  1. We have a snow day today! It has been over 2 years since we had a snow day for almost all of our schools, public and private..... It started off wet and rainy yesterday with hail mixed in then it froze up last night real good. Lori got up @ 5:30 it was iced over outside.... she had a shower and came to wake me.... by then there was over an inch ..... now close to a foot deep... still falling and supposed to continue overnight tonight...... No riding now until the weekend at least now...... never thought I would use this smiley on my own thread.....:snow2::snow2: :crying: :crying:
  2. well the first of the year i was feeling good. then 2 days ago the gremlin got me. a slip and fall broke my right ankle. and twisted the knee. 6 weeks on crutches. for the ankle to heel. then something called gout settled in the big toe of the same foot. if any one has ever had this. i truly feel for you.. so here i sit. with a cast on the foot pain like the devil himself is useing a red hot poker on my foot. drugged out of my mind. all i can say is it has to get better.
  3. Hi. I have an 83 Venture with the stock passenger foot pegs.I want to install the upgraded foot rest.Is the bracket the same from years 83- 86? I see lots of foot rests on Ebay that are from 86- 89 years. Can anyone help? Thanks, Ray:think:
  4. Do they still have products for the 1st gen bikes? I couldn't see them listed on their website. I need to replace my lower foot deflectors. Does anyone have some for sale? I like to use them in the winter to keep my toes protected and warm. Iowa Guy
  5. This whats happens to it ,I guess I better stop scraping my foot pegs
  6. turns as far as dragging the foot boards? For what ever reason I'm much more comfortable leaning hard into a left turn than a right one. On my Tour Classic, with the exception of "The Dragon" I've never drug the right foot board, but occasionally, effortlessly, drag the left one. So far I've not been comfortable enough to drag either board on the RSV.
  7. Another thing I want to do for my winter project is replace my worn-out driver foot pegs. I know you can find used ones occasionally on ebay, etc., but I would rather buy new aftermarket pegs than replace them with another 20+ year old set. So the question, does anybody make aftermarket pegs the will fit our bikes? Mine is an '86 VR. Thanks!
  8. My Passenger stepped on the Left Foot Rest to get on the Bike yesterday and snapped one of the screws and bent the other. So, I have to drill out what's left of one and replace both. Is this something most dealers will stock or should I just go ahead and order online. If onliine, do any of you have an idea who to go thru? I've ordered from Dennis Kirk and others for accessories, but not for something this simple. I doubt they would carry such items. craigr
  9. Where does it plug in at??? Under the tank or somewheres else?? I ask because my brake light is stuck on, I disconnected the foot switch and it stayed on so it pretty much narrowed it down to the front.
  10. I currently ride a 2008 GW. http://www.stopngo.com shows a hose that supposedly connects to the GW compressor for the shocks that allows airing up a flat tire. Any one know anything about this? Where is the connection located? How difficult to make? Seems to me that it would be much nicer to carry one of the hoses rather than a mini-compressor. On the web site select motorcycle, then scroll a little past half way down to see the item. There is a six foot hose and a ten foot hose. Any idea if the six foot one gives plenty of reach for both tires? Thanks for any thoughts. Mel
  11. just an observation. Yesterday I took my sons '05' Black Cherry 1800 to get a rear tire installed. The first thing I noticed was the size of the mirrors, I LIKE them He has foot boards on his bike and that brings up the second point. You have to raise the foot board to get to the kickstand and then put it back down. On the other side is the brake paddle and EVER YTIME I raised my foot from a standstill to put it on the foot board I hit the brake. Then I had to bend my knee more than I'm used to just to place it on the board. Very uncomfortable ! The third item is a second positive ! I absolutely love the fuel injection response when I twist the throttle  Didn't like the seat at all
  12. Just made $10 donation....$5 for laying the bike over in sand....I detailed that one on the Watering hole shortly after I first joined the group. about 2 weeks later I tried to bleed the clutch but I guess I didn't do it well enough. It was fine at first...but after a few days the air must have moved and all of a sudden the clutch wouldn't completely disengage. I tried to limp home...I was way out in the middle of nowher and was going to putt thru a stop sign....BUT wouldn't you know it...at the last second a see a truck coming! There was no time to find neutral...so I just pulled in the clutch...put on the brakes. BUT....between the bike still pulling and the gravel under my left foot....over she goes! Really I just laid it over. CHA CHING! One good thing....at least I got to try out the method I learned here on picking the beast up! $5 more!....at this rate I'm not sure If I can afford this bike! LOL
  13. Hi everyone. Before I attempt to reinvent the wheel, perhaps someone on the forum has some info to help me. My daughter is 9 yrs old and yesterday I took her around our neighborhood on the bike, she loved it. In fact she loved it so much that she wants to take a longer country ride with me. I'm a little uncomfortable with her fit to the bike. Previously I installed some later model OEM rear foot pads for my wife. they sit about 4" lower than I'd like for my daughter to be comfortable. If I could find a few more of these used foot pads, I might be able to tig weld a nice machined block to them and be able to switch them out using the pin and clip to swap out for my wife or daughter. ( Of course other ideas welcome) Next, I'd love to be able to fabricate a few arm rests for her unless anyone knows of some available aftermarket options. Thanks, joe

Maybe its just me but in the past few weeks I have noticed 5 riders, 3 on wings and 2 on harleys with one thing in common: all were wearing flip-flop beach sandals while riding. Are they nuts? One hard stop where you have to put your foot down will rip that piece of rubber right off your foot with your foot possibly added in to that equation. I mean, c'mon...what are you thinking?? And these were not kids..older riders who should know better. Oh yea, the HD riders also had no helmets on. Sigh.........
  15. Well finally got bike running great today so rode over to a friends house to show him. So I pulled up to his garage where he and another friend was standing next to a 79 Moto Guzzi and as I stopped I slowly fell over on the left side. (Just like Arte Johnson on Laugh In). The loop on my tennis shoe laces caught on my shifter and I couldn't put my foot down. Didn't hurt me or the bike but we sure got a good laugh out of it. And I'm sure this won't be the last I hear of it. Will send in my donation tonight.
  16. A package is headed yer way.....arrival will be on Tues or Wed of next week (8-9 June). Boomer.....who sez don't drop it on yer foot or you'll be dancing like the drunken pygmies.
  17. Folks, I will be needing 1" Chrome Clamps to install Larry (Carbon-One) braces for Crash Bars stiffening. Then with the Crash Bars now stiff I would like to add Foot Pegs. The 1" Clamps are pretty standard equipment... Can anyone recommend Good Foot Pegs at JC Whitney? The reason for JC Whitney is Free Shipping over $75.00. Maybe all JC Whitney Foot Pegs are Crap??? Thanks for your trusted advice as always here at VR.Org.
  18. Cb in M/H. Sorry for my late reply. I used all my Wifi data card for last month. The site that has a foot after you cut off the end is www.motorwerk.com . I just tried it and the site worked. Go to Kaw., then the Versys. I purchased the bike two weeks ago and have already lowered the front and rear. I purchased BOTH stand kits ... the large one dosn't really fit the Venture but the smaller foot will. It works on hard surfaces but not too sure on gravel. Any questions plase ask....... Cb
  19. Yesterday I went for a 200 foot ride. I still have the cast on my leg. Would you believe my wife ask me to move the bike out of the shop so she could get the lawnmower out so she could cut grass!!! That took a lot of nerve to ask that off me. So I sat there ,drank my tea, and watched her cut the grass. Didn't cut all of it, so I asked her to get me another glass of tea. I would what went wrong? I sure have a great wife!!!! tew47:clap2:
  20. Where can I find a slection that I can install to make the end of the kick stand larger ? thanks for any help Cb
  21. This morning as I left Golden Coral I put my helment and gloves on got on the bike and left ( without letting the bike warm up) got to the exit and a car was turning in so I move close to the curb to make sure they had pleanty of room. I stopped and put my feet down turn the handle bars to the right, started to take off and the engine died. With the laws of physics as they are the bike started falling to the right. I put my foot down to step off the bike, but the curb caught my foot and the bike fell on my ankle and broke it in three places. Man do I feel like a dummy. Should have let the warm up before I tried to ride it. Now I'm paying the price. Spent 7 1/2 hours in emergency room. tew47:thumbdown:
  22. There is a black plastic piece on the outside where it tells you to hook a hose. Supposedly this puts the hose up in the bike somewhere so as to pull the air in. Did you all leave this on and hook the hose up? If so, how does it look? Also looks like you would hit this with your foot and knock it off. I have left it off for now.
  23. We left Phoenix this morning and pulled into San Diego this afternoon. Great trip across the desert on I-8. I've never seen such amazing landscape. Surprised to see snow at the 4000 foot elevation as we crossed the last mountain range. Weather here is beautiful today.
  24. I got my hair cut awhile ago, it was so long, that i could use it as a beard. Front and back, maybe half a foot to 10 inches in places I got it cut to 3/8th of an inch, free cut too:225:
  25. Anybody have any good athletes foot cures? I'm guessing that I'm not the only one here who gets sweaty feet in the boots we wear or go camping and shower in public showers. So I'm betting I'm not the only one with this problem. But I've had it all summer. I can almost get rid of it, but then it comes back. I've used the Compound foot powder all summer and Tinactin cream. I've gotten it before but was able to get rid of it with a good scrubbing in the shower or bath. But not this year.
