  1. Im gonna sell my '83. I wanted to give folks here a shot at it first if they wanted it. New tires front and back, new battery, new fuseable link and wire, new rear brakes and rebuilt rear caliper, recent oil change, fog lights in front, marker lights in back , reflective trim around bags, good windshield, newly recovered seat.....will need fork seals. Is she in perfect shape....nope BUT shes in good shape. BUT shes a runner BIG TIME. 9-0 running against HD, 5-0 against Corvette. HAHAHAHA. She quick quick and reliable. Ive ridden it all throughout Colorado, Nebraska and Kansas with no problems at all.
  2. Can anyone advise on a good place to put some xtra running lights on an 06 midnight venture?
  3. I searched through previous posts and could not an exact answer to my delema, so I'll ask again. I'm getting ready for an upcoming trip and did a walk around check of my lights last night and discovered that my front turn signals barely blink and aren't very distinguishable as to which side is actually doing the flashing. Back signals work great. I also tried my Hazard lights and found that they don't work at all. Anyone had a similiar problem that might have some ideas where to check. I looked through the service manual but can't find anything specific to my problem. Appreciate any and all responses. Thanks, Bobby Lane "birddog"
  4. I'm going to update the front lighting on my RSV. The bike is currently equipped with the stock headlamp, Yamaha light bar with standard lights, and a set of PIAA aux lights mounted on the bottom of the forks. The PIAA lights were installed with a fabricated mount which has proved to be inadequate, as the lights cannot be properly adjusted/ hold adjustment. I'm considering several options: 1. Replace the aux lights with moto-lights http://secure.electronicart.com/www_motolight_com or these: http://www.shopatron.com/product/product_id=PIA74238/353.0 2. Swap out the existing bulbs for brighter after-market bulbs (PIAA, Silverstone, etc.); if I do this, any suggestions for specific makes and models of bulbs? What fits the Yamaha aux lights (H3?)? 3. Install an H.I.D. light and drop the aux lights altogether. What bulb replaces our headlight? Does the high-beam/low-beam H4 work in our bikes/any bikes. Any suggestions as to make and model? I'm looking at these: http://www.xtralights.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1349 Any thoughts? Would appreciate comments from those of you who have looked to or installled any of these options, or examinged these questions?
  5. My apologies, I originally posted this in the wrong forum. I'm still getting used to the site. Sorry about that. The other day, whlie on the bike, my wife was driving behind me in her car. She said she was concerned about the lack of visibility from the rear and sides of the RSV and that we need to add some lights. I would appreciate hearing from some of you the kind of lighting you've added and if you could provide the site to obtain the lights. Thanks in advance. Jim T
  6. Hi Guys: Hope all is well with you and your RSV. There was a fella here, who made a spacer for the light bar (passing lamps) for Second Gen bikes. Is he still here? How do I contact? Silly question: Has anybody inverted the lights on the passing lamp bar? Put the directional signal on top and the passing lamps below. I was thinking about it, was wondering if any one had done it. Sponge Bob:confused24:
  7. If you order one of these inspect it very carefully when it arrives. If you are using it as running and brake lights, there should be three (one on each end and in the middle) that light as running lights. There are eight, four on each side that come on as brake lights. I was installing mine today and found out that the eight were never installed on the light board.
  8. Could someone tell me who is making the spacer for the passing lights? I seen one at the springs meet and it looks like it works well. :7_6_3[1]::7_6_3[1]:
  9. My friend has been using my Venture and mentioned to me at night he cant find anything in the luggage because its to dark. I was thinking of maybe mounting a few dome lights from a car in the tops that turn on when ypu open the luggage. Does anyone know of any problems that might arise i figure the the amount of power needed for the lights should not be a problem. But i am not a electrical guy so any ideas on how to do this would be helpfull.
  10. I rode my bike through one heck of a thunderstorm Tuesday night. I got home--put my bike in the shed and shut everything down. I rode it several times today and all appeared fine till I jumped on it tonight to return home from our county fair in the dark and found out I had no headlights--upper or lower beams--and I didn't have any instrument lights either. Everything else appears ok-I have my 4 ways and all tail lights and running lights and turn signals. Is there a fuse that could have gotten wet or something simple that may be causing the problems? Thanks for any and all help.
  11. I ordered a headlight modulator and brake flasher from http://www.comagination.com/modYamaha.htm today. The flasher is the "Brake Flasher (IBF4) with about 4 FLASHES/3 seconds and then stays steady ON until brake is released". I'm trying to decide which lights I want to hook it up to. I have an LED light bar under my trunk and I also have a tail light converter for my cooler rack or for towing a trailer. SO... I was thinking that I would only have the LED lights flash on the bike. I'm also thinking that I should have the trailer brake lights flash even though they are combined with the turnsignals. Does anyone have the combined Stop/Turn Signals and have them set up to flash? Thanks
  12. I have the Harbour Freight 40x48 trailer. I put the ground in the spot that they said to (right after the hitch). I still don't have lights. I have correct power all the way to the 4-way from the bike. Still no lights. All I can figure is that th ground is not grounding. Is there a better way to ground?
  13. I am new to this forum as well as the Venture itself. My 2003 does not have a set of driving/lights - just a single headlight. I was wondering if there was a "best" alternative for buying a set of lights and a bar that would be of high quality and that could be installed with no modifications. Appreciate any direction on this.
  14. I have been noticing that when I pull my brake on my lights dim a little. Even when my turn signal is on I see a little flicker in the dash lights. Please tell me my battery is going. Still the orignal from 04.
  15. Where can I get wiring diagrams for hooking up OEM passing lights to my 07 RSV?
  16. :confused24:I found some LED light strips which I want to mount on the rear of the wheel chair I have mounted on the back of the bike for my wife. Although all present lights are visible, I wanted to add these "just to help". I will simply put a plug under the truck to attach the lights into whenever we take the wheelchair along. Here is my question. I have a diagram of how to install the wiring so the strips work as running lights and brake lights, just as the Pilot LED strip under the trunk works. In the wiring diagram it calls for 2 #4003 diodes. I have been to every place I can think of and cannot find #4003's. I have #4002's and #4004's. Not knowing enough about the diodes, would either of these diodes work in place of the #4003??? If one would work, I can get at it, otherwise I am going to have to order 4003's and of course I want to get them installed BEFORE the weekend!!! Any of you folks who could help me with this, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
  17. A quick update. After input from several of you, I've upgraded to the Flanders bars from BuckeyePerformance.com, ISO grips and installed the leveling links from DiamondR on my 2007 RSV. WOW!!! what a difference. Got to learn to ride the bike all over again. I also added passing lamps, "fog lights", a Kuryakyn voltmeter and switch box. The lights are run on separate circuits with relays through a power plate located in the trunk. I highly recommend these upgrades. Best Regards, Leonard
  18. Hey guys, I need some parts due to unspecified reasons. There are 3 parts I need, which are: 1. left front turn signal lens 2. left side case/crash guard 3. lower left accessory lighting chrome trim which is located under the left side saddle bag. This piece has 2 red lights in it and wraps around and connects to the lower rear center piece. I don't need the lights just the chrome piece. Thanks Don H.
  19. Hello, I am trying to track down the lack of turn signal on my 1991 I have checked all fuses and connections-the bike is almost skinless should I consider replacing the signal relay?-its $130.00!! The front "turn signal" lights are fine in a runny light condition-but no turn signal. The back siganl lights give me nothing-all bulbs are new I worked hard all winter to get the bike painted and detailed-just bought it last year BUT I can't ride in Cleveland Ohio without turnsignals Your input would be greatly appreciated
  20. I have a 1990 VR that I was getting ready for a nice road trip. Turned on the key and started checking all lights, turn signals, horn, etc. Everything functioned as it should until I tried the hazard lights. They always have functioned just fine in the past. Now, this time, they are "dead". Turn signals work just fine, front and back, both sides, but hazard lights won't come on at all. Anyone have an idea where to look to make repair ? I looked for a broken wire or loose plug in that maze behind the headlight. I checked the hazard light plug and switch. Where is the "flasher" located. Everything looks fine. HELP !!!! Thanks. Red Baron

  22. Is this a previously know issue? Where should I begin looking? Glad I got them running lights installed. They worked wonders! I drove 43+ miles using them. They are quite bright.
  23. Ok... thanks to the help I got here, I got my headlight issues taken care of... Now the dang tail light doesn't work!! :bang head: The brake lights are ok... the bulbs are ok... the fuses are ok... What am I missing??? Why no tail lights?? Talk amongst yourselves for a bit... I gotta take the kidlet to the orthodontist right now. Scott:scorched:
  24. My dad got some stuff for his trike through them, said he ordered it on line, but the website has been "inactive " for a couple of months. They don't have a heck of a lot for the first gen venture, but I saw in the catalog lights to replace the reflector on the trunk. The dealer search on the site only lists 3 for NY and non of them ar very close to me.
