  1. I finally got around to adding more to my trailer. I figure my June trip is going to be here before I know it, so I better get after it. I had the basic trailer done but here's what I did yesterday: Added lights, some "decorations" like the saddle bags, cross, reigns, etc. Added some interior battery operated lights. Added some ways to store some bungees. And added some weather stripping on the inside to seal the lids. I still have more of that to add because I ran out. What I've got left to do: add more weather stripping and add locks or latches... Here's a few pictures of what it looks like so far.
  2. just pull my trailer out of storage "not heated" and now the 3bulb led lights I added last year are extremely dim. i added these little lights to just the brake light so they act like an extra brake light. worked great all last year and now nutt'n. I checked the connections to the original led brake light wire and it looks good. these were $8.00 truck stop specials so my ?? is can they just go capute. its odd they both took a dump but the origianal brake lights work just fine. any ideas???
  3. Yesterday I made a change to the classifieds. People that post in the classifieds have long complained that many of you never check the classifieds. I don't really agree with that but that is the perception. So what I have done is change it so that when an ad is posted in the classifieds, a link to it is automatically posted in the "Links to Classifieds" folder. Once an ad is posted, the link is automatically added within about 10 minutes. Hopefully this will work well and the ads will get more exposure. Now the initial responses to this change were mostly negative. I THINK that was because when I first made the change, links were made for all the existing ads and the entire home page of "new posts" and the new post button brought up nothing but classifieds. It completely buried all the other new posts that people like to read. Now that the initial import is over, the automatic posts will only be made as new classifieds are added. That is usually only 2-4 times a day and some days none at all so there shouldn't be a flood of posts like there was when I first did it. Sooooooooo.......based on this information regarding how it should work from now on, do most of you like it or not? I also want to hear again from those of you who posted in the polls area that you did NOT like it. Does this change your mind or do you still not like it? If everybody REALLY hates it...then just let me say that it was BradT's idea. If you like it, I don't mind taking full credit.
  4. I am not the brightest lite out here, and am unable to figure out if a pic can be added to a PM. Anyone who can shed some lite on this?
  5. Pulled the 96 out of the shed today, it's been there since late October. NO fluids whatsoever in the resevoir. Added Dot 3, bled, added, bled added, no pressure at all in the clutch. No noticeable leaks anywhere. Pulled the side cover, pulled off the "slave cylinder" and had a heck of time to get it to move. Finally freed it up. Pulled it apart, can feel a ridge inside about 10 thou....have it all apart still. Comments? New slave cylinder required? Best place to buy? What a spot to get at! Sure glad my son can wrench, and more importantly...SEE! This getting old crap...and owning two bikes is a wee bit challenging at times. Thanks gunk:shock3:
  6. i added the saddlebag side rails trim and had to remove the side reflector from the crash bar is there a replacement for the smaller size bars or someother type that can be added. thanks for replies
  7. OK...since I have began to REALLY enjoy and like this bike, I have been "making it my own". In the recent weeks I have added some leather fringe, electric gloves (Gerbings), changed out the Tank Bib a couple of times (see pics) and added a Gas Cap cover (yep-covering up that chrome). The leather Tank Bib and Gas Cap cover were done by a lady that rides a Tour Deluxe and I think is a member here...but not sure about that. Anyway, she made me a fancy tank bib, but I also wanted a plain black one (which is what this one is). She does VERY GOOD work also. Windshield is next...I am getting the F4 Customs shield. I just wanted to share some of this with the members here. Wally
  8. I did find an OEM windshield at bikebandit.com for $88.96 and that seems to be a fair price. Can I perhaps find an even cheaper somwhere else? I live in Sweden so toll, vat and freight will be added... My windshield is "milky" and I don't think it will pass MOT /Lars
  9. I've added a Jake Wilson banner into the rotation at the top right of the page. I kept hearing this place pop up in the forum here and finally placed an order through them myself a while back. They seem to be a great company to deal with and their prices on tires and other accessories appear to be about as good as any. The site will make a small percentage if you use that link when going to their site to make your purchases. I know that several of you use them already and this makes it easy for folks to find them.
  10. Here's a few pics of the back of my V-Star with the added lights. Muffinman has already made it a big lower and I can actually flat foot it. Makes it a lot easier to hold up a bike too, imagine that. He made the turn signals into running lights as well as turn signals. I think it's pretty bright back there now. Margaret
  11. Added the last tail light bulb so that all running and brake lights are now LEDS...Those Harley 90 degree bulbs sure are expensive. Added the chrome shift pegs and brake pedal also...Told TATERS she should feel a little safer now with the added SAFETY CHROME....
  12. Just spent the last five days and 1300 miles in the Boise Idaho area. Outside of Grandview we went to a place called the E-MUseum were they have a ton of old odds and ends. They had a couple of really unique bikes. One was a precurser to the Tote Goat and the owner had added a "sidecar" with a tractor seat (our friends the Jensens). The other was a trike. The motor is from 1907, the lower framework is an old metal bedframe and the front tire is from a bicycle. Had and great time!!!! http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/Boise%20TRA%20Rally%202010/IMG_0894.jpg http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/Boise%20TRA%20Rally%202010/IMG_0895.jpg

Maybe its just me but in the past few weeks I have noticed 5 riders, 3 on wings and 2 on harleys with one thing in common: all were wearing flip-flop beach sandals while riding. Are they nuts? One hard stop where you have to put your foot down will rip that piece of rubber right off your foot with your foot possibly added in to that equation. I mean, c'mon...what are you thinking?? And these were not kids..older riders who should know better. Oh yea, the HD riders also had no helmets on. Sigh.........
  14. As you know, Yamaha is always trying to keep up with the competition. So, with that in mind here is their new accessory that can be added to any of their present models. I think it could catch on! Yama Mama
  15. Hi all hope everybodies fine. Small problem and im sure you guys will help, my second gen aerial parts have gone rusty chrome coming off. I cannot find there part number in the manual to order new part, any help would be wonderful. added a photo you might need to enlarge it to see yello circle around parts. Thanks Dave ( UK )
  16. Made it home from the hospital last night (wife is typing for me). Still in a considerable amount of pain, but up and about on my feet. I have already started the process of looking for a new bike (with airbags!!, wife added that part) What can I say? I am a trooper! Just remember, to ALWAYS wear your helmet, and remind your friends to do the same. Here are a couple of shots of the bike. http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs494.snc3/26972_1362195648803_1048940196_31078560_6669339_n.jpg http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs514.snc3/26972_1362195688804_1048940196_31078561_5535339_n.jpg http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/hs494.ash1/26972_1362196048813_1048940196_31078568_5826999_n.jpg Ben

  18. I Just completed the install on the addition of the two extra lights on the rear of my Hannigan like 1-UP and B2DAD had done, show here. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=44683 It is a great addition to the trike and really lights up the rear even more. even looks like they belong in that spot. My FYI is that I noticed when taking the Adapters apart is how much dirt came out of them. So when I added the new lights I made two "Y" Adapters that I picked up at the computer store, as Hannigan uses the same connectors for that connection. I blew the dirt out of the original connectors cleaned them up and added die-electric grease on all the parts then connected the (y) adapters, then added silicon sealer to the top and bottom of all the wires going into each connector. Not sure if I ever would have noticed this if not adding the additional lights in the future. but seems it could be a problem of corrosion in the future. even if your not adding the extra lights I would check them and seal them a little better, Just my 2cents worth. (these connectors are the type that would be on your power supply in you computer) They had a strange look when I told them at the computer store I needed them for my motorcycle Happy Triking, Jeff
  19. OK, some advice please. I have an '86 VR with 40,000 miles. Runs great no problems to speak of at the moment...except: I have added some new stuff to it since getting four years ago. (note, it has accessory running/brake/turn lights on the trunk, but otherwise was stock for electrical stuff.) I am running with the fm radio on, and usually the CB also. First I added fog lights. Typical small accessory lights (twin 55 watt?) and no problem. then added GPS, Garmin 765T and hard wired it to the battery. NO problem. Finally added heated tourmaster gloves hardwired to the battery. ONLY the gloves. Started out OK, but after a few miles if I come to a stop, the charge voltmeter goes below 12 to about 11, and when I take off it doesn't go back up to the about 13 volts like normal. Turn off the fog lights and it goes back up to normal. Turn them back on and as long as the bike keeps going, its ok, just when I let rpms drop quite a bit. My guess is I have hit the limit of the stock charging system. Two Questions: 1. IF I try to keep going like this will I hurt something? 2. What upgrade possibilities do I have? Many thanks for any and all advice.
  20. Yesterday I received a telephone call from a member who felt that we should come up with a way to honor our military veterans. I knew that he was right and tried to come up with something yesterday but just couldn't get it done. I have now added a new award category that will add a icon to your posts that signify that you served and in which branch of the military. At this time, I have only found icons for the US branches of Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines and Navy. If some of our Canadian members can help me with icons of their military seals, I will get them added as well. The same goes for our members in other countries. In lieu of that, I could try to come up with some type of generic icon. Now, if you wish to have this icon added to your posts, you only need to click on the VRAwards link in the upper menu bar and request the reward. Don't be shy about it because if you don't tell me, I won't know. I know this is not a huge deal but hopefully it will in some small way show our appreciation for all of you who presently serve or have served in the past.
  21. If anyones has the 2009 Denis Kirk Catalog look on page 252 in the lower left corner. There is a pic of the rear of a RSV with some unusual added marker light and side bag guard rails. Has any one seen this type of guards or lights before?
  22. I only recently learned of the passing or member Ronald V. Cleveland, Canadianrider here on our site after his long batter with cancer. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the family and friends. I have added Ronald to our memorial page. I used a picture off his personal blog page. I hope that is OK.
  23. Started with a plain 5X12 trailer. Added the $30.00 Chock from H/F. Then a Tongue Box from H/F. Really got lucky at AutoZone, Asked about the $229.00 polished aluminum tool box on display. Clerk said "you don't want that one, it is bent on the bottom." Oh Heck YES I want that one, whatcha want for it!!!??? Manager says $120.00. Ya think I could pass that up? Added a spare on the rack and new radials on the ground.
  24. well everybody, I just added about four feet to the length of my trailer I pull behind my 91VR. HAd to add length to stop the thing from tail wagging on me. My question is is there anyone near by that can weld? I would rather pay and meet an memeber instead of taking it to a local welding shop. If there is anyone available and willing I will pay for time and lunch, dinner ect. I'm in Mcleansville NC just east of Greensboro. The trailer is able to be pulled soi can bring it to your shop or place that you desire. Thanks in advance. David
  25. I found a leak on the front caliper today, and took the caliper off, cleaned off all the gunk and had a look at it. I couldn't see any place where it was leaking, so I split the sides, the rubber washers were good, so I reassembled them with a bit of anaerobic sealant out side the perimeter of the rubber washers as some added assurance. Bled the brakes and everything works. Are there typical places that I sould double check that would leak on this?
