  1. Damn Steve, that sure is a fastball that got thrown at ya. Your attitude is good and from what I have experienced through family members with cancer Attitude is what helps the most. Stay Positive and know you are in our prayers.
  2. You so funny.. LOL Maybe I should of said High Temp Tape. In the aviation world I came from we called it heat tape.
  3. Yeah, I was looking at that path. I am concerned about being on a bike that long. I have been off for close to a year and as I told Jeff I just started riding again about 3 weeks ago. Nothing over an hour. It's going to be a last min decision for me (Brandy has to work) I get shots in my shoulder tomorrow morning so I have no Idea how I will feel Sat.
  4. I had this problem and it was the connectors under the passenger seat. It was intermittent and only when the wife was with me. I was able to duplicate it and fixed it by putting dialectic grease on connectors and then taping the connection point with heat tape.
  5. Margaret, are you going to have to go up to Moyock to get there?
  6. Anybody have any experience with the slipstream bagger windshield? I don't have to worry about a passenger, but I would like a bit more wind. My clear view is great but I don't have a vent in it so things get a tad hot on warm days. Here is the link. The video shows how it works. http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/3/14/135/46811/ITEM/Slip-Streamer-BaggerShield.aspx
  7. Looks ominous. And the say God is on their side.
  8. Hey Margeret. Brandy and I are so sorry to hear about your Grandfather. It's such a hard loss to deal with. We are sending our thoughts and prayers your way.
  9. Thanks for the well wishes and offers to stay. Fried taters and balony sounds pretty darn good, it's been a long time. At this time we are planning on sticking it out, we have been through some pretty rough storms before. We hope this one isn't going to be as bad as the weather channel and news are making it out to be. I haven't decided if they are just making a big deal of it since it's the first one to hit the East Coast in a while, or if it really is that bad. We have had 130 mile sustained winds before, this one is supposed to be 110 when it comes ashore. It's starting to look a little disorginized and hasn't strenghtened like they though it would, so maybe it won't be as bad. In the morning if it looks worse then we may head inland. Thanks again, Wayne
  10. Everyone up the Eastern Seaboard pay attention to this girl, she means business. We hope everyone stays safe and has little to no damage. Right now the eye is projected to make landfall about 15 miles from us and then go right over us. Everybody in low lying areas head to higher ground she is going to be a big Rain Maker ala Floyd. Only she will be moving faster thank God. So play it safe please. Wayne
  11. On the newer stickers maybe. I still have an older sticker and it covers most of it. The only time I ever took it off was when I rode through Camp Lejeune on Hwy 172 to Myrtle Beach, when it was open to the public. That way I didn't have to conform to the base rules about long sleves, vest, and what not.
  12. Great place to put it is on the plastic piece just below the headlight. The one that covers the bolts that hold the passing lamps on. Nice thing about that is you can pop it off and throw it in the saddlbag if you feel the need. No one else would know that it pops off so no one would take it. Mine has been there on both my bikes totalling 8 years with no problems.
  13. Got ours Friday. Look great. Thanks Don
  14. Just be careful of DirectTV. I was with them for about 4 years and still paying for basic cable so I could get local channels. (Before Congress mandated they offer them) When I finally realized that it would be cheaper going with cable I dropped DTV and then the harassment started. Phone calls all the time wanting me back, when I told them to stop calling they kept on. Finally I threatened to turn them into our Attorney General. Guess what, they then sent me an official document claiming I am "Stealing" their signal. (Still had the dish on my house) They demanded $10,000.00 and they would drop their case against me. I said "Bring it on" then went searching for a lawyer. No lawyers in our area would touch the case claiming they represented DTV in some fashion or another. Anyway, the Internet can be a wonderful source of information and I found out about a Class Action Suit against DTV for exactly the same thing. Harassing phone calls and then letters claiming that you are stealing their signal. We won the case and I received somewhere in the neighborhood of $600.00. It's nice to see the big guy lose now and then. I doubt they still have those things going on, but just be careful.
  15. Looks good Gene. Well done and compliments your equipment. Can't get much better than that.
  16. I've got to say that was worth the read!!!:rotfl:
  17. Well my RSV was missing on both rear cylinders Saturday. It was hitting intermittently through most of the power range. I went out this morning to look at one of the plug caps. When I checked resistance it was 9.6K. I then opened it up and emptied the contents onto the table. I had the brass plug, the resistor, the spring with corrosion, and what appeared to be clumps of black powder. I am assuming this was whats left of the brass disk because there was not one in it. I cleaned the spring and the end of the brass plug, put it back together (without the brass disk) and my resistance is now 290K. Think I may have found my problem. Gonna try and get new caps and see where I am.
  18. Dang Gene I just read this. I don't know what to say. It's a tragedy that this happened, but the good Lord had you passing by at the right time to comfort the father. I feel dumb for not talking to you about it when I called yesterday evening checking on you and Becky about the flooding situation down there. I honestly didn't know. If you need someone to talk to let me know. I listen real well. If the father was under the influence of anything then he deserves to be charged. I know it's hard to consider charges against someone after such a tragedy but that child didn't do anything wrong and he paid for his fathers indiscretions. I hope sleep comes easier to you soon. Wayne
  19. WoW you guys have been great. This is the kind of advise I was looking for. I don't know what the near future holds for me right now, but suffice it to say things are bad enough that I am contemplating other options. Are most of the jobs Union jobs? How's that work. Never been apart of a Union. My BIL was with an electricians Union. He liked it, but there were some issues. Which do you guys think I should go for a CDL or Heavy Equipment Operator? Both have been desires in the back of my head forever. I'm not going to make this a political thread, but they are cutting Govt jobs in the DOD and, well I've been told that ours have a good chance of being on the chopping block. I say it's best to be looking into options. I want to pay for the training outright, even if it is with a company that offers the training. Maybe that's a possibility, I don't know. I have to make some calls. One of our Sons is an trucker and he loves it. He is home most weekends, although for the first year or so he was always on the road. The company paid for his training, but he loved it and had no regrets. I haven't been able to talk to him about this since I have only been really considering this move these past few days. I have discussed this with my wife and she backs me 1000%, we will do what we have to do to survive. Thanks again for all the great advise. Wayne
  20. Thanks 6pak great advice. I'm betting the wife could stand for me to be away right about now. LOL. She would not mind a few ride a longs. I doubt she would want to drive though. You also answered my question about paying for training. I was afraid that would happen. I do love to drive and there's alot of this country I haven't seen yet. Thanks Wayne
  21. Thanks Tom. That's good information. Unfortunatly I am 47 and would be starting this gig late in life, but I have to provide for my family. My driving record is clean. Nothing since I was 18. I pride myself on being a good driver. Do you think it would be better to get my CDL then look for a job, or get hired by a company and let them train me? I know that the cost of the training would come out of my pay. Thanks again. Wayne
  22. It's possible that I may need to look for a new career path. Ever since I was a kid I wanted to drive the big rigs. Do we have any truckers and can you spare some info and advice? Thanks in advance. Wayne
  23. In my younger (dumber) days I climbed towers for 10 years. Had a real close call that made me rethink my priorities and called it quits. I wasn't getting paid extra to do it and had no professional training. (back to the dumber part) I will say this, it's pretty exhilarating sitting on the top of a tower looking for miles around while eating your lunch.
