  1. This site is AWESOME and has really helped me out a lot! Just thought that I would share how I mounted my GPS to my '86 scoot. I had tried mounting to the handle bars but found it vibrated more that I liked, was not well protected by the windshield & was too far out of my line of sight to feel safe. After a lot of thought I figured out that I could mount it to my fork because it is very stable & already has threads. It also positions the GPS in a good line of sight & is well protected by the windscreen. I had access to a small lathe so I made the custom spacer & bought the aluminum RAM mount components. See pics for more detail. I really like it and have made one for a friend that has an '84 venture.
  2. I'm am wanting to install a CB on the 83 Venture I just bought. I have all the parts and cables but I need the upper right side fairing piece for an 86VR where the CB and Class controllers mount. It has the hinged access for the overflow bottle. If anyone has one available I sure would like to buy it. You can contact me at ama-dist45@comcast.net The other option would be to mount it in the original place for an 83 but I can't find any pictures for the location. Happy trails, Barlow
  3. This seller is currently showing free shipping to Canada .... at least for this RAM mount if anyone is interested. 4. just received my new front and rear Venom X tires - the rear appears to have small cracks all around it (or maybe these are just molding marks?) - the date code is 4310, so they are fairly new? i've attached a pic - for those who have had this problem would you confirm that my tire needs to go back for replacement or should i mount it? TIA......
  5. I thought this year I would save some $ and purchase a tire on line only to find out the local yamaha dealer won't mount it. The shop foreman said they weren't allowed to (chain of something to do with tires). Is this bs or is there some truth in this?
  6. I'm contemplating dumping my Sirius radio in favour of an mp3 player. I know nothing about these things as I've never had one so am looking for a little guidance. What do ya'll use? Does it plug into the aux port on the scoot? How do you keep it charged up? How did you mount it on your scoot? How much did it cost? Any other info you can provide? ...and I am cheap so don't want to give up my arm and leg for one. Thanks
  7. Planning on putting a 12" flag pole and 6x9" flag on my RSV. Was wondering a couple things : 1) saddle bag trim rail diameter - I picked up a pole and adapter at the bike show but the 1/2" mount doesn't fit the rails (Show Chrome). 1/2" mount seems to be common but think the rails are 3/4". Anyone confirm what size they used? Suggestions on getting just the 3/4" mount or do I have to buy another flag pole? 2) for maintenance.... better to mount the flag on the left or right side of the bike? Will mount on the back end of the rails so it doesn't interfere with the saddle bag lids. Didn't want to mount the pole on a side that would interfere with maintenance (eg tire change, eventual rear shock change) Thanks in advance.
  8. Thought you guys might lke to see this . . . I needed some cargo space that would accommodate my lap top & case (just a bit too big to fit into either of my hard bags) as well as a few other work items. So, I did some surfing and purchased an after market case and then fabicated a bracket to mount it over my rear fender. Check out the attached photos. - Norm. NOTE: I ride solo as my wife has her own ride.
  9. Any suggestions where to mount a mini volt meter on an 89 VR. Protected from rain preferred. Size of mounting hole is M4.3cm×2.3cm(1.7" x 0.9").
  10. If I remember correctly this ignition tach/temp guage mount was built by a local Star rider who has passed away. I'd heard of them, but had never seen one. I kinda like it. Anyone have a different story on the thing. These pics are the only I've ever seen. I tried to buy this set but the bike seller said no way Jose'....
  11. Won the Fleabay auction on a Garmin Nuvi 225, for $55.00 bucks. Then bought (now) a waterproof handle bar mount, again from Fleabay, for $17.00 and change. Not a gazillion dollar Zumo, but.....
  12. Got a Garmin 550 off of fleabay last night for $38.59! Now I am looking for handlebar mount and a waterproof container although I think someone mentioned that they are waterproof!? Thanks All!!
  13. Like to mount this on side of my 1st Gen see how many would notice it!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Phazer-Venture-Inviter-recoil-pull-starter-/290504862533?pt=Snowmobile_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43a3706b45
  14. Hi All Im starting to look for a drink mount and a mount for a sirus radio. I would like somthing made out of metal not out of plastic. Thanks Bull463
  15. I am looking for a replacement antenna for my 1985 Ventureproject bike. Does anyone know of a direct replacement or do I need to make an adapter for the mount to accept standard radio antennas. Will such a set up work Michael Smegielski Waterbury, CT
  16. Hey folks.... I was wondering... when you wired your bike for the trailer... what did you do with the connector?? Is there a way to mount it to the hitch?? not sure what to do with it. The trailer I bought has a 5-pin round connector...... your thoughts???

  19. Have any of you come up with a way to mount your DOD decals that won't ruin the paint/chrome/windshield? I was thinking about putting the sticker on a plate, then somehow attaching the plate to the bike (windshield mount bolts?). This would allow me to remove it someday without damaging the bike surface where the decal was. If you have done anything along this line please share your ideas. Thanks, Nico
  20. Saw this today - thought I'd pass it on for those looking for a camera to mount on their cycle: http://www.1saleaday.com/
  21. I was browsing through the Custom Dynamics web site a few days ago and found these little LED license plate bolts. http://www.customdynamics.com/illuminatorz_licence_plates.htm#LED_Tag_Bolts I thought they were kind of clever so I ordered a set and just installed them tonight. I decided to mount them to either side of the plate on their own bracket. Otherwise they would have to be disconnected in order to remove the plate. I wired them as brake lights and they add a little twinkle to the lower corners of the plate. Here's a photo. Dennis
  22. Since I have been unable to find a receiver hitch for my 1st gen MKII, I decided that I will make one this winter. I have a Markland hitch that I acquired off of eBay and I will use the two front tubes from that for attachment to the bike. I have designed a new part to replace the big chrome platform that Markland uses. Once I have this done and am sure that I will not need any dimensions off of the chrome ball mount, then it will be up for sale. Here are the cad drawings for the receiver to replace the stock Chrome ball mount. I still have some dimensions to finalize but this is the jest of what it will look like.
  23. I have a trailer hitch used that I bought for my 84 venture the guy said it came off of an 83 but I can't get anything to line up plus I have no clue where it is supposed to mount,I don't know if it is the wrong one or I am trying to mount it wrong if someone has a first gen venture with a trailer hitch please call Tom @ 772 260-5431 and let me know what I am doing wrong.
  24. I just got an MKII trunk delivered the other day. But I need the brackets that bolt the front of the trunk to the chrome mount. The ones I circled in red in the picture. Anybody have a couple they want to part with? I had also bought a mount assuming that it would be a simply bolt onto my MKI. But it doesn't. So I'm going to have to either modify the mount to fit my MKI, or modify the trunk to fit my MKI mount. The plus side to the later it that I might be able to take it on & off with a key like the MKI trunk. Who knows? Bill Oh ya! a couple of those pouches I circled in blue would be nice as well.
  25. So I went down to the local dealer the other day, and they had a bunch of stuff on clearance for 75% off. So I grabbed everything that they had that would fit my bike. They had the passing light mounts, but not the lamps. They did however have a lightbar with some lamps mounted to it, so I bought that too (not the right lamps for this bike, but I made them work). I also grabbed some other stuff and sold it on ebay, and it paid for my whitewall tires and saddlebag rails. Well anyway, after all the great posts on this site, I was able to tear off my own wheels, grease the splines and got it all back together. I did, however, mess up, and didn't get the driveshaft back in the u-joint properly. I had to rip it back apart in 100 degree weather, and get it fixed. I was able to get it all put back and cleaned up. For under $200, I was able to pick up... All 3 fender tips, 2 leather bags (one for the backrest, and one for the front) I wanted to mount the one on the front under the headlamp, but I am still trying to figure out how to mount it. I also got the front fender rail and passing lamp mount and assembly. Anyway, today I got it all finished up, and I like the way it came out. I am Godlover's son, and he got me into this site, then sold his RSV? Go figure!! Well, what I can say is, Thank You for the wealth of knowledge y'all share.
