  1. This looks interesting. Would have to change the connector but .... Has 34 Leds in it http://www.iowa80.com/DirectionsWEB/webcart_productDisplay.php?itemid=203560&itemdesc=7%22+Headlight+with+LEDs http://www.iowa80.com/DirectionsWEB/client/images/l177330.jpg http://www.iowa80.com/DirectionsWEB/client/images/l177329.jpg
  2. I'm about to install Yamaha driving lights on my 2008 RSV. I've read all the post I can find about how to wire them using a relay until my eyes are tired. This is how I want to be able to use them. I want the ability to turn them on and off manually using a switch, not having them come on with either the hi-beam or lo-beam. I saw somewhere, and now I can't find it, a diagram of the color coded wires coming from the headlight. always on, hi-beam, lo-beam. Any help would be appreciated. I'm new to this so please be patient with me. Thanks.
  3. I have this little black box hooked into my headlight wires. It is an obvious aftermarket, or add on. It simple is a 2 wire little black something with no name on it, the two wires go from this llittle box to the ground and I think high beam power wire at the headlight. It has scotch lock style fasteners so I know it is not factory. Just cannot imagine how something that has nothing but 2 wires coming out of it "tagged onto" the headlight wires does anything, but I know its not put there for looks LOL Again the headlight wires are NOT cut and this thing put in as something the power is running through, it is simply tagged into the wires by use of scotchlocks which I do not like.
  4. I have on order, soon to arrive, a set of HID driving lights from Martin Fabrication. Combined with the (newly replaced) HID headlight from Canadian Custom Cruisers, this should create a light path that will sear the retinas out of Bambi!! Will likely need to turn off my standard driving lights when these beasts fire up, but that's OK. The standard driving lights would just be illuminated bug catchers compared to the (claimed) light output of the HIDs. May need to install the stator upgrade next winter. Martin Fab also has a really cool waterproof switch for turning on these lights. I bought two switches so I can turn on/off the HID headlight also. If the HID headlight is on when you start the bike, it often goes off and doesn't come back on. Will post pics once they are installed. I'm sooooo ready for spring. http://www.martinfabrication.com/Martin_Fabrication/Motorcycle_Driving_LIghts.html Not the most user friendly website, but the owner seems to be a good guy. RR
  5. Figured there was no sense joining yet another forum. All the smart folks are here. Got a 2003 Honda Recon atv. One of the headlight is very dim. Is it most likely just need a new bulb or is that light not getting enough voltage. No, I have not yet swapped bulbs to check, so maybe I should not even be posting this yet.
  6. :Im not listening toI am somewhat embarrassed to ask this question but I have all you members out there that could help me with this problem. I bought the Yamaha Light covers for the running lights and the headlight. I installed the running lights with no problem. I took the bolt off of the headlight thinking that the chrome ring would come off but its refusing to come off the cowling. My question is, do I have to remove the complete front cowling to get the chrome cover off so as I can lock the visor in place?? I have a maintenance manual and it does not cover anything about removing the front chrome covering on the headlight. My owners manual also does not cover this area. Thanks in advance. Dan
  7. I'm taking down the fairing on my 1st gen. MkI to do some much needed electrical work. I got stuck at the headlight adjuster knob. I can't see any type of set screw or anything holding it on. I tried prying up from underneath, but didn't want to try too hard. Anyone with a word of wisdom?
  8. I'm trying to take out my headlight bulb to replace it but I can't figure how to reach it. I've read the manual, read some of the posts and am still confused. Do you reach it from the front side or the back side? The front headlight assembly has one screw at the bottom. If you remove this does it allow you to slide out the headlight assembly and access to the bulb or do you try to reach in from the back amidst the maize of wires and try to access it from there? Thank you for your help in advance. Chris
  9. Hi, I changed out the stock bulb with a PIA Extreme White headlight bulb. It is considerably brighter than the stock bulb. Anyone else ever use a PIA bulb in their headlight? I'd be curious to know how you liked it or the difference in other bulbs some people have used. Thank you in advance.
  10. Can someone direct me to a 'How To' guide on the removal/installation of a speedo cable? I've removed the windshield and headlight assy. and can touch the connection point with one finger but can't for the life of me figure out how to route the cable and then attach it. Do I need to do more dis-assembly? On a related topic, I noticed that all the rubber holders for the relays behind the headlight have dry rotted and broken. Anyone have a suggestion for making repairs. Might not hurt anything the way they are, but I sure don't want 'em bangin' around in there...
  11. Good afternoon everyone, Both hi and low beam on my 08 RSV went out last week. I have been reading the threads on this problem and have done the starter switch lube and fuse checking. I have read there might be a possibility of the Reserve Light Unit going bad but how often is this a problem? I'm not sure as to what direction to take at this point. Its difficult to get to the headlight lamp but is it possible for both hi and low to go bad in one lamp? Any suggestions would be helpful. By the way, everything else is working fine, it's just the headlight. Thanks Frank
  12. Well, I just bought a 1987 Venture Royale with only 59,000 km (about 36,875 miles) on it. Seems the guy I bought it from put 40,000 of those km's on it over the past 6 years so he took care of all the "rotting while it sat unused problems" (I hope). He had the valves adjusted and the carbs cleaned and balanced 10,000 km ago and just put new tires (Metzelers) and brakes on it. Now to my problem...a rock knocked a small hole in the headlight cover 4 years ago and the owner put clear silicone seal on it right away. It seems to have kept out water, etc. but I would still like to replace it. There are a number of them for sale on ebay. Most are '83's to '84's but there are also two '86's. I know there were a number of changes made in '86 and I was wondering which other year of cover might fit besides the '87. Any help would be appreciated.
  13. Can someone tell me how to adjust the headlight on my 1999 RSV? I know how to adjust it up and down, But need info on side to side. As of right now the head light is aimed more to the far left than normal. Also do I need to split the fairing to do this?
  14. Got my LED Driving Lights in today from www.greenboatstuff.com and I can say they are bright. Now I guess I will have to go to the LED headlight though because now my headlight looks dim. http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n315/rlyons_photos/Venture/DSC00328Large.jpg http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n315/rlyons_photos/Venture/DSC00327Large.jpg

  17. Curious about headlight modulators. Can somebody explain these to me? Do they work on high or low or both beams? Will they work with HID headlight? Do they work all the time or just when I turn them on? What does law enforcement say about their use? Frank

    headlight

First, I am an idiot when it comes to mechanical things or comfusers, er , computers. My headlight burnt out on my 02 and I am trying to figure out how to get the headlight out. When I take out the screw at the botom of the headlight ring I still can't get the ring off. What is the secret? Once I can get at the headlight it is no problem.
  19. I installed my new HID headlight setup from HID Country a few weeks ago. From the start I'm having a problem with the light not always lighting. I turn the key off, and turn the key back on and it's fine most the time. I got caught a few times with no headlight on during the day. Has any one else had this problem? I talked with Jason from HID Country, but he has not responded yet. Thanks for any help.
  20. Just sealed the deal on a brand new used 1988 Venture Royal, The previous owner had ha headlight problen and couldn't figgure it our....All other lights work as they should........Any ideas on what might be wrong.
  21. I'm attempting to remove and replace the headlight bulb without cracking the fairing (at the suggestion of the experts here!) Before I break something, I thought I would get a little help/explanation on removing the bulb from the experts. I've attached some photos showing the back of the bulb. Question is...how do I remove the bulb? There was some discussion on a "spring clip" that holds the bulb in place. Is the tab with "top" written on it the spring clip? Do I simply push it forward (up) away from the wiring receptacle? Can someone fill in the blanks for me? Any other hints/tips/tricks would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  22. Does anyone know if the 1st Gen MkII headlight glass can be separated from the plastic housing. There are clips on the side of it but doesn't want to come apart. Headlight out light on computer moniter is on but the light is on. The light burned out indicator the white light is always on. The light will not switch to bright but the high bulb is ok.
  23. Since BMW Motorrad presented the six-cylinder Concept 6 last fall, rumors have circulated about what model might receive such a potent engine. Today BMW announced that its compact in-line six motorcycle engine—claimed to offer 160 horsepower and 129 pound-feet of torque—will go into two new models: K 1600 GT and K 1600 GTL. The K 1600 GT is said to strike a balance between a sporty riding position and long-distance comfort, with a comfortable ergonomic triangle. Standard features will include xenon (HID) headlight, heated grips and seat, cruise control and on-board computer. The K 1600 GTL will be BMW’s flagship touring model. Rider and passenger will benefit from relaxed, upright seating. Standard features will include a top trunk with passenger backrest, xenon headlight, heated grips and seat, cruise control and on-board computer. Highlights of the K 1600 GT / K 1600 GTL: * In-line six-cylinder engine with peak output of 160 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and 129 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 rpm, with over 70% of maximum torque available from 1,500 rpm * E-Gas (ride-by-wire) * Three modes (Rain, Road, Dynamic) * BMW Motorrad Integral ABS * Dynamic Traction Control (optional) * Chassis with Duolever and Paralever suspension * Electronic Suspension Adjustment ESA II (optional) * Adaptive Headlight (optional) with standard xenon headlight and lighting rings for increased safety at night * Multi-Controller, TFT color screen and menu guidance * Audio system with preparation for navigation device and controllable interface for iPod, MP3, USB, Bluetooth and satellite radio K 1600 engine is the lightest and most compact in-line six in production, weighing just 226.2 lbs. and measuring 22 in. wide. 24. I've reviewed the headlight posts and can't seem to find a solution to my problem. I have an idea what it is. The headlight warning kicks on randomly, but the headlight remains lit. If I toggle the high beam/low beam, the light goes out for a little while. It was with just the high beam, and would go off when I switched to low beam. Now it will come on randomly on either low or high beam and will randomly go out (the warning, not the headlight). Flipping the headlight switch usually works temporarily. I'm wondering if it's an issue of Computer cold-soldering...or a bad headlight switch? Any ideas? Thanks.
  25. Several years ago I went to Walmart and picked up a couple of fog/running lights for about $16. I mounted them in the front vents which are useless to me with the lower fairings removed and I really like how well they work. They give a good pattern out to about 100 feet and also give good light down around my feet. Since I have them wired to the battery thru a fuse and switch, if for some reason I blew the main 40 amp fuse, which I did once, I still have lights and I think that is a great safety feature. I also upgraded my MKI headlight to a MKII light assemble and with a PIAA headlight bulb, I actually have pretty good lights for an 83 model. RandyA
