps... we weere in the truck, not the scoot, on our way to work.
18. Does any one have the two paint codes for the 2000 red two-tune venture. I need to know witch red is the top and witch red is the bottom. I'm having a custom fishing rod made in that color. :cool10::cool10:
19. Okay, I'm repainting my RSV. I really like the red of the H@nda GW. But now I was at this meeting, and there I saw a blue and red standing together. And I was very charmed of the blue one too. So here is my question, has anyone a picture o a dark-blue RSV? I searched om this forum, but that is really very time consuming. thanks in advance

Near hit

I may need to get my seat fixed, while riding two up with my daughter on a narrow country road we meet a white pick up truck coming in our direction driving very slow as if looking for an address or something and then from behind the truck a red truck came around a curve way to fast and could not stop for the white truck it took to the ditch on the right side of the white truck and passed it in the ditch came back in the road in front of the truck with it’s front wheels off the ground coming straight at us I took the ditch on my right avoiding the red truck a mail box and then the white truck. After my daughter was able to talk she said at one point she could have touched the red truck and the mail box at the same time. If we had been in four wheels we could not have got out of the way. Good thing is no one was hurt, bike got a couple of scraps.
21. .....is worth over doing. Or the title could be, yea but it's still white. Anyways, my new to me low $$ trailer cleaned up pretty well but it was still white. I thought that it should probably match my red over dark red scooter a little better, and I also figured that I just didn't have enough money into a toy that I may not even use that much. Sooooo. I picked up two new tire/wheel combo's and checked/re-packed the wheel bearings. Then I noticed that the chrome on the coupler was looking a tad shabby. Another trip to the trailer shop solved that little problem. I had also went through all of the wiring and rearranged the tail lights from red running/stop with amber turns signals, to all four red running/stop/turns. (thanks for all of the help guys) After the light re-wire I decided that all of those conventional lights were pulling a lot of power and leds are the way to go. One more trip to the trailer store (and way too much money lighter) and I have the full compliment of tail lights/clearance markers/license plate leds awaiting install when the paint is done. 60 total leds. Well, you can't go that far without going even further, so the two tone paint to match the scoot is in process. It was a huge pain getting the factory graphics/pin stripping off. All of the rust was ground (grinded?) off of the trailer frame and a couple of coats of Rustoleum applied. Did I forget to mention the seven tie down loops that are going inside to make it easier to keep things inside in place? Maybe I should start working on a design for a cooler carrier and a spare tire bracket??? I really hope I don't dislike pulling a trailer behind my bike. I've never pulled one with two wheels before. pics so far
22. I had mentioned I bought a nice old Harley davidson, light bar, from an 1985 Police bike. after reviewing the HOW-TO on this site. I started the project. 45 minutes later, they red light bar was done, works great. I now have 4 brake lights on back. now if I only had a camera that worked....
23. I just came across, a great find. an old light bar set of an old Harley Davidson Police motorcycle. with the Big dark Red Round light.and I want to get them re-chromed. anyone know of a good chromer?
24. Hi, Finally got the 84 VR all put back together after a long winter tear down..Replaced collector, new swing arm bushings, starter rebuild and misc other stuff...Started her up today for the first time... runs great.....BUT Gas gauge shows empty and of course the darn little red light is flashing , but the tank was half full... rode to the gas station, filled it up and still shows empty. This happened once last year for about 10 minutes then good all summer.. What to check first??? fuel sender, float...gauge itself??? Any advice on where to begin would be appreciated...Can certainly ride it, but do not like the little red light and I'd rather know the gas level Thanks, Clay
25. And here is one for my fellow red meat eaters.
