    Help!

Went to start the bike after more than a month off and the right overflow tube at the air filter box is pouring out gas ! I guess there must be a stuck float or needle in the right bank. Took the tank off and glanced at how to reach it and see no easy way without actually pulling the carbs! Sure would like to avoid that..... Does any one have any easier ideas?
  4. My bike felt sluggish so when it was cold I started it and sure as heck the front right cylinder was cold so I took out the plug, which is almost new and I use only iridium plugs, and checked for spark and had it. I am wondering if there is an easy way to clean out that one carb and not pull the whole Assembly, I always use seafoam and marvel mystery oil so I do not understand why the carb is plugged. Tom
  5. I have the engine out of my 83 VR now and the water outlets on the cylinder head are very rusted and look like they will give me problems in the near future. I want to replace them while they are easy to get to. They are not listed as a part on any Yamaha parts list. Has anyone replaced theirs and where did you get them?
  6. Well I had a great ride to here. Picked my wife up at the airport then later went out to pick up some things at walmart. Came back out and it was taken off my seat. Yup an easy mark I never locked it up. I'll be shopping tomorrow after checking out some pawn shops. Themselves the breaks. At least I didn't lose the bike
  7. I guess I missed the announcement that Jeff was back as I was out of town without a puter. Glad you made it back ok, looking forward to seeing you again soon...........Charlene says hi, and go easy on Mini.........she may be a little weirded out with you back home for good!!!!!
  8. I finally got my new to me trailer "thanks roadkill" wired up tonite and i'll say it was real easy. However when i started reading howto's by other members i thought it would be difficult. Some of ya made it way to complicated and intimidating but after a while i said screw it and did it this way... bought a "CALTERM" # 08079 tailight converter 5 wire to 4 wire spliced them in under the seat by the battery and wala i got lights. the beauty of the calterm is the converter is in the plug in where the the trailer plug goes so you don't need to get all fancy with splices and sh%& like that. so easy a caveman could do it....... "me" oh ya only $13.99 !!!!

  10. We are looking at buying a '96 model Time Out trailer. It does not have the A/C opening, but otherwise appears to be the full sized model, not the Easy Camper. Does anyone have any knowledge / recommendations / warnings around these models? Thanks! Don
  11. needed cb antenna black part up, well got one from someone here, what I need is help unsrcewing the black part up, able to unsrcew top part but bottom won;t turn but a little bit. black part is just plastic, very thin, easy to break, I think thats what happened to cause me to lose it. spray wd 40 down tube it to loosen it up??? any ideas out there
  12. Had to change to head light this afternoon. tryed the handle bar system. turned to right. un pluged, turned rubber cap 180 degrees, popped off, popped the clib, and the bulb felt out. Hell that was easy. go buy a new bulb. 2-1/2 hours later of screeeeaaaaming, and using words not known in my house. I finally got it back together. My hands are swollen, I have cuts all over the place. next time, the shop can do it.
  13. The brake and clutch fluid should be changed every two years. If you can detect ANY brown color at all in the sight glass on the master cylinders, then the fluid is very old and needs to be changed. Fresh fluid is virtually clear, and it turns brown as it absorbs water from the air. Changing it is easy. At Don's Maintenance day/Carnival, I will have my vacuum pump to make this job real easy. If you want to change your fluids, you will need at least TWO small bottles of DOT4 fluid (or one large 16 oz bottle). Goose
  14. I'm in the market for a new GPS. And I'm interested in the Nuvi 765T. My Question is. How is the Quality of the Build in MP3 and the Bluetooth...and is it easy to use these Features when you are riding. thanks
  15. Ok folks, I need some help.. I just got my set of passenger Highway pegs from Diamond R Accessories for the Misses.. I attemped to remove the rear Hex screw and ended up stripping the head, so I got out my "easy outs". Well the heads of the factory screws are pretty soft and the easy out just ate into it.. Ok now I'm getting a bit pissed off so I get a extractor bit and drilled a pilot hole and try it.. NO LUCK !! My question is, wha't my next course of attack ?? Thanks 06 RSTD
  16. Just installed the light bar with the passing lights on my RSTD. What a PIA. The directions wern't real good but now that I have done it, it would be easier the second time around. Feeding one of the wires up through the special bolt was easy but getting the second one with the bullet connector on it was imposible. I tried evey way imanginable and there was just no way. After 20 minutes with it I cut the connector off and put a new one on after I fed the wire up through. Also the directions are not clear on what connector goes where. It's kind of trial and error. Also the screws and hex head bolts are not easy to get at but I was able to get through it. I really looks nice now. I did get it done and will post a picture here later.
  17. I found a RED one (the fastest color)! What a cool bike. It handles soooo much better than my bar hopper Sabre. Now, I need guages. RPM, water temp, ambient temp, compass. I see someone on the forum buildes them..............We'll talk!!! Need a shorter smoked wind shield. I see they're for sale Also I think I want to ride without the trunk. It seems easy enuph to take off. Seems like a few bolts and the whole assembly comes off. If it is easy to get off and on then I'll only use it when on the road. (seems like over kill for around town). I will need a back rest to bolt into the same holes. Has this already been done??? Thanks for all of your help with my pre-purchase questions. Rich
  18. "Brown Sugar" has decided to start leaking pretty bad on valve covers. mostly rear one. I'm going to try snugging them down but that can cause them to get worse. I know they have a shoulder on these bolt so easy does it. Question is which 2nd gen gasket is the easy to install one? Any of them? Or certain year.
  19. gaskets for 1984 xvz12 and is there an easy way to change them thanks Gord

  23. I know we have all heard it but it can happen so easy. No damage done but had snow shovel and was making good imitation of snow plow. Snow flying everywhere . Next thing I know I'm sitting down and couldn't get up!! Took me a while to stagger in to house. Sitting tooo much since accidents. Just take it easy when you get out there. It is very easy to push it harder than you realize you are doing.
  24. Wanting to add some electropods LED lighting to my 07 venture and was wondering if anyone else has them on their bike and how easy is it to hook up. Thanks
  25. http://jimspages.com/States.htm Map of USA Puzzle.. THIS IS NEAT Wonder how a high school senior would do on this one? See how you do in placing the states of the United States Of America .. All you do is look at the top of the page and drag'n'drop the state to where it belongs. Smart map, varies the order of the states' placement with each new try! It isn't easy mostly because placing a state in the precise location when it as yet has no boundaries in place is a bit tricky! No half credit for close but over a tad.... 86% Score 20 mile average error 263 seconds time Gary
