  1. I know that I have seen lists of ebay listings on bikes that have sold in the last couple months posted here before. If anybody know how to do this, could you pull and PM me a list of 1st gens sold in the last 2 months? The Tax man said I will need this to get an average of what the Rafflebike donation is worth so we'll know what to claim next year.
  2. Who is coming to Vogel, registrations are slow..........I am getting antsy...........just a little of 2 months away..........
  3. Finally! Here it is: 2 months of work, 2 months of asking you guys and gals for advice and help, and now i can finally put the rubber to the road with much pride and even more joy. I have to thank all of you for your help and i hope that my efforts will help resonate the pride that we all have and the respect that comes with being the stewards of these dignified works of art. i realize that this isn't everybody's cup of tea, but for me it couldn't go any other way. i will not be upset at any criticism you may have so don't hold back - i do want your honest opinions. Thank you all so very much...... http://i554.photobucket.com/albums/jj424/sarahantin/STINKYPINKY.jpg

    Back to basics

With the riding season in bloom, I thought the following article - written by the fellow who does the "Ride Like a Pro" videos - worth sharing. Regardless of how long you've ridden, its always good to have a quick refresher, especially if you haven't been on a bike in a few months. Cheers,
  5. To all my fellow riders in the very deep southern parts of Canada like Texas and Arizona :rotf:you don’t know what you’re missing. The temperature in Ontario hit a blistering 5 Celsius (41 Fahrenheit) and I couldn’t stand it anymore No one wanted to ride because it was to darn cold. The sky was cloud free, so I mounted the iron pony and set out though places like the Niagara escarpment, Beaver Valley, River Road and Osler Bluffs. Three hours non stop, and I was frozen stiff when I got home. It took 1 ½ hrs to thaw the smile off my face. Thank god winter is only 6 months long or I’d have to move to southern Ontario around Jacksonville or Tallahassee. I'm sure glad spring is here. Ride safely and enjoy the season.
  6. Hi from over the pond here in the UK July last year i swapped my BMW K1200LT for a 2001 Venture to enable my wife who has a disability a weakness to her left leg which makes it difficult to get aboard, So a lower and easier bike to mount was purchased the Venture it had all the toys the beemer has and a nice big fat saddle to rest my ample behind on. After living with this bike for a month ( let me first apologise for my next comment) What a load of F****N C*** this pile of S*** is. Its heavy and doesnt corner the worst bike i have ever owned. I need to get rid of it but guess what S*** happens i find myself out of work so it has to stay at least for a while till new work can be found and funds raised to get a bike that corners. 9 months on still out of work, world recession, no work. Ive read a few threads on the forum and hear a lot about downsizing the front tyre to 130, so found a nice man who had a set of avon venoms white walls for sale so they were fitted front 130/90 16 rear 150/90 15 WOW!!!!!! This turns a real pig into such a riders bike it corners so easy and slow speed handling is great should have done this earlier its a pleasure to ride and can cope with all that the UK,s B roads can throw at it After 10 months I am converted, its the Dogs
  7. I did a search regarding this, but did not find one. I bought my bike last October ('08) with only 1 mile on the odometer. It is an '07. The Service Manual stated to replace coolant and brake fluid every certain # of miles OR 24 Months. I may be closing in on 24 Months, but I only have 3200 miles on the bike. Do I still need to replace Brake Fluid and Coolant this year or Wait until I reach my 2nd anniversary of ownership?
  8. Not trying to start a "which is best" thread. Just looking for some input from Rotella users. Do you use RotellaT 15W40 or Syn 5W40? What did you use before swithcing to Rotella? Did you notice any change in idle or shifting? Same change intervals? How long have you been using Rotella (miles)? Right now I use Mobil 1 at 5000 mile intervals. Bike has 19,200 in 19 months. Take out winter months and it is more like 19,200 in 15 months. Thanks
  9. So I like to price shop. (yeah I am part dutch) I called credit union "A" for a loan for the Venture I want to pick up this weekend. they gave me a quote of 8.5% and a 36 month term. Called credit union "B" and the loan officer said off the cuff, without looking at my credit history, 7% and 48 month term. Called credit union "A" and asked them to match credit union "B" for terms (7% and 48 months). They said they would get back to me. Credit union "B" calls back and says I am approved for 8% at 60 months. I tell them I don't want a 60 month, but a 48 month, they tell me it's the same interest rate regardless of the loan. I tell them I will get back to them after "A" calls back. Credit union "A" calls back and says I am approved at 7% for 48 months. I accept the offer. Looks like I am going to pick up a second Gen for Valentine's day!
  10. Well 22 years of building Aerial and Underground Cable TV Systems has taken a toll on my hips. My left hip is in the worst shape. After seeing 3 Doctors they they came to the conclusion that I need a Birmingham Hip resurfacing, Not quite a full hip replacement. \ They elected to do this instead of a full replacement because they say Im to young. My question is, has anyone on here had this done and how long was the recovery period.\ From what I have read it is 6 to 12 months. Will have it done sometime between March and May. This means the wife and I will be caging to the International Rally which really sucks since its here right in our back yard. Once the hip is healed then will have my foot done which is another 4 to 6 months recovery. Doc says right hip will probably need to be done also in the next 3 years. So looks like my bike might be sitting for a while John

  12. I just paid my motorcycle insurance tonight. It's snowing outside with another 5 months of the stuff.:snow2:

  14. hard to believe its been another month already...... time for another court hearing tomorrow morning...... wonder how months this will go on before something happens?? I did find out something last week that kind of upset me....i asked the detective handling our case if there had been any dna testing done from H's clothes, swabs, etc just in case this goes to trial.....NO..he said he goofed up by not doing it ( on the perp) the night the guy was arrested..now its in the hands of the court.... I simply wonder why they wouldnt order it now ( just in case) instead of waiting months down the rode if theres a trial and then having to wait months more for the results?????????? Why not have it done and ready?
  15. As some of you know...I was passed over for a promotion at one of my companies new locations a few months back...I was pretty angry about it because they hired an outsider with no exp. what so ever and I had been signed off for the promotion for over 2 years and was just biding my time....well little Ms."we thinks shes a better fit" didn't even make it 4 months. SOOOOO FINALLY.....I got the promotion I hade been waiting for all this time. FINALLY. I even talked them into more money than what they had offered originally. 'bout time I was on the right side of the stick!
  16. Just bought an '83 VR that seems to want to lean to the left while riding. I'm a first time rider and would like any advice I can get about how to proceed with figuring this out. This bike, that is in better shape, replaces an '83 VR that I have been riding for two months. My first one tracks like a dream. Tires are new looking.....wheel seems tight and no noise while spinning.....forks look staight, but what do I know.....HELP!!!!!
  17. For those of you who buy on credit a question? Yamaha factory financing rates are 7.99% for 72 months. Is this a good deal compared to say a bank? Are motorcycle financing rates higher then an automobile? I have used Yamaha before on ATV financing and found the minimum payment due is less then half the normal monthly payment on promotion.I never had to use that option but found it nice in case of temporary hard times. No money down just sign and drive. Don't forget about the catch though. If a payment is missed the default rate goes to say 27% or if the promotion is not paid in full at 72 months you can expect 18.99% for the balance.Banks may be cheaper interest but require money down or shorter terms. No I'm not buying just always looking.
  18. Now that we have 3 computers on the go,,,,,, I got time to get on the site, The past 2 months with had problems with our wireless That has been resolved Anyways my new E-mail address .....e_fishin_c@yahoo.ca
  19. Hey guys, I just got my 2007 back from the shop having some new plastic put on it because of my recent accident. It looks great and runs even better but I'm thinking about selling it and getting a jeep. 2007 Yamaha Venture(midnight and raven) with a few extras including new bub's exhaust from the engine all the way back. It has 14,000 miles. I also have a Cyclemate Zephyr trailer that I bought about 4 months ago and it's been pulled about 7-800 miles and it's the top of the line for Cyclemate. It's black gel coat and has a spoiler with bumper plus pad on front of trailer. If I sell it I want to sell it all together as a unit. It looks great!!! Eddie Flinchum 1-859-749-0181
  20. as everyone knows, these mkII's won't run worth a tinker's dam, without the air filter in place. mine will run JUST long enough , without the "enrichment lever at about 1/2, to see that the #4 diaphragm doesn't move when you turn the throttle.then it dies. need troubleshooting help on this one. i had the diaphragms all out a few months ago, and did the "liquid tape " repair on a few small cracks and pinholes. question is WHY is #4 the only one that doesn't dance? it isn't "frozen up", as i can move it manually. any help would be greatly appreciated. just jt:confused07:
  21. Is it safe to put a battery maintainer on this type battery during the Winter months? Comments welcomed! Regards.........Boomer
  22. Goes out to everyone who attended, participated and thoroughly enjoyed the 2008 Kitchener International Rally. You are what made this Rally a success. Every stop I felt bad having to get you back on your bikes because the comradory was self evident. Whether it was riding, socalizing, out for dinner, sitting by the fire till 1:00 oclock in the morning(which I now nominate Shari with the name of "GIGGLES") every moment of every day was complete enjoyment. Special thanks goes to those that pitched in and assisted in every manner to bring this week together and make it a success. Thank you Reiny for putting up with me and my crap for the last 6 months. And a special thanks to my wife Gayle for assisting me, and for making it a lot easier for me to do my part. I am truely thankful that we could share with you our little part of the world and look forward to were ever the next rally will take us. Pics will be forth coming. Again Thank You:bighug: Hal

    Moonshine Lunch Run

Do any members normally attend the Moonshine Lunch Run in Illinois in April? http://moonshine-run.com/Moonshine/ If so, maybe we'll run into you there (not literally, I hope) in a couple of months. Cheers,

  25. Well, The Bike has been sitting for about 4 months now through this long long Iowa Winter. I did get a chance to change the plugs , oil , yadda yadda yadda..... Oh I took a 10 mile ride yesterday! *WOW* Still lots of sand and real bad holes in the roads. As some of you know about 1.5 years ago my Radiator had a pin hole in it and I got it welded. and it has been fine until today.. now I notice wetting right at the lip on the bottom of the radiator.. not sure why after sitting for FOUR Months now it decides to leak? anyways unless you guys can figure why it is leaking again.. I am going to order a new one ANY SUGGESTIONS???? where? what to pay? ect... Thanks for any input. AND if I do install a new one I will write another how to remove the RSV Radiator! Jeff
