  1. Does anyone know who will tune an antenna in the Columbus, Ohio area? Thanks
  2. I'm just venting here unless someone can give me some good advise! I have the Garmin 550 with the GXM-30 puck for my XM needs. Everything was fine until I took the bike to the car wash last Saturday. I never spray water directly on the unit but it does get wet. Now I get a message that says check your XM antenna and I get nothing. The weird thing is when I start the bike after a long downtime XM works. If I stop for gas and turn off the bike the XM antenna quits. If this keeps up, I'm getting on E-Bay for a replacement.
  3. Hey Guys, Does anyone have a reputable company they would suggest to get this GXM Antenna from, for under $200? Thanks, Rick
  4. A Radio Antenna and CB power box & wiring are on Ebay this week and listed under the heading of Yamaha Royal Star Venture. I know that some of you are interested.
  5. OK, so upon uncovering my bike at work today for the ride home, I raised the antenna up and tightened the collar nut..............or at least tried to. It's stripped out now. Can't figure out why, it's only 24 years old. Anyhow, I've heard (but have never tried) that a CB radio antenna in place of the OE AM/FM antenna works far better as an AM/FM antenna that the OE stick does. So, I'm going to set myself to install a CB antenna. BUT! I'd like to have the option of either being able to fold it down like I currently do or at least have some kind of a quick disconnect so I can lay it across the bike when I cover it up. Anyone know if such a mount exists?
  6. I just installed a new Firestik antenna and fold down bracket. I am in the garage and cannot get reception on either the radio or CB. I can hear static in the speakers. Is the problem that I am inside the garage?
  7. I get sporadic radio and CB usage that floats in and out. I also suspect that I'm not getting much range on my CB transmission and radio reception. I'm pretty sure it is the antenna cable/duplexer. does anyone have a good extra one for sale or trade.
  8. Does anyone have a good suggestion on where I can get a bracket to hold my antenna on my '83? I've added a the OEM radio to the standard bike. I have the OEM antenna, but no bracket. I don't really have any way to fabricate one, and from what I've been able to see at Flatout Motor Sport, they don't sell the OEM anymore. So any help would be great! Thanks~
  9. I am having trouble tightening my antenna to the base. The black plastic piece which houses the female portion of the antenna mount screws on to the base seemingly all the way and then won't tighten up. The male thread sticking up from the base into the antenna starts to spin. Is this normal and if not, is there any way to fix it? Looks like it's sealed. Thanks Kevin
  10. Thanks to this Forum for leading me to an E-bay sale of a C B Antenna. I bought the pair, so now will have the Radio Antenna for sale. Amen4AA, among others, asked if one would be for sale. I will ask $70 for it. You can E-mail me at owenjean1@msn.com. Owen.
  11. Help! I broke the CB antenna off. I wanted to just loosen the nuts and lower the antenna, so a bike cover would fit without cutting holes in it. The nuts were really tight, probalby corroded in place. I guess that I just put too much pressure on the wrenches and snapped the antenna off. Just a very sad experience! Does anyone have one for sale now or know where I can find one? Looks bad without it too! Thank You! Nemo.
  12. I think I found why my antenna won't tighten down properly. It looks like the base bolt that screws up into the plastic base of the antenna is slightly bent, probably not allowing the plastic base to tighten down properly. Can I straighten it out or does the part need to be replaced????
  13. hi I would like someone with 86-93 royale to measure the top whip on factory antenna (mine a 86, broke) need length from top of ball to top of load, point of where whip slides in,above set screw. I have new stock, right dia. but way to long. have to get close to set swr's. THANKS, BILL
  14. I take my radio antenna off so I can put my cover on the bike and have a nice place to tuck it away. Well of course this morning I forget to put it back on and for some reason did not play radio all day. I get home and go to put cover on and no antenna anywhere. So I just need the antenna itself and not the mount. So if anyone has one please PM me with a price. My zip code is 48506 for shipping...Thanks.
  15. Hi everyone For some reason unknown to me, I seem to have lost my antenna tip, that is the part that is up from the black device on the antenna. It seems to have affected my cb because I can no longer hear anything on it. The allen screw was stripped while I was losing it. Could I just replace the top part with a small whip antenna that are sold at auto parts or does it need to be OEM? Don
  16. I have an 85 trunk that I want to put on my 84. I have the trunk and the bracket that holds it but I'm missing the bar that holds the antenna. Does anyone have one that will fit they'd be willing to part with? I was wondering if the Mk2 would be the same. 84 is shorter so won't reach past the edge of the trunk and is not attached the same way. Wayne
  17. So There i was, home for the weekend. Dad and I are trying to get my bike streetable. It was a salvage bike xvz1300 m/m. I got it torn down. Tank off, fairing off, lights off, seats off. I replaced the headlight bulb, air filters, and battery. I took off the trunk (was destroyed) and removed the six disc and six disc cable. I removed the antenna for the CB and the CB from under the trunk. I then tested the radio system (what was left front speakers). The radio worked fine (even though the control is cracked). I then proceeded to take the cable from the rear of the bike and re-routed it (being extremely careful). i took it all the way out to the gas tank mount and routed it on the other side of the battery. Then dad and i went to his work and machined a nice bracket to mount the antenna down on the crossmember between the saddlebags from a chunk of aluminum. I put the lights fairing seat gas tank and EVERYTHING else back on the bike. I start it up to check it out (started AWESOME) and the radio ................. didn't work. It turned on, and....... Static.. FRIGGIN STATIC, So then ithought well ill try other stations. .NOTHING. static... So i touched the antenna and the tone of the static changed indicating that the antenna was still attached. So after 2 days of work and feeling damn good about myself, excited abotu riding.. and now i have to tear it apart to find out why. DO you have any idea why?
  18. Hope it worked? Still in progress of completion. left bag is not on it right now. had an opening problem. There is a wire for teh antenna but it is getting relocated cause i took off the trunk. It will get paint this fall. Thinking Metal Flake orange?
  19. HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE. I recently lost my cb antenna and Owen was kind enough to give me his. However, his antenna seems to have a different mount and I need to change the whole antenna instead of just the top half. I looked under the trunk and I can see the cable going into the cb box but how do I go about unplugging the cable as it seems to be up inside the box.? DO i need to uninstall the trunk or is there a way to lower the cb unit easily ETC? Thanks for assistance in advance. jb BTW I met Jesus yesterday in Houston Jesus the new Venture Rider in Houston that is. Seems he is a lurker here. He just got a new 2007 Venture in Janurary. Says he will start posting here this week. He is looking for a slightly shorter windshield for his 2007. He has a sweet ride.
  20. Does anyone know the thread size of the CB antenna base on the '07 Venture?
  21. I have 2006 Midnight Venture with a broken CB Antenna, is there anywhere I can get a replacement antenna besides the dealer, they want $180.00 for a replacement. I don't use the CB, however I may want to sell the bike, and the original equipment antenna would be needed. Thanks
  22. Hey everyone, I have a question about XM radios. If you buy a small XM radio unit can you use it in/on both bike and in car/truck? Would you have to buy two antennas to make this happen? I have an 06 Chevy that has Built in XM that I do not use and was wondering if the antenna could be unpluged from the trucks radio and used on the radio that will be used on the bike? Sorry if this sounds crazy, just would like to be able to use one XM radio for both bike and truck. Dennis
  23. I know there are som ham radio operators here, how many of you have sucessfully mounted your gear to the bike? What mobile radios work well for on the road DX'ing? or even good old 2meter chatter? also what brands do you use for an antenna and how did you mount it? It seems that Diamond does not make any of their no ground plane antennas for 10 meters or 6 meters anymore... what do you use?
  24. Anyone know where I can get an antenna for my 86VR mine broke as I was driving down the freeway.
  25. Well, here we go again with a stupid CB/AM-FM problem. I tried out the sound system on on my '85 for the first time since I bought the bike (replaced a broken antenna). Radio and CB lights up and all buttons and knobs operate as they should, tape player sounds great, but no CB action at all and reception is almost zero on the AM-FM (as though no antenna). The antenna coax has continuity, both pos. and ground. I'm wondering what component I should check first. Any ideas guys? Come on boys....restore my hearing for me.
