  1. I haven't seen anybody refer to polarised lenses (Polaroids). These are the only lenses that will eliminate glare. Your coloured lenses and graduated lenses only go dark or change the colour of the world without reducing the glare. Where do I find most of my annoying glare? - off the road surface. I think you guys top-side call it the blacktop. Pay $20 a pair for mine. Metal frames, polycarbonate lenses. All styles from Air Force to hippy. Check out my photo. They're Air Force style Polaroid ®.
  2. Would never work in Oz. ALL turn signals MUST BE amber. Red is only for tail lights and brake lights. All rear facing lights can be only red or amber. Reversing light obviously is clear. All forward facing lights must be either clear or amber. Saves a lot of damned confusion, don't you reckon?
  3. . . . and again, and again!
  4. Doesn't matter how well you lock something up, locks only keep out the honest people. All a good crook needs to knock off your bike is 2 skateboards. One under each wheel and push her away like a trolley.
  5. You said it Monsta. Waste of money. And you're right - 78% it is already.
  6. I don't mind filling my bike with fuel now and then. At least it doubles the value of the damned thing whilst it's full.
  7. Imagine the chicks you'd pull with a 2nd Gen!
  8. Hey Don. Congrats again on a great(er) looking site. As for the 'unanswered posts' thingie - I had a quick look at them and thought about 5% of them sought a response - the rest sanctioned a tacit read only. However - I suppose it's that 5% that should be entertained. KUTGW. Spear
  9. I remember my mum singing to me as I dozed off in the back seat of the family car. Does that count?
  10. I know there is probably an answer to the following question elsewhere on the forum, but I need to ask it here. Thanks. I took my bars off the other day to install my Barons risers. I found it impossible to install the bars on the risers. Could not get them far enough away from the steering head to fit them. Do I get the feeling that I have to loosen throttle / brake / clutch etc fittings and slide them down the bars to give me that spacing, then slide them back in position and do them up again? Mind you, I tried doing it solo. May need to get the pillion-in-a-million child-bride of 35 years to help me. Can't wait to get it done, but want to do it right. I await your ever-forthcoming wisdom.
  11. I say again Don - "Thank you." Keep on keepin' on!
  12. Some good advice here. I rip using Windows Media Player @ 128. I have a 4GB clone of an Apple iPod that I clip on to my key tag, and plug into the auxiliary socket next to the tape deck. Ride for hours and hours and listen to some damned good rock. Lotta Pink Floyd and Deep Purple in there. Damn - I feel like another ride just to listen to that rock again.
  13. Monsieur Donald, C'est magnifique. Tres bon. Viva la venture! Spear
  14. I'll second that. Visited and signed. Thank you.
  15. Here in Oz some fuel companies are mixing 10% ethanol with their standard unleaded fuel. This is around 3 - 4 cents a litre cheaper that the real stuff, and for my 2c worth I won't allow it NEAR my bike. I won't even allow it near my Subie. We have 3 different octane ratings of fuel - all unleaded. Leaded fuels have been outlawed. The 10% ethanol bowsers supplement the standards.
  16. 15 lbs eh? That's pretty good when you consider that standard air pressure at sea level is 14.7 lbs. (Or doesn't it work that way?)
  17. Oi. You leave Margaret alone or I'll, I'll . . . I'll . . .- - - - What will I do Margaret?
  18. I do not try to explain why I ride a Yamaha. For those who understand, no explanation is necessary. For Harley riders - no explantion is possible!
  19. Hey Margaret. Don't disCOUNT me, willya?
  20. Went into the undercover car park of my work office the other day to get in one of the Toyotas. As I went through the door I hit the zapper to unlock the car (heard the blip blip and noticed lights flashing), then jumped in the car. Key in the ignition - wouldn't turn. Damn. Took it out, put it back in. No go. Turned it over (don't know why.) Made sure the transmission was in P. Nothing worked. Thought maybe there was a problem with the auto ignition kill with the zapper, so I hit the zapper button again. Wouldn't you know it - the lights on the car next to me flashed. I had gotten into the wrong car. Obviously somebody had not locked the one I had jumped in to when it was used last. Both cars are the same model and same colour. Live and learn.
  21. Similar sort of thing happened to me a couple of months ago. I parked my 2004 RSV in an undercover carpark of a shopping mall. When I had finished shopping I returned to the bike and was getting ready to leave when an old bloke idled past in his car, stopped and said, "Jeez that's nice. Is it a Harley?" I said, "No mate. It's a motor bike." The confused look on his face was soon erased by the chorus of laughter from others walking by who were also admiring the machine. You have to appreciate the rarity of these things in Australia. My 2004 was the 58th bike brought into the country. Not bad for 6 years of importing. That's around 10 a year. And now that they're not going to import any more after this year, mine will grow in value day-by-day. Maybe I should have it gold-plated?
  22. Now - that's just what we need. An audible oil change warning noise. Sure beats putting a sticker on your screen! :rotf:
  23. Okay Tommy. That's "Deep" what?
  24. Okay. This will test you. Let's see how old we all are and who remembers good ol' rock. I need to know the name of the song (hint - look for blue), the name of the band that sung it - and the name of the album it comes off. - AND NO GOOGLING!!!:no-no-no: Peeping round the door I got a big surprise Couldn't see a thing but open skies They've taken her away where is she now Wish that she was here wish she'd hold my hand Maybe she could laugh maybe understand Why was I so cruel where is she now Acting like a fool I had to make her cry Maybe I'm a Leo but I ain't a lion I'm hurting oh so bad, I want her now.
  25. 27 years, 2 months and 17 days as a LEO (that's 9,959 days - but who's counting?) forcibly retired on 20/09/2005 and given a medical discharge at age 54. The last 20 years were spent in forensics. They're still paying me until I turn 60, then I will commute the half a mill sitting in my superannuation fund and invest it for the future and for my 3 kids and their families. Meanwhile I have been taken on board two and a half days a week by my state Corrections Department, working with community-based offender services. And as luck would have it, my pillion-in-a-million bride of 35 years is my clerical officer, working the same 2.5 days each week. Doesn't get better than that! Don't have to work, but need to maintain the social intercourse (and pay for the fuel for my 2004 RSV!)
