Put in an order for the progressive fork springs...there on the way...one of the boys here at work mentioned the use of Dextron VI (transmission fluid) in lieu of 10wt fork oil. I took a peek on my greatest reference tool (this site) and found little info on the subject. It would appear that some folks have done it but I'm just wondering what the ramifications, if any, there are or would be. Plse chime in......

have heard the more air for breather help with engine performance? drill hole in breather? go to K&N (costly) appreciate any info thanx doc

Here's a bit of an update for those who might remember me. Last year about this time I ruptured a bicep tendon in my left arm at work. Due to surgery and recovery, there was no riding allowed for me. This year I am having trouble with my right shoulder. My family doctor says it was probably caused by compensating for the other arm...the worker's comp people don't see it that way. So, the constant pain in my shoulder coupled with my very patient girlfriend becoming less patient about me being in NY while she is in SC, forces me to make the very difficult decision to sell the Venture. I need to gather info and photos for the classifieds section, but I figured I'd o a quick overview here, mostly to garner sympathy, but also to kind of ease into the process and see who might be interested. This is really killing me, but here goes. 1989 Yamaha Venture Royale, 2 tone blue. not sure of exact mileage, but I will get that info. I put around 6000 trouble free miles on it over the two years I was able to ride it. The left side fairing was banged up by the previous owner and it was missing a side cover when I got it. I have collected most of the replacement pieces, but I have not had the time or money to paint and install them. There are also some Yama-line pieces that i bought as NOS a couple of years ago, I think I have a few more still in the packaging. Whatever I do have will go with the bike. I have no desire to part this out . I promise to have more details properly placed in the classified section in a day or two.

I've read a lot on just about everything here. Have received a ton of info and appreciated it all. Made a lot of upgrade decisions and changes from all the info here. All has been great. Put on some Baron Risers over the past couple of weeks along with some other upgrades which I'll write about later. My question is, I have no problem with my cable lengths and the risers but, the risers hit the black plastic switch cover prior to the stops. Does anyone else have this issue and if so, what if anything have you done to correct it. Thanks

Venture Riders, I'm new to the site and am having a good time learning. I have a 2002 VMAX and would like to compliment him with a Venture. I am interested in the 86-93 models. Is that considered 1st generartion or 2nd? Also, I was wondering what where some of the differences in those model years, mostly function and option differences. I believe there is no reverse gear in those years, is that correct? Also I'd be interested in member's opinions regarding the pros and cons of the Ventrue for those years. Any info would be great even if you might think it is trival. I'm trying to educate myself for a spring purchase. Thanks! Bill Hampton, IL

I am looking at a Yamaha Head set on e-bay. Package shows it is a Yamaha Product. The seller says it is a 6 pin din connector. I have a 2006 RSV and the info I have says my connecting receptical is a 5 pin. Anyone know if this will item will work on my bike? Thanks in advance for any info

Dan i have my local dealer ask me about your mod and says he has a lot of vmax owners asking about starter clutch upgrades. would it be ok to give him your contact info for these vmax owners. i didn't want to give the info until i asked you about it. And i will pm you when i get my flywheel off. -
Just ordered another Dunlop whitewall for the rear and I'm going to be brave enough to change it out myself (with the help of you guys). I have looked in the Tech talk but maybe there is something somewhere that gives me more info. I notice you also say to grease the splines, etc so I'm adding that to the list. Looking for feedback..........thanks fellows.

Kent, How do you do the blue/green light set up over the engine on QuickSilver? Is there a kit for that? Not sure if you ever did a write up about them or not. I think that looks very cool on your bike. Thanks for any info. Jeff

Guy's, My brother,(smoothcruiser), who just joined and bought an 83, is in the process of getting her on the road. He asked me to see if anyone has a cb antennae for sale or otherwise. pickup coil info / help

Ive tried to find info on replacing my pickup coils, maybe im not looking in the right places. it seems pretty straight forward, but thought if anyone had tips or hints it would be a help. Also reasons for replacement. The problem i am trying to fix is bizzare and my MC mech has suggested the coils. The bike ran fine till it really warmed up, then it started to lag and surge at cruising speeds, kind of like someone was lightly pressing the brake on and off. the bike will hesitate when i roll on the throttle and then jump to life. we put it on a dyno, and the timing on the #2 cylinder is all over the place and the #4 jumps around a little. I have replaced the boost sensor with a tested OK one and swapped the tci with no change in performance. The problem seems to be getting steadily worse.....any thoughts? -
The New V-4 VFR1200F Sound like a 1st Gen?? Looks a lot like one too. Got to be some way to stick some bags on it!!! I'll bet "Ugly" can't stay close to it. But not to much info on it yet. Could be very interesting!!

I posted the question on the ages of those who ride who are on this site. The youngest was 24 and the oldest was 77, but I lost the record of the guy who was 77. THEN I reposted most of this on Second Gens that have trouble reading the license plates of 1st gens when they wish they could pass them .... ahem .... and NEMO cam on and said he was 77, as did ChaHarley, ... who said he was 16 years young! So ... these two are in the lead as the youngest and oldest for a few more days. THEN I will summarize and post the results. If any of you know of him, or you are the courageous one, ... post here. THEN I'll summarize by 10 youngest and 10 oldest, and groups of 10's inbetween and some of info on wifes/riders on the Queen Seat. Thanks for all your comments and help. So I need some info on changing the speakers on my 03 RSV I was looking at the Plok Audio db401 any info on the speaker and install please post. How much better will they sound than stock and are any better? Thanks

I'm working on a project to resurrect an 1987 Virago for a friend. I was looking for some tech infomation about carbs and other things. Does anyone know of a Virago forum or a source for tech info on this bike?

I need some info from a real savvy computer person as my knowledge of the inner working of a PC are rather limited. Heres the situation: my original hard drive © was almost out of space. Its from a 2000 Dell PC with 1 G of ram (2 512 sticks), 4500 model I think with an 18.62 gb hard drive. A while ago my son-in-law installed a 233gb hard drive (E) in series with C drive, however I was never able to move stuff back and forth. I tried moving a large music library over from C to E but ended up losing the whole file. What I would like to do if its possible is to transfer my whole C drive contents over to the E drive, then remove the C drive and install the E drive back into the C connection, eliminating having two hard drives completely. Local PC store wants over 100 bucks to do this. Any suggestions? My music file has over 2000 songs so using a zip drive may not work. Keep it at the 5th grade level and ill be fine...LOL:think:

hey guys, I'm having a problem of something running the batt. down over a period of 2-3 days if I don't start the bike or put in on a batt. maintainer. I have run it down to one of the blade type fuses in the fuse box that is located to the right front of the batt. location. It is a 15 amp fuse, but I can't find any info as to what circuit that fuse controls. It never blows the fuse, just runs the batt. down. If anyone knows what circuit that fuse controls, I could sure use the info. Thanks in advance. Don H .

Thinking about getting a Zumo 550 for 3 reasons...weather, road construction, mp3+xm. Ride mostly in ND, SD, WY, MT where alternate routes are few & far between, so knowing what's in front of me is a good idea! Have a few questions though: 1) With NavTraffic it shows road construction but it says it only has 80 markets...and none up north. Am I correct that I won't get road constr info for up here, or can I get road const but just not the up to the minute traffic reports, etc? 2) With WX Weather subscription, can I display weather on the screen simultaneously with xm/mp3 playing? 3) If I disconnect the 550 from the bike, it has a lithium battery to power it. If I take it over & crash in the lawn chair with a beer...can I use it without having the antenna on the bike connected? I'm guessing I'll be able to see the last downloaded info but won't get current updates. Thanks for the help...JR
