Title pretty much says it all. I've sent a few private messages, but have been unable to tell if they were sent since they don't show up in my SENT messages folder. Am I missing something? (Other than the messages that is )

Pulled the mufflers off my bike tonight to replace a tire. Loosened the clamp bolts, gave the left one a wiggle and came off as normal, did the same to the right started pulling on the muffler and all the guts started coming out. I've always used anti sieze on the pipe. It looks like the inside collar on the muffler is missing compared to the other one. Has anyone else have this happen. I'm taking it to the bike shop in the to see what they say. It should be warranty as it's an 08.

I changed the antifreeze in my bike. I noticed the bolt in the center of of the painted black piece in between the side covers was missing. It is bolt number 14 on pages SIDE COVER - D11 & D12 of the schematics in the Tech library. If anyone has one lying around I would appreciate your help. I suppose the bolt has been missing since new, or mechanic may have left this bolt out when they changed the clutch basket or new head casket. The bolt really has no affect other than it would stiffen the center mount up some for the side covers. I am funny about stuff like this, the bolt should be there even so. Thanks, Fuzzy ........

Well I have spent most of the night working on the old bike. I have repaired wires that have been mouse chewed, lubed the speedo cable, flushed the coolant system, have the radiator ready for the shop to pressure test it and make any repairs it may need, have searched for any signs of leaks, pulled the tci out and cleaned it have it ready to reinstall above the battery/air-box. All the connectors have been separated and cleaned then greased with dialectic grease and reassembled. I do not know if I am missing anything or not, actually sure I am, but this was superposed to be a quick fix bike. Like that ever happens. If anyone can think of other common areas that I need to check out before I reassemble thoughts and ideas would be welcome. I will also say that the $12 I spend for this sight has been the best money spent to date. Thank You, Shaun

This thread might get moved and if so I apologize in advance. I bought my 2004 Midnight RSV in November of 2010. I have done considerable work to it just to get it where I want it to be. However that being said, the small, black push to talk button that is on the passengers intercom control is missing. I have no idea where to look to get a replacement. The PTT still works, it's just the button that is missing. If anyone knows where I can get one, has a part number or even may have a spare one sitting unbeknownst in a junk draw or jar hanging in there garage somewhere I would pay you for it along with the shipping. Thank you in advance Chris in Red Deer, Alberta

I came across this on a UK website and with a bit of lateral thinking could this be the missing link to a 3rd Generation RSV??????? http://www.visordown.com/motorcycle-news-new-bikes/return-of-the-trx/17434.html Old Miner.

OK...after a brief scare with my windshield (my wife threw it away and took it to the dumpster, but was able to recover it)...I decided to go ahead and do some things to to the bike today. I have several questions!! First thing was removing the fairing, I did notice that both tabs were broken and I know this has been discussed a lot, but if left broken, do they really pose any danger...or should I DEFINITELY have the fairing replaced? When removing the fairing, I also noticed that one of the grommets was missing helps stabilize and rattle proof the fairing...is that a standard size grommet or is there a special part number? Replacing the lamp with the Silverstar IS A PAIN...even with the fairing split!! Also the BIG rubber cover has threads in it...but it doesn't screw on does it. Also, even with the fairing split, I had a hard time getting my hand up through there...removing the adjustment knob did help. Maybe I am missing something, but any further tips would be greatly appreciate. Is there a better tape to use besides electrical tape that is not as effected by HEAT and COLD...the adhesive doesn't seem to keep the connections tight. I also was trying to track down why my running lamps no longer worked...when they installed them they used the OLD fashioned glass 10A fuse. I am going to replace that with chip kind, is that what most of you have done? And finally, I installed the F4 Customs Windshield. WOW...very nice. VERY clear too. Sitting behind it is almost like sitting on the bike without a shield at all...it's that clear. I am very pleased. So, I'm looking forward to some answers, thoughts, suggestions and tips. Wally

I have tried 3 times to list my 1200 xlch custom Sportster in the Other Complete Bikes category, and have failed to get it loaded each time. I have very carefully followed the instructions, but obviously I am missing something important. Is there a trick to this? It all seems so straight forward. (I had no trouble with Craig's list for the same bike.)

Does anyone have a picture of the front lower, and side panels? I am specifically looking for how the panels attach to each other, not necessarily to the frame. I think I may be missing a piece or two. Thanks Kevin

I am in the process of replacing both fork seals and installing progressive front springs, the info in the tech library has been very helpful, but i have a couple questions about what i found when i took my forks apart. In the first picture, I did not have any of the 3 washers on the lower end of either side, was this different on the 83-85 or am i missing parts? In the second picture, I did not have the part labled 2, again is this different on the 83-85 or am i missing something? http://www.imagechicken.com/uploads/1280331115001454800.jpg http://www.imagechicken.com/uploads/1280331227066186800.jpg

I saw something the other day that I don't think I have ever seen before. I met an older guy on a big cruiser that only had one arm. Didn't notice it when he pulled up to the stop sign, but when he turned in front of me, I could see that his left arm is missing. Just had to think about how hard it would be to ride a bike with only one arm. I was both impressed by his moxie but concerned at the same time. I knew a guy a long time ago that rode with an artificial leg, but that would seem relatively easy compared to missing an arm. Have any of you met or known someone who rides a bike without both arms and legs? I'm just wondering how common that actually is.

Got wet now missing, help
jkmorey posted a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I recently washed my 84 XVZ 1200 (just shy of 40K miles and prodominantly all original equipment) giving it a good soaking. Ever since the wash, the bike has been missing. I'm no electrical genius but I suspect I got something wet that either should not have or I have something shorting out. I thought if I got the bike good and hot she'd dry off but that has not happened. Still missing and as a result, hard to start. Prior to getting wet, she fired up immediately. Any suggestions? Please help. Thanks John-Michigan:crying: -
The previous owner removed the cowling/vents that are in front of the driver's legs.. he said they are something to heat up the user's legs. They were included with the purchase, just not attached, the bike is also missing the front lower air dam. I have never driven another 1st gen other than this one I got off ebay less than 1 month ago.. No owner's manual either. What is the purpose of these vents.. I'm wondering if these are used to cool off your legs? I could get an air dam off ebay,... they're a bit pricey , but there are a few on there.... just not sure if I'm missing something I don't have or better off without it. I live in South Bama temps are peaking at 90+ now, the heat off this beast is a bit much on the legs right now, but maybe I'm just a light-weight.

I got to wondering why so many techs were having trouble diagnosing radio/audio related problems on RSV's. So I was looking through the service manual wiring diagrams thinking things should be pretty straight forward. What I discovered is a lot of missing information. Neither of the headset connections or the rear remote are shown on the diagram. None of the interconnect wiring for the CB or anything else is shown. Only some of the wires and connectors from the MCU are shown. No antenna connections are shown. None of the repair messages the radio presents were shown in the troubleshooter. No wonder this is such a 'guess how' fix area on these bikes. If anyone has a complete wiring diagram for the audio system on the RS Venture how about posting it. Mike

On the way home from work last night my bike developed a terrible wobble. After giving the bike the once over, I discovered the right side trunk mount bolts were missing. Who would have thought that could cause the wobble in the steering. Replaced the bolts and back to normal.

I have an 83 VR and tonight I thought I would check the coolant level in the radiator. I can only get the cap undone about 1/3 of a turn. I tried pressing down while turning counter clockwise, but it just won't come off. Am I missing something?

I recently bought a 1983 venture and when I test drove it it was pretty snowy so I never had a good chance to run through all of the gears. Later on I found that It wouldn't shift into 4th or 5th gear. It's like they just aren't there. It's my first bike so I am pretty new to this. I'm hoping to have it up and running for spring time. Anyone ever have this problem? I appreciate any help Trent
