  1. I ordered me one of those digital game cameras. Got an inexpensive model as I figured none where bullet proof. Now to catch a thief. I figure I got a shot at that local $1500 reward for info. I could buy another first gen with that. Ahhh I hope it's not family I catch.:rotf::rotf:Yammer Dan you got any vacancies down there?
  2. my rite rear cylinder leaks water out the exhaust and there is oily water around the spark plug and i have water in my oil but the weard part as soon as i warm up the motor it runs fine , i am thinking hoping it mite be the cylinder water jacket joint ? anybody ever take one of these out ? now the hard part , do i have to pull the motor to remove the rear head , to install a new head gasket ? moan !! mite be better to buy another motor , shipping is going to be he!! glad i went back to work , and before any of you 2nd gens say anything NO I AM NOT GOIN TO BUY A 2ND GEN so there :rasberry:
  3. While doing some searches for a stronger Battery for my RS Warrior I came across this. http://www.batterystuff.com/batterySearch.php?theType=Motorcycle&theMake=Yamaha&theModel=XVZ13%20Venture/Royale&theYear=1986&m=1#result I have been ordering my batteries from these people for several years and have had good luck with them. They have added a new battery to the ones used for the first gen Venture. It is the bottom one and delivers 350 CCA, which is 25% more then, the top one that I normally buy for just $10 more. They ship free from Oregon via UPS or USPS to anywhere in the lower 48, Sorry Canada, Alaska, Hawaii. Thought this might help someone Fred
  4. OK, it seems that we as a group are buying quite a few Odyssey batteries, and I thought I'd toss out this idea on doing a group buy like we've done in the past. I called the Westcoast distributor for Odyssey, and because I've bought directly from them in the past my business is already set up as a dealer even though I've only bought for personal use. They are going to have a price increase right after the first so I can't quote prices yet, but can after the first. There's no way we could put together a group order in only a couple of days. Sorry I didn't think of this sooner...??? The group buy price will be based on 10 units minimum, and any mix of the PC680MJ (1stGen) or PC545 (2ndGen) batteries. There's also a question of a possible drop ship directly from the distributor which could save a few more bucks over all. More on that later. So, is there any interest from the board?? If not, that's OK, just thought I'd ask....
  5. Does anybody have these on their bike? If so would you please post some pictures? I would like to see what they look like on the bike before I buy some. http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?Category_ID=7&manufacturer_ID=165&product_ID=3153&model_ID=42&query=Model_42%20chrome Thanks, Bubba
  6. They will sell anything on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Venture-Royale-Sales-Brochure_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ34239QQihZ005QQitemZ150190890891QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW :rotf:
  7. I was on Ebay and I came across this. Should I bid on this???!!!! Looks like a good buy. \ http://cgi.ebay.ca/Face-of-Diana-Princess-of-Wales-within-a-bagel_W0QQitemZ330194202893QQihZ014QQcategoryZ39633QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  8. I (still) have the stator wire oil leak. I thought I had it fixed with silicone, but it started leaking again after awhile. Anyway, if I just want to get new grommets to seal it, what part do I have to buy, the stator or the pickup?
  9. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Royal-Star-Brand-NEW-2007-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-Touring-Blue_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ50045QQihZ017QQitemZ270186986017QQtcZphoto The buy it now price is right around dealer cost.-jack
  10. What kind of jacket(s) and other riding garments do you own? Why do you like them? What are their weaknesses? Any tips on who to buy from and what to buy? Christmas is coming and I am sure this information will be useful to us all.
  11. I Just Called My Dealer That I Have Spent $32,000.00 At In The Last Four Years And Have Sent Countless Customers To And Ask How Much He Would Charge Me To Mount And Balance 2 New Tires For Me. He Tells Me "you Didn't Buy Them From Me So I Can't Do It" What The F*@! I Got Them For $65.00 Less So I Could Aford To Have Them Put On. What Ever Happend To Customer Service After The Sale?
  12. Not a bad buy it now price. Several miles left in this one.No I don't need it because my 84 is just like it. The Red ones are fast. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1984-yamaha-venture-jya41v000ea002050_W0QQitemZ260178226096QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item260178226096
  13. I've read a lot about the pros and cons of headsets and still can't decide whether to buy a set or not. Brenda and I have ridden my '06 RSV for almost 2 seasons without them and have gotten along alright but if they could help hear the radio better or for us to talk to each other, I'd buy a set. I currently wear a half helmet and am looking at an open face while Brenda already has an open face model. I've heard some people say that the intercom is noisy because it is always live. I guess I could buy Mic-Mutes for more $$ but is it really worth it? I see on EBay that you can buy stereo headsets for helmets that don't have a Microphone so that you can listen to the audio. These come with an 1/8" stereo jack. You can then buy the adapter that allows you to plug it into the headset plug on the bike. Anyone tried these? I don't want to spend the money on headsets only to find out that they don't work well at highway speeds or that there's other drawbacks. Any feedback (positive or negative) would be appreciated. Thanks; Rod.
  14. I'm sure, just like every other 1stGen owner, I always thought that if I ran into a clean newer 2ndGen at a steal price, I'd buy it. To be honest I'm getting tired of working on bikes. I know a lot of members are going to jump all over that statement, but I would really like something that takes normal service and runs down the road. Maybe there's no such thing? But I don't want to be a slave to a source of intertainment. I wanna ride. After reading about all the problems that 2ndGens are having.... both with dealer service, and common repeating problems.... I don't think a 2ndGen is much better than a 1st, and doesn't have much of a track record either. I get the feeling that it's buy a Venture, and become a mechanic. New or old...it doesn't make much difference. Another thing that's making me leary about the 2ndGen is it seems to be designed more for someone that's smaller. I've read a bunch about taller riders doing all sorts of things to create extra leg room, and I'm at the upper end of the horizontally challenged scale. I'm going to start broadening my search and start looking at other brands. There's got to be an answer out there somewhere.......I'm just getting the feeling it's not with Yamaha.....
  15. My terrier decided to destroy my owners manual today while I was at work. Is there a good place I can go to download another or do I have to buy one from the local stealer??? Eddie Flinchum
  16. or, maybe the Kings... I have a dilemma and some of you all have experience I need. I have an 05 RSTD. I recently purchased an 08 Concours. My SO wants to start riding again and she would like a "queen's seat" like on the GW/RSV. I love the 08 Concours for that solo ride and SPORT-touring capability but it's no 2-up mount. There really isn't an option of convincing her to ride on the RSTD. I've owned an 03 RSV and I simply won't buy another until it is updated as I want all the doodads. We have sat on a new Victory Vision and even though it has many features I can't get past an air-cooled motor being mounted in all that plastic nor some elements of the design. I'm also not too interested in HD bikes due to power and noise issues. I'm looking for something electric quiet as my 08 Concours ... I've found I really like that a lot. So, given all this would you convince me not to buy an GW for 2-up riding ? You have any thoughts ? Also, should I sell all my accessories and the RSTD separately ? Is that what you would do ? Here is the list: Luggage Rack Dyna3000 Baron's Reservoir Tach Water Pump Cover Oil Cover Utopia Backrest (may retro to the GV ?) Brake Reservoir Cover Left Side Air Wings Aluminum Radiator Cover BUBs Stock Windshield K&N Filters
  17. I like to go to m/c dealers just to look at bikes, both new and used. sometimes they will let me ride one if they are not busy. What three bikes would you like to "demo" just for fun, not to buy but because you are curious. Mine is the Rocket III, Harley Road Glide, and the Valkyrie.
  18. Where's a good place to buy the brake pads?
  19. Is it true that 50% of crotch rocket riders have no insurance, motorcycle operators, or both? Apparently I am dealing with a kid. Won't call me on the phone but he bid and won the auction for my Vmax. He paid the $500 down in 48 hrs but the balance in full date has past. He said he wanted to come up and get it and ride it back but his ride bailed out on him. I told him send me payment in full (were communicating via email) and I will mail you overnite the bill of sale and signed title. Then you can buy your insurance, tags, etc and ride it back. He says he don't want to send payment in full with no bike and I understand that. Says he has 3 days to get tags and insurance. OK but the day we close the deal my tags and insurance comes off and it's yours. You might want to take the vin number buy your insurance then see if you can get a one way permit. He even wanted to know if I had a helmet MAN buy your own helmet that fits your head. I don't even know if he knows how to ride. Anyway even offered to deliver it to Virginia for little more then gasoline and lunch cost. Still waiting I wish he would call me but so far only email.
  20. Looking for a 12" Yamaha w/s. It's 2" wider on each side, and I really like the width. I found a 12" Cee Bailey from one of our great members here, and am going to buy it if I can't find the Yamaha version. Anyone have one forsale? I'd take a 9" or a 12" if they have the extra width. Thanks in advance.
  21. I am currently looking for a new 07 Blue/Raven. Of course with winter around the corner there's no rush. I would like to get some input on what the best month is to buy to get the best deal. Personal I would think October, end of motorcycle season, and before sled season.
  22. I needed some more room to stretch out on long rides. I thought about installing some crash bars and slap some pegs on 'em but they looked to be to far out and to high up. I want to relax not pull a muscle! So I saw some floorboard mounted highway pegs on a bike and started hunting them down online. $153 for the mounts! The ya had to buy the "mount specific" pegs. Screw that! I had some iso pegs laying around so what I did was bought me some hardened 1/8th in zinc plated L brackets from Ace Hardware for $8 and some nuts and bolts. All said and done right around $10. I cut the bracket to the length I needed with my trusty hacksaw and drilled the holes I wanted in the bracket the pulled the rubber pad off the board and drilled corresponding holes thru it. Bolted the brackets to the underside of the boards and drilled a mounting hole for the pegs. Badda Boom Badda Bing....took me about an hour. Will post pics if anyone is interested. Next up....I think I figured out a way to mount a windshield without having to buy all of Yamahas overly expensive stuff.......post more after I run a few prototypes. But Im thinking that instead of dropping the $500 with Yamaha or the $325 with Memphis Shades I can do the whole shooting match for about $150...and the mounting should be more solid.....I hope
  23. I used to ride a Royal Star Classic and my wife still has fond memories of that bike. I'm in the throes of selling some property and I'll have some cash available to buy a new tourer. I'm having mixed feelings on what to buy as this next bike will be a keeper.(I always say rhat when I buy a bike.) There are only two bikes I'm looking at and they are obviously the Venture or a Wing. Both these bikes are alot more expensive to buy in Australia. On the road a New Venture will set you back $A28,500 and a Wing $A43,000. Used - at the moment there is a white 2004 Vemture with 4,740 kms on the clock for $A23,000 and also a 2001 Wing with 73,000kms for $A24,000. ($1 aussie dollar gets you 86cents american at the moment. Bikes are a lot dearer here). I still prefer the look of the Venture although it it starting to show its age with no real updates. Also the 2007 will be the last model to be imported into Australia. Yamaha will not be bringing in the 2008 model. There is always a good market for used Wings here. Pretty much I can get a new venture for a three year old wing. What to do?
  24. I want to buy a GPS for my motorcycle. Would be nice to also use it in the car but not mandatory. What is the best one to buy. Looking at ZUMO 550 and Tom Tom's rider 2nd Edition. I don't know enough about them but I GOTTA HAVE ONE...... Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.
  25. I'm going to look at another '83 tomorrow. It is a blond. If I buy it, I will be parting it out. It is a runner without second gear. Royale.
