  1. Reading the drudge Report this morning and they had an article about the new $100 Franklin. Wonder how long it will take the bad guys to conterfit this one??
  2. Ice build up tore my gutter down along with some siding ,soffet and facia boards........on the way down it hit 2 of my air conditioners.... If thats not bad enough my sliding glass doors are leaking this morning and my toilet ball rod just snapped off..........HAPPY NEW YEAR.........:bawling:I hope this is not the way the rest of my year is going to be...on the other hand , Bongobob invited me over for LASAGNA..YA HOO!!!..maybe I take that BAD juju over to his house and leave it there.....50 degrees and rain this morning....I love living in BUFFALO...!!!!!!!!!!
  3. I wanted to get a louder horn for my RSV and didn't have the extra cash to swing for a Stebel. I had read a few comments on here that the Bad Boy's were quiet a bit louder than the stock horn, but not quiet as loud as the Stebel. I got my Bad Boy today and hooked it up. Got all excited and hit the button and no where near as loud as the stock horn. I'm very disappointed, I could have used that money on something else for the bike.
  4. So another year is drawing to a close. There have been some good times and bad times during 2010. I wish I could say that it was the best year ever but for many folks, it simply wasn't. We had some members with serious health issues, some that lost jobs, others that lost loved ones and still others that saw long lasting relationships come to an end. I've had my own share of problems but I need only to look around to realize that I don't have it so bad. I have so many things to be thankful for. I have a secure job, a roof over my head, plenty of food. I have a family that loves me and that includes a wife that is so lovely and sweet that I thank God for her every day of my life. I hope that she NEVER comes to realize how much better she could do than me. One more thing though, and I am so very serious about this. I am so thankful for the family that we have become here. Let's face it folks, some days are better than others. We all have a bad day from time to time but when those days come around, I can always come here....here to my extended family...and there will be something that makes me smile. It could be some good natured teasing, a stupid joke, an act of kindness that one of you has shown to another.....many things here bring a smile to my face on a daily basis. I wish each and every one of you a Very Merry Christmas. I thank you for the joy that you have brought to my life and I thank you so much for being a VentureRider member. If it weren't for each of you....who the heck would read this?
  5. My Tarus is acting up again. Don't want to warm up takes it forever for heater to get warm never gets hot. Driving down the road it will cool down at times til it is blowing cold air. Running at Interstate speeds it will stay barely warm. Thermostat junk?? Always just stuck on me when they went bad and cause thing to overheat. I guess this is better if it has to act up but a heater would be nice......
  6. True story: The weather here has been better than some places, but still too cold in the mornings to ride the hour + to work for me. The forecast for this morning was for 31 degrees with a high of 62. No kidding, I actually woke up at 3:00 AM thinking "I can do 31 degrees" then went back to sleep. At 6:00 when I got up I said "what was I thinking!" So cage to work again. Time passes, take a break at 2:30 and walk outside. 64 degrees, no wind, not a cloud in the sky. Go back inside and make some lame excuse to the boss, and out the door to home I go to get the bike. I can probably get in a good three hours road time. Kewel. All the way driving home I'm thinking "Which way this time?" West, naw nothing but city that way. South? nope, go that way a lot. East? possibly, go that way a lot too. North? been a while, roads not bad, north it is!!! Get a half mile from the house and the COUNTY HAS GOT THE ROAD CLOSED UNTIL AROUND 5:30PM. Only other way is on a BAD gravel road with a few sand pits thrown in for good measure. I don't usually use bad language, but sometimes you have to express your feelings or explode. Come on summer.
  7. I have a chance at a 1999 Venture with 12,000 miles at a good price. Do any of you know of any bad news of the 99's? Thanks.
  8. Think I'd rather have snow right now. We have a fire that's been burning for several days not far from us....and it was deliberately lit!!! We couldn't sleep last night as the smoke was really bad. Fire fighters working 12 hour shifts, and the wind is creating big problems for them. I'd like to get hold of the lousy buggers...I'd give them burn!!!
  9. My wife drives an 2006 Malibu 4cyl auto. It is making a humming noise in the front end. I have rotated the tires, no change. jacked up and checked for any free play in both sides, nothing that i could feel. While still in the air with car in drive the noise is there and only changes with the speed of the wheels or vehicle speed. Don't think it is related to engine or trans cause the sound does not change with the rpm only wheel speed. The sound is not a clunking sound that I would think a bad cv joint but like the sound of big mud tires on a truck! Could it be a hub assembly going bad and not have any noticeable looseness? Any thought or help would be appreciated.
  10. But yesterday after leaving the hospital and arriving at work I was confronted with some very bad news. A young truck mechanic I worked with went home early wed. Because he was feeling very ill. Thursday morning his young wife called in and informed our employer that doctors had to remove Nathan's left leg above the knee. The right arm and right leg were also effected, and a lot of tissue was removed, do to flesh eating disease. On top of that he almost died on the operating table. Nathan is one of those rare people who is always helpful and never has a bad thing to say about anyone. He has two very young preschool children and a wonderful wife. I truly would love to see the same shared prayers sent for this young man as was shown for my father and others in need of them.
  11. My son is turning 16 this weekend, so he is inheriting the 1999 Jeep Wrangler that I use for bad weather transportation. I am getting my wifes 2004 GMC Sierra for my bad weather vehicle and the wife got... Its a 2011 Camaro SS/RS SS2, manual 6 speed with sunroof and factory Hurst shifter. Not a bad little commuter.
  12. Hi All The other day we were cleaning the shed. I had pulled the bike out for more room. After a bit christy and I turned to see two bad kids trying to highjack the bike! Bonny and Clyde they are not. Who Let The Dogs Out Bull463
  13. May need to replace my muffler cans for my 1987 Venture. The previous owner knocked out the baffles. A little louder than normal but not too bad, however, will this affect the engine performance??
  14. Has anyone ever experienced a faulty key ignition causing "no spark" to one of the cylinders?? I thought I had a bad TCI but I tried another and I had the same problem. I fiddled with the key (sprayed a little WD-40 in the key slot) - worked it back and forth a couple of dozen times and suddenly got spark! The bike has kind of been driving me crazy with the lack of spark to that cylinder - then - suddenly spark again... Just wondering if the bad key ignition could cause that symptom or not - best to ask the Venture specialists here on the board. Thanks in advance
  15. I don't usually get on a public rant about things, but I am now, I'll try to keep it short. About 6 weeks ago I had work done to my car, installed a new fuel pump and sending unit. Got the car back and it was running great, went to fill it up as it was empty. Stopped at a VALERO station in Tomball Texas on 249 just north of FM 2920. I ended up getting a tankful of bad gas from that station. $400 bill later from the garage the car was running again. I submitted a form to get them to pay for the repair as it was nothing I did to cause it. Well they decided to not pay the repair, so now I am starting phase 2 of my campaign against them, and give as much bad publicity as I can. I have nothing to gain by trying to scam them, I paid out the money so it's money lost for me right now. I try very hard to play by the rules and become extremely irritated when others dont play by the same rules. There are quite a few folks that know me here and my character, I can let a lot of things slid, but this time, I am going to be the biggest PITA to VALERO until they make this right. Think twice before you use VALERO, needless to say I wont be supporting VALERO and will give as much negative talk about them as I can until they step up and do the right thing.
  16. I am looking at an 07 Venture with about 9K on it. They tell me this bike has a factory warrenty until next year I think. ANyways I was lloking thru the fourms here trying to see what kind of things that might need attenetion I have to look forward to. I read something about the clutch whining (should be a warrenty item). What are some of the other common item that just seem to go bad? Not that something with 9K on it should be bad. Heck its only like on its second oil change right?
  17. Just for my Harley riding friends, Its not really socially acceptable but it fits in well with this crew. They are all millworkers, and Im just their Foreman They treat me bad !! They shouldn't do that! It says Why Yes, It is a f---in Yamaha. I put it on the back of my vest because thats what they see most of the time
  18. Go to Youtube - type in 1986 venture carbs. It's the video by jamkitful 1986 VR carburation problem REDUX Ok. Here's a link to the video of the problem with my bike... Dont know if anyone can glean anything from it but ??? I did all the previous tasks that everyone mentioned - tightened the airbox down, made sure there are no leaks, etc. etc. Still the bike runs extremely bad (almost like three cylinders). It wont take throttle (barely). It runs a little better on choke than off choke but still bogs down and eventually dies. I'm starting to think the guy that cleaned the carbs just missed or messed something up?? Either that or maybe it just needs synchronized (though I doubt that would make it runs this bad)? If anyone has any further ideas I can check before I sdend this thing to the scrap heap - I would be appreciative. Thanks again.
  19. OK so I got the ventrue 1200 standard on the road, Legally now. I ended up putting a set of Dunlop 404s on it...everything else was OK for the safety check. Could someone tell me again what pressure I should be running on the front and rear (no class)...and in the tires. I'm about 210 lbs. Its got a bad backfire. Only when I gear down agressively or if I really rev it up and back off in a lower gear. It backfires almost every time about 4200 rpm. If I let the revs down gently, no backfire! but there is still some popping going on. There is a minor leak in the exhaust...just enough to give it a bit of a throaty sound...not bad at all (I don't like loud bikes unless it's a high performance rocket sled) I put a 1/2 can of Seafoam into it but it hasn't made any difference so far.I've only ridden about 1 1/2 hr since I put it in. I've tried to keep the revs up and did lots of hard accelleration to give it a good chance at cleaning everything out. So where do I look for causes?
  20. I learned why we wear off the left side of our tires , I have sold bikes because i think they have a bad frame . check out this link and tell us what you think ? http://www.rattlebars.com/tirewear/index.html
  21. Ok I have a situation with my charging system. Let me see if I can properly explain the problem. Recently I replaced the voltage regulator with one from electrosport. This is what my system is doing. while riding home from work at night I can see the head light, passing lights, and tail and running lights fade like they are only on battery, and then with in 3 seconds brighten back up to normal charging. it oscillates like this mainly at least as far as I can tell at higher speeds and in top gear. Does anyone think that this is just a bad regulator or my stator going bad? Please help! Jet man
  22. My 86 VR will start up normal. I'll let it warm up for a while then take off. The bike will run rough until its fully warmed up. Its running rough longer than I think it should under the guise of being "cold blooded".. Could this symptom possibly be a coil going bad?
  23. My tach is gone crazy runs like it's missing, removed TCI cleaned connections moving to top of air box. If I swap plug wire and connections to the left side coils will this let me know if the #2 coil is bad. Any one coming to Asheville have a good 83 TCI I could use to test. How do you get the cover off the TCI to get to the diodes to look for bad ones.
  24. I have a 04 Venture. I have had mic-mutes for three years now. Has been working great. Yesterday the wife and I went for a short ride. Right off the bat the communication was bad. A lot of noise and terrible clicking when we hit the talk buttons. One LOUD click when either button is pushed to talk and two LOUD clicks when you turn it off. It is really bad. Not fun at all. I have the driver and passenger seats off and have checked all connections. Any ideas?
  25. just wanted to ask for some prayers for him. today he was not doing to good? called his sister to take him to the E.R before they could get him in the room. he let lose all over the place. had a hard time breathing? checked him over and think he,s haveing real bad migraine?? while putting him in bed. they let go of him and boom down he went. now oldgoat is not a little man 250 pounds. so the damn nurse said she,s not lifting him with her bad back??
