  1. Right Randy, this Spring is giving the Pressure to the Thrust Washer. Maybe this was their main Goal, but why do this "secretly", Sort of ....
  2. IPC stands for Internet Parts Catalog Here's the Pic for the '83, your '84 is the same ... http://images.powersportsnetwork.com/fiche/images/YAMAHA/1983/Motorcycles/4522_shiftcamfork.gif We're talking about the #7 Parts. Those Pins get loose and fall out. If you want to make an End of this, Buy the revised Parts off an 2004 Vmax or later. They adressed the Issue with updated Part.
  3. Either George is right (most likely this is the Culprit) or your Shifter Linkages are the Problem.
  4. What Kind Words to say ... I'm slow ...... :rotf::rotf:
  5. Well Rick, i said it before and i'll say it again ... bring in that Vmax/FJR final Drive and your most likely quit with the Whine. Until then, whine on .... :rotf:
  6. Oh Forrest, i'm sorry to say, but even the ST1300 lacks some Horses to compare with the Vmax Engine, old or new .... There are missing 15 hp to the 1Gen Vmax already ... this is with the latest Update from 2002 whereas the Vmax was downgraded over the Years from 145 hp to 140 hp. I have a Bit of a hard Time following your Arguments.
  7. Which Honda V4 has more Power ??
  8. I'll keep my Fingers crossed fer ya !!
  9. I'll pass this Quest .... i have some of them purple Trucks on my Yard ...
  10. Hey, I'm still in the Office running this Months Pay Roll and other freakin' stupid administrative Things for making Uncle Fritz happy... No Way watching F1 on TV, and much less Chance for being there. I've to rely on TV Replay tonight. Just checked the Parts# for the Spring, They're all the same, just as the "Holder" Number. I think there's nothing harmed when using the old Spring. The Way the Setup works, there has a Lot of Force to be applied until the Driven Cam disengages. That's a very uncommon Scenery here. I smell a little japanese Rat. To me, it looks like they made the Holder too big in '83 and put too much Preload on the Cam. Once they acknowledged that, they quitely changed the Holder Piece to the Vmax Parts and forget to tell anybody... If the '83 Part would have been changed or "normally" superseded, there would be something like "(replaces 41R 17524-00-00) to be read in Text.
  11. I second that Question
  12. Are there Signs of someone being in the Motor before ? You know, two Sorts of Sealer on the Casing, Scratches inside the Motor, something like that ? The 2WE Parts Number cannot be the Part for all V4's from '83 on. I believe, the 2WE Model hit the Market in '86 or '87 or so, therefore, if this Number should go into a '83 Venture, it's NOW that this Part should be used, but it couldn't be used in '83. The originally used Part in the Venture was superseded with the Vmax Part. This could probably go along with a different Spring, most likely with a different Spring Rate.
  13. Amd you checked with a short flying Wire if the Switch is at Fault ?
  14. I think you have a Typo here ... Since you're Part of the Group this should read "We're a great Group ..." :bluesbrother:
  15. Now Dan, that sounds more like what i wanted to hear from you. I couldn't understand what those Folks are making out of the Situation, but now, there is some Hope. Hang in there, there's a little Light far out at the Horizon.
  16. I'd connect the Pump directly to a 12 Battery or other 12 Volt source. Then work on the ground Connector to give the Pump intermittent Power. If only the Diaphragm is stuck from Fuel Residue) it could free up again. Also, the Fuel Pressure Switch inside the Pump could have a bad Connection. I'd open the the Cap and take a Look inside.
  17. Where does the Profit go ?? Well, some of will end up in the shareholders Pocket and some will end up in in Uncle Sam's, Uncle Fritz's or Tomito San's Goverment Pocket(in Form of Taxes). Global Economy is a global Field, the Money makes its Way around the World. You're right. As long as a Company doesn't earn more Money per Employee than each Employee earns in Wages and Benefits from the Company he works for, the Answer is, the Earnings stay mostly where the Job is actually done and the Wages are paid.
  18. Very good Advise here. But i'd like to add, it is necessary to open the Pinch Bolts for the Fork Legs on the lower Fork Yoke before adjusting and tightening the Top Nut !! If this isn't done, the Distance between upper and lower Fork Yoke will stay the same, whereas the Distance on the Steering Stem gets lower(one Turn on the to Adjustment Nuts makes 1 mm Difference). This is not good at all, because the Yokes are bent and we won't have any extra and unnecessary Stress/Forces in the Steering System. If you open the Pinch Bolts before adjusting the Bearing, the Fork Legs will slip through the lower Yoke and the Steering is Stress free after tightening Top Nut and Pinch Bolts.
  19. Dan, you can buy a genuine OTEC Lock up Clutch from Bill Warner at Wild Bros for about 1000 US$, i think. I use a VERY SIMILAR () Product from here locally for about 300 Euros which modifies your used inner Clutch Hub and your Pressure Plate. That'll be around 420.00 US$ plus something Extra for P+P at the current Exchange Rate. Sounds not too cheap, but you can save Part of the Money in Clutch Plates. You most likely never will buy them again. This Clutch works with Weights inside, which are moved through the Circumference Speed and lock the Clutch Package together at about 2000 RpM. This Lock Mechanism is unlocked by the Clutch Lever/Push Rod Movement. So when you pull the Clutch Lever, the Weights are forced into unlocking Position and you can operate the Clutch as you're used to. Another added Benefit is, You need only minimum Force at the Clutch Lever, even the weakest Spring you can find is good enough for this Clutch.
  20. Now, that's Kind of a rude Comment, but nevertheless, it's the Truth ... :whistling: It's the Power and the Torque which makes the Problem more or less prone. On a 1Gen with use of heavy Power, mostl likely, you will have the Clutch slipping soon when using synthetic Oil, M/C specific or not. You may not feel this, because you don't ride it hard enough to feel it slipping right away. With the 2Gen's, having a much longer Gear Ratio in the upper Gears, the Problem is less prone because most Riders very seldom come up in the Revs near red Zone in 4th or 5 th Gear, just because it's dangerous for the License ... But that's where the real Power is. On a Vmax, which uses absolutely the same Parts, you will have Problems with syn. Oil at an Average of 97 Percent. It all depends on the use of the right Wrist and what you make out of it. That all said, i never would have believed the Clutch on my '99 Vmax would slip. But then, i mounted a Lock-up Clutch and i was in Awe about the Difference this made, especially in 4th and 5th Gear under full Throttle. My Clutch slipped for Years of riding, without my Knowledge and without me feeling anything of it. Since then, I strongly believe the Clutch of my '93 VR is slipping also and i will mount a Lock-Up Clutch there also sooner or later.
  21. WOW, that's just plain mean !! My Wife never will be up THAT early !!!
  22. I'm 6 Hours ahead of you Guys, hard Work in the Office, just changed to the third fresh Shirt ... :crying:
  23. Here's my Suggestion ... Dan, you won't outrun Brown Sugar with a (severe) slipping Clutch. Just stay with the Dino. I agree on shifting gets a bit harder when the Oil is the End of it's Life Cycle, but if you'd take out any Slack of the Shifter Linkages, you'd be fine. Those Linkages are getting sloppy and this what makes up the Grief. Especially the Shifter Pivot is prone to have too much Slack. A good and precise turned Brass Bushing, inserted into a bigger Bore at the Shift Lever works wonder.... Disclaimer: Just my 2 Cents of Course, I'm not going to open that Can of Worms, again !! If you disagree with my Opinion, feel free to do so, I'll keep my Opinion.
