First, let me introduce myself....I just purchased a 2009 RSV and have only had it a week. Enjoying it so far.... I've ordered a number of add-ons so I'll probably be looking here for help. I searched and couldn't find an exact explanation of how to remove the front fairing (without damaging anything!). I would assume I need to remove the bolt under the headlight, and the three hex bolts on each side, but I don't know what to do next? I just don't want to break plastic tabs or crack anything. How do I remove the chrome around the headlight and the chrome piece below the windshield? Any specific instructions would be so helpful. Thank you and look forward to meeting some of you! David

Well, I decided to wash the bike up today and get her ready for winter storage. This last summer I purchased a (gas) power washer (Ridged 3300) not just for the bike... been using it for lots of projects! Anyways , I decided to try something different today, I hooked the hose to a soft-water outlet, then washed the bike with a medium power spray nozzle. then what was the best is that I used a Electric Toro Leaf Blower (850} to blow the bike dry.. (worked perfect) no spotting on the chrome what so ever. dry time was about 10 Min's. The blower was able to get into those hard to get chrome area spots. Just thought I would share my fun washing expereance with you today! Jeff

Because our bikes have wierd footpeg mounts. has anyone found any aftermarket footpegs that can be disassembled and mounted in our existing footpeg mounts? Mine are getting ragged looking and I'd love some of those shiny chrome and O-ring looking ones that all the hardley rides get to dress their bikes with.

Hey folks. I'm looking for a good set of armrests for my '05 RSV. My wife and I spotted some of those chrome eagle armrests made by Diamond R Accessories in some of the photos posted on this site and she loves them. The only problem is I contacted the componay and he said he no longer made that armrest. So I'm hoping someone out there has a set of them they've taken off and would like to sell. If you do, PLEASE email me at roy.powell1@us.army.mil and let's work something out. Thanks

can anyone explain why you can't chrome the fins on a 2nd gen.......they tell me that the chroming won't get all the way in and will have a yellow tint on the inside.......i was told that's why you don't see any aftermarket chrome fins...

Mounted a Stebel Nautilus today, the"chrome" one. I got to get it off my chest.....Everytime I purchase something made in Europe I feel cheated! Their concept of quality is sub-chinese!! How can yu call this thing chrome? It's made of cheap pot-metal sike aluminum and plastic. All the so called chrome is plastic. The greyish body of this thing isn't even fully covered with it. The cover looks like a tincan from the top! Good thing they gave two of those plastic covers, I used the back one to cover the top so I wouldn't annoy my wife with grumbling and mumbling every time I look at this thing! The one that Harbor freight sells BTW is made by the same company under a differen name - you can also find it at Pep Boys. For some reason I expected this thing to look better. Well, at least it is loud although the tone is a bit high for my taste. When it quits on me - as all Euro-crap soon does I think I will replace it with a set of trumpet type horns. OK,I feel better now.....

Last week I saw a part that I now find that I really WANT. I saw it on one of the sites and thought I had saved it in my favorites but now I can't find it. The part is a toggle switch ( actually 3) that sit on top of the front brake MC. I saw it either on this site or the other venture site and I am hoping that someone will remember where it was and assist me in finding it. I ahve my new key switch ordered and we ( Gunboat et al) are doing a clutch slave rebuild in the next week, as well as adding a new clearview WS and some new grips to the 99 RSV. I con't sope my self now I just bid on a set of RK pipes that are on ebay and located right here is Houston. I can save the shipping on that at least. But I gotta have more chrome I need chrome, I want chrome. LOL I found out this past weekend that my 99RSV will do at least 118, but I chickened out at that speed as I was in an area with a lot of curves. Have a great weekend all and thanks for this great site. JB

Anyone know a good source for the screws that hold the reservoir covers? I ordered two chrome covers and I assumed they would come with chrome screws (ass u me). Actually, they didn't come with screws at all and the dark grey screws that come on the bike don't look good with the chrome reservoir covers. I am also looking to replace the screws that hold that piece of chrome above the gas cap with chrome ones.

how clean plastic wrap of chrome?
dharnie posted a topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I got a good deal on ebay for chrome passing lamp shields. It is new old-stock so the plastic wrap ended up stuck to the metal. I tried paint stripper, heat from hair dryer & soaking in laquer thinner to no avail. Anyone have a method that might work? -
Got bored this weekend and figured it was time to do a little cosmetic work to the old girl. I'm not a real big fan of chrome (I know, blasphemy!!!) so figured I'd carry the theme out even further.

I resently was given a set of Bub sleeper slip on mufflers that the chrome tips were pealing badly. Took them to a powder coater who stipped the rest of the chrome (Media blasted) then powder coated them w/ high temp (1000 Deg) black satin. While I had them apart I repacked the baffles w/ 4 stroke packing material. They soung great, not to loud but a nice growl.

Your new ride looks a little naked........not much safety chrome or fancy do-dads on it............If you need help, Im sure some of us can pick out some nice expensive safety chrome for that new bike...

I was just given a set of Bub Sleeper Mufflers that are in great shape except for the chrome end caps (Chrome peeling). I have taken them apart and removed the end caps. I have (2) questions. 1) Does anyone know a good way to remove the chrome ? It doesn't look like it was applied correctly in the first place. I am looking to have them powder coated w/ a high temperature black satin finish. I think it will look sharp on my 05 RSTD (Black/Gray). 2) The packing material inside was almost gone, what is the material used ? Can anyone help with this ? Will

Forcast for Skid Inn looking good. I'll probably ride in the back of the pack. I want to try out my glare filters in these transitions lenses. It should be a sunny weekend and all that slow moving harley look a like chrome in front of me. You know that waxed buffed and shiny second gen type. Come to think of it I bet Skid has been waxing that 86 for a month to.:stirthepot::rotf:

This should be an easy one. Does anyone know of a company selling just a plain (good quality) chrome water pump cover for my 05 Tour Deluxe? I was able to get a plain chromed timing hole cover from Baron's, but the only water pump covers he has are the "V Four" etched ones (to me, no better than the ones marked "Yamaha"). Let me know if there is a company you know of. Thanks.

I have a 2005 RSV with a show chrome windshiel. The windshield sees a little short. Does anyone know what the height and width of the factory windshield is? Also does the show chrome create more turbulance? You would think Yamaha would put on the one that resulted in a more aerodynamic ride. Just wondering!! Also anyone going to the Texas Star-B-Q? Thanks

I got a driver backrest from Chrome World International. The first one was so uncomfortable, and I had adjusted it all the way back as far as I could. I was still sitting up next to tank. So I checked the part # on e-net and found out that they had sent wrong part. Even though it did bolt on correctly,it was for older model. So about 4 weeks later they sent me another. I bolted it on and better but it to was still to close to tank. I drilled another set of mounting holes and tried it out on short ride this evening, finally comfortable and able to adjust. No more Chrome World International for me...... Fuzzy

Does anyone know if Yamaha made chrome rotor covers for the 1st gen VR's? I've seen a couple of bikes with them but the answer I always get when I ask the owner about them is that the bike had them when purchased. I am looking for a set so I can install a Ring of Fire. Any help from anyone?
