dome lights for luggage

I considered a stick on light but i think something wired in would look much nicer. If done right which i will make sure it is it will look like it was factory done. A nice feature to have and something to add to resale value as well in my mind. -
My friend has been using my Venture and mentioned to me at night he cant find anything in the luggage because its to dark. I was thinking of maybe mounting a few dome lights from a car in the tops that turn on when ypu open the luggage. Does anyone know of any problems that might arise i figure the the amount of power needed for the lights should not be a problem. But i am not a electrical guy so any ideas on how to do this would be helpfull.

While i am a way from home my boss decided to get my 2nd gen up and running. Today while out riding it it died on him he said he was going along at 55 with the cruise on when it happened. No matter what he did the bike would not start again. While waiting for a ride he decided to check the tank the gauge said it was a 3rd full he opened the cap and says he had a lot of gas pressure escape then all of a sudden the bike caught when he tried it. I know back in the days with cars this happened but i have never heard of it happening to a bike so i wonder is vapor lock what really happened or might it be something else

Well i am almost set the bike is starting from a battery i had. Now i need to order one for it as well as front brake pads. Any recommendations on what battery and what type of pads.Thanx

Your buddy should know better a 4 inch grinder thats laughable. A 5 pound sledgehammer on the other hand fixes everything one shot.

First i would like to thank everyone who helped with my starting problem. Second to everyone who offered to take it off my hands. If i ride it and don't like it i will let you guy fight for it. The winner gets it for the same price i did free but it must be a fight to the death to be webcast here live or no deal. Now the problem i have is the lids practically need to be pried open to get in. The locks push in and when opened finally the hinges work well. I am afraid i'll rip a top off opening one it takes so much pulling to get it open. Any ideas

Found the main fuse hidden under the battery tray and attached to it.Finally got at it and that was the problem. Who thought to hide it there i wanna talk with him. The bike will run now but needs a battery.Still has some other problems but will ask about them after i get the battery.Thanks for all the help.

I just got back home guys and thanks for all the responces. First thing in the morning i will double check the fuses myself and let you know what i find.I really need to ride less and learn about fixing more.

And where is the main fuse located.

The run switch is on and there are no lights or anything else that would indicate power to the bike when the key is turned.

Me and him always give each other the bikes we dont want or get in deals. Between the 2 of us we have around 300 bikes. The problem is we ride and break only no fixing skills beyond the basic maintence level. I know nothing about ventures but would really like to get it running .I am still looking up the locations of the fuses to check for myself but i trust he is correct and they are good.

I was recently given a 2000 Venture by a friend. He got it from a relative not working.Hooked up jumper cables and nothing. He put in a new battery and got nothing.Checked the fuses all good. The story goes the bike died after somebody hooked up cables for a jump backwards. At this point he gave it to me. I intend to double check what he did but would like some advice on what to check next.Thank You in advance for any help.
