Ok I have to chime in here. On Saturday I had the pleasure of riding with Yammer Dan to the Mine all total it was a good days trip. I have never met him before and to be honest I didn't know about his past accident. Muffinman told me abouthat today. I can understand your being upset but let me tell you. Of all who were out riding he was by far the safest rider out there. He never pushed the bike or his abilities on the entire ride. If the rest of us started getting too far ahead, he stayed running at his own pace. I very much appreciated riding with him and knew that he was not going to push it no matter what everybody else did. You see this was my first time riding mountain roads so I was uneasy at times. Regardless of what impression you got from the picture I got the impression that he wouldn't do anything dangerous. He was very cautious on the ride. I know you don't know me from Adam, but I wanted you to know that I honestly feel that Dan is a VERY SAFE RIDER.

Actually they are Diamond R back rests and they are easy as pie to install. Just take the drivers seat off, remove the two bolts that hold the passenger seat on put the seat bracket in place and use the two bolts that come with it to fasten the seat and back rest. Diamond R makes a great back rest, actually all there products are superb quality. I had one on my first 99 and really liked it.

Steve it was great meeting you. You are right, we are one big happy family. I haven't met anyone who wouldn't drop what they were doing to help a member. This is the best place on the web. Welcome to the family.

Thank you Mini for putting this meet together. WoW we had a great time. Keep an eye on the Muffinman cause he is going to blimp up quick with all those banana splits that are owed to him. Really Jeff, thanks for the help. It was really great finally meeting everybody and being able to put the names to faces. Rooster you are a Hoot, thanks for the BBQ it was good, especially the next day when the beans had a chance to ferment. Just ask Krome Rose, I left a cloud for her to walk through entering the hotel room. She thought my shoes had gone bad. Anyway we got in around 5 after a very pleasant ride home. Actually got back an hour quicker than it took to get to Asheville.

Krome Rose and myself made it. We checked into the motel and are cooling off. Gonna head to the KOA in a bit. I'm proud of Krome Rose she put down close to 400 miles today, by far her longest trip riding her MC, or any MC for that matter.

Lowell take care of yourself everything else will be fine. There is always another meet down the road. Be good, don't give the docs a hard time. LOL

Krome Rose and myself will be easing on down the road first thing in the morning, bikes are packed we just need to throw a leg over and get on down the road. Going to take it easy, not sure how long it's going to take. We are staying at the Quality Inn and Suites Biltmore East, we are afraid of the Pond Monster!! Actually I'm afraid that if Krome Rose sees the Pond Monster this old Dawg just won't do the trick anymore. ROFLMAO!!!! Will check in when we arrive.

Engine or tranny rattles. Normal???
SaltyDawg replied to buford7657's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Both of mine have done the same thing, pull the clutch in the noise goes away. Pretty much a normal thing. I have 76,000 miles on the original clutch. -
Sorry to hear you went down, that sucks for sure. Glad you came through it alive all be it banged up pretty bad. Rest now and take care of INS later.

Light Bulb Replacement
SaltyDawg replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
If you have small hands it can be done without taking the fairing off. You have to turn the handlebars to the right as far as they will go then reach in and pull the rubber boot off of the back of the HL, pull the power connector. Then you have to release the spring clip to remove the light bulb. Try and keep the bulb in the same position so you can see where the keys go for putting the replacement back in. I suggest getting a Sylvania Silver Star H4ST I could have the numbers and letters backwards, but the Bulb is an H4. The Silver Star is much, much brighter than the stock one. The other way to do it and it's easier for me since I have big hands is to remove the fairing and turn HB's to the right, then loosen completely the HL Beam adjuster. You have to loosen it completely in order to remove the HL bracket. Then there are two hex bolts that hold the HL bracket in, just remove them and pull the bracket out, remove the boot and spring clip take old bulb out and replace. "DO NOT" touch the new bulb at all or you will be doing this again in short order. Handle it by the tines that the connector hooks up to. Not a hard job, takes about 40 min from start to finish if you pull the fairing. -
Yeah we were not planning on going to the concert either.

Rear Shock replacement question
SaltyDawg replied to bobbyduck's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I'm not sure what the stock number is. They actually don't have them in stock for the RSV they make them custom for each RSV. They take into account your weight and if you ride two up your partners weight, also whether you pull a trailer and what style of driving you do most. They use this information to build the correct shock for YOU. Get with Rick at www.buckeyeperformance.com and he can quote you a price. I'm pretty confident they run over $650.00, but Rick will be able to give you a solid answer. I advise getting it through Rick since he is a dealer and will more than likely be able to get it quicker than you could on your own. -
Sorry but this statement doesn't make sense. If you keep it on reserve how do you know when to start counting the miles? Me personally I leave mine on "on" and only move it to reserve if I actually hit reserve, which for me is usually every 2 days.

WATERBURY, Vt. — A Hinesburg man is recovering from broken bones after he hit a bear while riding a motorcycle on Vermont Route 100 in Waterbury. The state police says that 52-year-old Neale Gow was southbound on Route 100 at about 6 p.m. Sunday when the bear moved into the road on front of him. Gow was thrown from his motorcycle. He was hospitalized with broken bones. There is no word on the condition of the bear. Good thing the bear didn't stick around. I have had my close encounter with a bear while riding my scoot.

Rear Shock replacement question
SaltyDawg replied to bobbyduck's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Unless your hands are small and you don't mind contorting your arms I would suggest jacking the bike and removing the rear tire. It only takes 20 minutes and it will make it 1000% easier. What shock are you going to use? The works performance? If not then just let Yamaha take care of replacing it under warranty. There is no need to remove the fender at all. -
As long as it's not like the one that goes to the top of the Arch in St. Louis. Did that once and WILL NEVER DO IT AGAIN. LOL

First thing I would check is to make sure the CB is hooked up to the CB antenna. The CB antenna should be on the left side with the cable going to the box under the trunk. The radio antenna is on the right side and the cable goes under the passenger seat. This is a condition that seems to be getting more and more common.

Man I'd mount that missle on an automated mount and have it follow people/cars down the street. That would push the pucker factor up ten fold.
