1. I would like to replace my driver and passenger foot pegs with floorboards. Are there aftermarket parts that you would recommend or are there used floorboards out there that were made for this bike? Thanks.
2. For a little while I have been entertaining the thought of getting a Gold Wing. Well, after sitting on one today my brief visit with insanity came and gone and I think I found some new love for my RSV. As big as the wings are I felt cramped on it and the leg position, or lack of it really brought me to my senses. Just sitting on it with my feet flat on the floorboards (this one had floorboards) caused my knees to scream in pain. So, after mounting my RSV I felt like I was slipping into a comfy recliner again. For the life of me I just dont see how you all who have wings can get comfortable on one. But thats just me...........
3. I purchased a set of floorboards for my 88VR from a member here quite some time ago and just never had the spare time to put them on. I am taking a road trip next week and decided today to make the time to get them on so I could find out if they were more comfortable than the pegs (been reading the pros and cons in other threads). Well I removed the pegs and started putting the floorboards on and came to realize I am missing 2 of the chrome spacers that go between the frame and the floorboards. I got 2 of them, don't know if I didn't get them and lost them or just didn't get them, makes no difference, I don't have them now and I need all 4 to install the boards. I mic'd the ones I do have and 1 is 22.30 MM and 1 is 17.75 MM thick. I'm not sure what all of the thiickness needed are but if anyone has these 2 spacers I am missing and would be willing to part with them please give me a shout. The spacers are 25.30 MM across and have a 10.5 MM hole in the center of them.. I am attaching a photo of a set of boards I got from yet another member that was helping me to understand how to install these. You'll note in this picture there are a total of 4 spacers. I didn't get any of the bolts with the boards either but those aren't a problem as I can get those locally at Lowes or Home Depot. Thanks in advance for everyones helpas always...This is a great site.
4. I posted in Watering Hole, but thought it should be here?? Does anyone have any passenger floorboards for the right side available?:icon_smile_question I need them to so I can attach them to either floorboard on the right side when I am riding--this will give me the extra kick-out I need for my stiff leg. But it also means they can be removed if Big AL is riding my bike, or so they can't be stolen!!!!! Happy to pay reasonable price and shipping
5. Okay, the adjustable floorboards for this gammy leg of mine aren't going to work (b***er) Soooooooooooo I came up with an idea,(OK I know, I know) and Big AL reckons it will work. I need TWO right-side Floorboards. We are going to attach one to the rider, and one to the passenger floorboards to extend them (longer) for me. But they will be detatchable, so as not to be stolen, or be in Big AL's way if he is riding(or pillion) QUESTION: Anyone got any lying around in their workshop?? (that's Two RIGHT-SIDE floorboards):confused::confused:
6. Today I was on my way to my mother-in-laws, she was having a birthday party for my youngest daughter just turned 16. I was getting off the cloverleaf exit in tifton ga. Its a real hairpin turn, that I really love to lean through, you know scrub the floorboards, well today I came off the interstate around 50 MPH, and found a surprize in the middle of this exit, OIL a nice large patch. Well with the floorboards all but scubbing, there was no way to miss it, the brickstone on the frount just went to sliding, the kumho on the back did not slide at all, it held all the way through the patch. Now I have been ridding since age 13, 37 years, I don't remember ever having this situation before. I have slid the rear around but not the frount. The only thing I could think to do was to stand the bike up, it came up and I almost went across the ditch into the access road. I kept it up but don't know how. I did not touch the brakes at all, pretty sure that would have put me down. had to change underwear afterward. will slow down there from now on. Gregg
7. In looking at the Kuryakyn website, I got to wondering about their #7916 "Metric" floorboards. Has anyone tried adapting these for use as passenger floorboards on a 1st gen?
8. OK, my wife isn't too fond of the passenger pegs on my 84 VR and she'd like to have some passenger floorboards instead. Trouble is, there isn't a whole lot of them on Ebay at the moment. Is there another source for these other than Ebay?
9. I purchased a set of floorboards with the heel toe shifter and brake pedal for my 88 VR and they arrived today. Now I am in a quandry as to how to install them. I am sure that all of the parts are here but I don't have a clue as to where to start. Does anyone have these floorboards installed on their bike and would be willing to sned me pictures of the finished install so I can get them on? Any help I could get would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Marvin BTW these came off of an 89 VR and I purchased them from a member here on this site.....got a sweet deal
10. Hi All, Well I've had my '86 venture (land yacht) for about 2 weeks now and am loving every minute of it. Question I have is I've seen pictures of ventures with rider floorboards vice the standard pegs yet I've looked online and can't find them to purchase anywhere. Anyone have any ideas? It's just not fair that the wife gets floorboards and I don't.
11. Anybody know where i can find a conversion to go from floorboards to pegs on a 96 Royal Star. I would like to have foward controls but i don't want to shell out the dough. Unless anybody can tell me were i can get a set for cheappppp!! But pegs will be fine for now just need to find the conversion????
12. I need to find out if I can get replacement rubber strips for my floorboards on my 99 Royal Star Venture. Pictures below: http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f357/scottnsteph/20090316_0341.jpghttp://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f357/scottnsteph/20090316_0343.jpg
13. Had battery covers and floorboards chromed. They turned out nice. Do have one BIG problem though. When I sent in the boards, I didn't realize where the pivot ball attaches that on the board itself there is a spring inside. On one board it stayed in, on the other it's gone. I have no idea where to find another or what the part number would be. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. I'll show installed pics once I can get the springs. God Bless. Mike P.S. The pictures with the holes shows the space where the pin goes and the space where the spring is supposed to go.
14. I removed the floorboards from my 1985 VR and installed the standard footpegs. I will offer them here before ebay/craigslist; asking $250 . . . will consider trade for black seat in good condition will consider trade for good Vmax cams Also have rear bumper and trailer hitch for sale or trade. Please see this thread for more info; http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=295117#post295117 http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o318/GaryZ_photos/pix037b.jpg
15. My wife, er I mean Santa, brought me a set of chrome passenger floorboards. They sure do shine. Makes those stock boards look rather ugly. Here's a couple of photos. Dennis
16. does anyone have any gently used chrome rear floorboards taking up space in there garage they would like to part with? i dont want to pay the dealer price for them yet. oh yeah for the 2nd Gen rsv ( i think the blue and black is faster than the faded blue) hehehehehehe
17. did ventures ever have foot pegs ?,if so can an 08 be converted over to pegs ?,yeah I've heard it all, floorboards are he best thing since sliced bread, but I dont like them and want to use pegs:stickpoke:
18. Found a nice set of floorboards and shifter for a 99 Royal star....how tough would it be to adapt them to my 88 Venture? I'm pretty good at adapting and fabricating things like that, but with the shifter and brake assemblies, it seems like it'd be a tough job. Anyone out there with enough knowledge of both bikes to offer an opinion? Thanks:banana:
19. My 86 VR is the Urishi Black/Marshall Gold color tone. Not bragging; however, in my humble opinion, the bike's design and color looks better than most bike's out there. Just wished the plastic would hold up as well as the metal. Anyway, I am thinking about painting the "YAMAHA" side of the passenger floorboards. In my mind I have visualized, black paint for the inner textured part of the floorboard and gold for the letters YAMAHA to match the "Venture" wording on the bike. The all around outer 1" untextured part of the floorboard I have polished to a mirror finish. Any thoughts or better ideas about this. If some of you have done something similar, please let me know. I am open to any suggestions. Thanks, Allen Dallas, Texas
20. We have 2 first gen ventures in garage, and am wanting to swap some parts from 87 to 84.....87 has drive line problem and 84 is going strong, although no second gear. Yamaha site parts listing show part number for frame of '84 to be 41R-21110-00-33 '87 to be 1NL-21110-00-33 question is....will passenger floorboards from 87 fit 84......and will 87 trunk and saddlebags fit 84,,,,,,or will I just hafta start swapping to see what don't fit????
21. Do to my wife being so tall, hahaha. I find myself in need of a set of adjustable passenger floorboards the ones that go on the crash bars of a mark II. Does anybody have a set in any condition they'd be willing to part with? If not can I borrow a set to have them reversed engineered? Jeff
22. My six year old son is wanting to ride with me on the 2000 RSV and his legs are not long enough for his feet to reach the floorboards yet. Does anyone know of a bracket to make the floorboards raise up to the saddlebag lids?
23. Is there any way to move, extend or modify the passenger floorboards? I'm fine riding solo but when my wife is on and we come to a stop i'm getting whacked in the back of my calves with her boots. She's tried sitting pigeon toed and the foot boards still make contact. Any sugestions other than riding solo?
24. Now that I have your attention:whistling:................ I didn't really get a new bike:whistling:, but I put the smaller size Avon tire on the front and it feels like a new bike:clap2:. Many thanks to member BREAKING PARTS for meeting me on a Sunday morning and mounting my new tire for me. Today is the 1st time that I have had a chance to play with the new tire in a parking lot (lots of rain here in VA the last couple of days) and all I can say is WOW, what a difference this tire makes. I didn't have long to play, but I was almost scraping floorboards in figure 8's and u-turns. With a little practice, I should be scraping floorboards soon. I was thinking of lowering the front end of the bike, but no longer think that will be necessary. I have read all about this smaller tire and had high expectations for the improved handling and those expectations have been met and exceeded.
25. I have a 1st Gen. I'm a peg fan. But I would like to either lower my pegs or raise my seat so it is a little farther from my seat to my feet. Do floorboards lower your feet? Has anyone made the seat a little taller?
