  1. I've got a Garmin nuvi 255w gps. I have the ball mount for use in the car. What I need is a handle bar mount for my RSV. Can't find any thing at garmin.com. Where should I be looking for a mount? I did stick it to the windshield with the suction cup, but it fell off at hwy speeds and scared the s--t out of me. I grabed it before it fell off the tank and gave it to the wife..
  2. I have a 1986 VR.I bought a markland hitch for it but dummy me can't figure how to mount it.Any one have pictures of one installed would be a blessing. Now I am on my knees,,,,please..
  3. Last summer, I picked up set of warn-n-safe gloves and jacket at the local shop on clearance. I then found out my bike couldn't handle the load so they just sat. Now that I have the new ride, I'd like to get them hooked up. So my question to those of you have this stuff, where do you mount the controller or should it just go in a pocket or something like that. Do you need to get at it very often? I know they have several different versions of the controller and I'm wondering which to get and how to hook it up.
  4. Love to listen to Books on Tape (cd) when traveling so I am looking for a CD player to mount to my RSTD. Looking for input here. I know most have switched to mp3's so maybe someone has one collecting dust they would like to part with? Also looking for idea's on how to mount it to the RSTD? I have an amplifier and speakers for my ipod so I could use some advice on how to put all that together? I'm envisioning switching between the two, when the mode strikes but audio is not my forte!
  5. I need thoughts "pro or amatuer" on a gps mount. I am thinking of the N-B238U standard mount on the plastic cowl, forward and to the left of the gas cap. a 3.5" arm N-B201U to get the unit up closer to the speedo and cass. player. I have the garmin nuvi 255w and i'm thinking this will help keep it out of the wind and weather. the steering should go lock to lock without it beeing in the way, i think. any thoughts please chime in, thanks. tired of getting lost......
  6. Ok for you electrical guys I have added a fuse block under my seat and I have a gps and sat radio on a ram mount on the resv mount and had run the cig plug power cord inside the fairing where I pulled the cig port out of the fairing and put a splitter in it. Now I have replaced the outlet in the fairing and am wondering if i can pull a power line from the block for it? how would i wire it together ? recommendations on fuse size? thanks guys
  7. I purchased the Stebel air Horn mount and wiring from Carbon-one on this site and I received today in the mail. I got to tell you, Carbon-one does and Xcellent job with the wiring harness and the mount! They look better than professional. The mount is chrome and looks great! The wiring harness is just perfect in design and I just couldn't believe how well it all looks for just $27.00! If you don't have this equipment, you should get. It is the Bomb! Thanks Carbon-one! First class equipment for my baby! Mark:bowdown:
  8. I am looking for a clutch master cyclinder cover so that I can mount my tachometer to the top of the clutch. My brake side has a switch box already it so it has to go on the clutch side. ANYBODY got one and how much? And I need a picture so I can figure out a mount. Give a shout if you got one. Thanks much from the popcicle of the north, Minnesota.:yikes: Bubber
  9. I have now lost two marine grade drink holders off the handlebars. I'm going to a RAM Mount system. It's been dead reliable for my GPS, and when I get a video camera, I'll mount to the same place. I am a fan of the RAM Mount system. My question is whether anyone has used one for passenger drink holding? I have an RSTD, so mounting it to the saddle bag guards is about my only option. Anyone have experience with RAM Mounts there? Dave
  10. I bought a Tom Tom 920 off Craigslist today for only 80 bucks! Has bluetooth, mp3 player, and much more. I think I did well!!! Now to get a mount for the cycle!!!
  11. I just received my camera, where/what method is the best ? has anyone tried the helmet mount or helmet staps ? Cb
  12. I have a small problem now. I bid on a Garmin 2730 on the 23rd of Dec and then promptly forgot about it because it was only for $199. Then the other day I was in a pawn shop. (my wifes family owns 2 and I am addicted) and saw a Zumo 550 (no mount or cable) for $20!!!!!!. When I got home I found out that I won the 2730 also. Which one should I mount? I have to buy the complete wiring and mount for the zumo, but think I would prefer it afterwards. What do you think?
  13. I just purchased the Ram Mount Reservoir Cover from MotorcycleLarry.com. This is the cover that replaces the OEM reservoir cover and has a RAM BALL on one end of it. I am just curious for those of you that use this mount...Did you put it on the Right or Left (I am assuming most put it on the left)...and more importantly, do you have the BALL to the inside of the bike or the outside? Do you use the 2" arm or the 3" arm and do you mount it ABOVE the Com/Audio Controller or over to the side. Thanks for any and all help on this. Wally
  14. Here is a link to a recall on the new HD gas tank mounts. Just in case anyone has switched over to the other side. LOL HD Recall Gas Tank Mount Spotsy
  15. i've posted this request in the Watering Hole and considering my request is about RSTD i thought i would post here as well. i have an 07 midnight RSTD and was instalingl passing lamp mount bar part # STR-1D635-40-00 and found that i cannot fit my OEM flasher lamp onto the special bolt which is provided with the mount bar kit. the mount bolt is .020 (20 thousandth) larger in diameter than the flasher lamp mount hole (with rubber sleeve removed). no way it will fit. anyone here with an 07 that has done the passing lamp mod and if so could you provide me with the part numbers you used to do the job....thanks....HELP !! Merry Christmas to all ........ buz
  16. Anyone have one or heard of it? Basically you have a non-waterproof electronic device and you put it in this waterproof box. Click on the word Aqua below and it will take you to a web-site I found. Says it will work with any Ram mount. Also says the screen is flexible so you can use the touchscreen. Aqua Box
  17. Has anyone used the Mirror Frame mount for their Garmin? It looks as if this mount would have the mirror threaded through it and like it would work well on the RSV. Also, if you are using it what length arm did you go with? The item description is: Motorcycle / Bike MIRROR FRAME Mount for GARMIN NUVI 200W 205W 250W 255W 260W 265WT 465T GPS
  18. is it ok to ride two up (my wife) during PGR missions? what is best way to mount the flag on a RSTD and where?
  19. I want to buy and install a cigarette lighter on my 2007 RSTD. Does anyone have any ideas where I can pick one up and where is a good place to mount it. Any suggestions/information would be most helpful Thanks Mark:fingers-crossed-emo
  20. Hey guys, got a question for ya? I've put an XM radio (mount on master cylinder) and power it from the cigarette lighter. I also have a Garmin GPS on a ram mount on the other side right above the stock radio. My question: I'm using the power outlet for the XM, but am having to use the internal battery for the GPS. Does anyone know of a "duplex" device that will FIT into the stock power port and allow me to use 12V power for both? The adapter's I've tried will NOT clear the tank when the bars are turned. Ideas?
  21. Ok here goes... The Garmin site says that the 785T is compatible with an external mic. Does anyone here have one they can look at for me? How about the Ram Mount bracket? What I want to know is Where is the mic input? Unit or Cradle? If it is in the cradle does the Ram Mount cradle have it as well? I really want to be able to use my phone if necessary and cannot justify $700 for the Zumo 550. The 785T has all the features I want for $300 and I can bag it if it looks like rain. Any input here is welcome.... and appreciated.. Wayne OR does anyone want to sell me a Zumo 550 for $400 or less??
  22. I have a Blackberry Bold and I bought a mount from "the Mountguys" on the web. It was a fairly inexpensive way to mount the BB to listen to my music. However, after about 30 days I noticed a crack in the back of the mount and within another month the crack was all the way across the mount and it broke in half. I contacted the Mount Guys and they denied ever having a problem with them but, replaced the head (holder part) anyway. Well another 45 days later and I have a large crack across the back of my newest holder. I contacted the Mountguys and they informed me that they still have had no issues from anyone else on this mount and would not be replacing it again in spite of the fact that both item failed in exactly the same place and manner. Those of you who know me know that my 99 is well kept and in fact, still looks almost new and I take good care of it so the part was not abused. I am now going to find another supplier for some type of mount to hold my BB as, I have already run the cable back into the fairing and cleaned up the look etc. I won't buy again from this provider. Anyone have suggestions for a BB mount on the handlebars? boo www.mountguys.com :sign **** happens:
  23. Finally got the tour-pack on thanks to the bracket from (member) naturbar. The 1998 TC is a little different from the late model TDs, in that there were no quick mount lugs and the rear holes are a little more than a inch different. Oh well, after I finally convinced the parts guy at the stealership that quick mount lugs were in the '05 TD parts book, not in the accessories book I got them ordered. Cut the stand-offs off the bracket and redrilled the holes. One twice, after my machinist son-in-law mis-measured:doh:. Anyway now it's on...
  24. In the past I have been one of those riders that gets on his bike and just rides! With that being said, Jean surprised me big time and got a Garmin Nuvi 855 as my birthday present over the weekend. (Bless her heart!) Well needless to say I spent the better part of Sunday shopping around for a mount for the thing. By the time I was finished, I felt old. There were so many choices and they looked so complicated to install and operate I said, "the heck with it" and made my own. I went to the hardware store, bought a 7/16-14 Stainless Steel bolt, a nylon inserted lock nut, a 10-32 set screw and went to the shop. As you can see in the pics, It went pretty quick. I heated the bolt with my little torch, put a couple bends in it, machined off the bolt head, drilled and tapped it for the 10-32 set screw, machined a Delrin ball for the mount, drilled and tapped it for the 10-32 set screw. On my 87'VR there was a hole plugged for what looked like a mirror, I drilled and tapped this mirror stem hole to 7/16-14 and screwed the mount together. After a test ride, the mount worked perfectly but I think I am going to add a strip of Velcro to the back of the GPS, just for safety's sake. Comments, questions are always welcome, Thanks for letting me share, and thanks Jean for a great birthday gift! Earl
  25. I don't know if there is interest in this or not, but I'm working on a gauge mount for Tour Deluxes. If anyone has a used (scratched, dented, etc.) tank panel they could send me, I would send them a gauge mount for free after I get a final product complete. Thanks, Ponch
