  1. That is the main reason I put them in the series, I was hoping someone would have info on them and the passenger seat.
  2. WHAT????? Your not planning on bringing the SSB?
  3. Yeah I did a double take when I walked past that bike. I was so into that bike I almost forgot I had a camera.
  4. You know I'm starting to really get offended by people making that remark about rear tire mileage. I have gotten it before and usually get between 18 and 20,000 miles. No I don't ride like a little old lady, but I do maintain my tire pressures. I clutch brake like everybody else. In fact the last set of rear brakes on my bike lasted over 30,000 miles. I say over because I put 30,000 miles on the bike before I changed them and I bought the bike used. they still had 1/8 of an inch on the pads. I am getting ready to order my 3rd rear tire since getting this bike. There is probably another 1,000 to 1,500 miles left on it but I am taking a trip to Northern Virginia and then the trip to Asheville and I don't take chances like that with a well worn tire riding 2 up in the mountains. I put new tires on this bike immediately after buying it and have put 37,600 miles on the bike since I bought it 18 months ago. Now if I have done my math right that averages to 18,800 miles a tire. Not counting the mileage that might be left on this tire. Two reasons that I might get more miles out of a rear tire is: 1. I live on the Eastern Seaboard and don't have hills, mountains, or a lot of twisties. 2. I use the Michelin Commanders. Never got more than 10,000 miles out of any other rear tire manufacture, usually only 8,000 on my first RSV. Dunlop, Bridgestone, Continental, or Avons. So just because you don't get that mileage doesn't mean that those who do are making it up.
  5. I'm glad somebodies is. My fuel trip meter has come on 5 miles before reserve and well after reserve has been hit and NO BARS left on the fuel gauge and anywhere in between. I never count on the fuel trip odo. Nope, I keep the petcock on and move to reserve when she starts to sputter. I also have my cup holder on the right side and most times it has a large McDonalds tea in it and I can't see the gauge. I have put 227 (roughly 217 on GPS) indicated on my Stock ODO with no bars and no fuel trip odo or low fuel light. BTW my speedo is off by 5MPH at 60 and my ODO is off by 5%. I usually get between 42 and 44 MPG according to GPS.
  6. Here is a slide show of our trip to Myrtle Beach during Bike Week 2008. I know it's late, but for some reason I procrastinate. There are two Ventures in here, one with a different back rest, passenger seat, and passenger arm rests. If anybody has any info it would be cool to find out where they came from. It was great seeing SleeperHawk and Mechanic there. We had a great day together. You have got to see the....... I'm not sure how to describe it, well you will know when you see it. http://s227.photobucket.com/albums/dd227/SaltyDawg83/Myrtle%20Beach%202008/?albumview=slideshow
  7. As Midrsv stated you will need to get buddyrichs cable for them to hear you.
  8. I ride to work everyday, rain, shine, hot, and freezing. The only thing I don't ride in is snow. So with that being said, I'm in.
  9. I can't see it from work, I can only assume it's the elephant one.
  10. Mini I called her about this yesterday morning, she has a summer cold and was medicated. Well she went on the site and ordered a T shirt from the company that makes the venturrider shirts. She totally missed your post. I never did get a straight answer on whether or not she wanted a rally shirt. I'm thinking she will get one. Just have to find out what size.
  11. Put me down for 1 3X. Thanks.
  12. A sears MC lift will work. You need blocks like Mariner Fan said or you could purchase a lift frame adapter from carbon_one they work great. Check the classified ads under 2nd Gen parts and accessories.
  13. Just remember that downloads are going to go as fast as the slowest link in the chain. If you connect to a site that's in the next city over the path might go through California. That is one of the reasons you should NEVER write anything in an email that you don't want the world to see. If you are downloading something from a site and one of the paths back to your computer is at 50k then that's as fast as you can download that file period. The rest of the path might be capable of and doing 1meg but 50k is the best you will get because of the slow link. Try canceling the download and restarting it a few times to maybe get a better return path. Also a lot of sites that allow downloads pay for bandwidth and they pay a pretty penny and limit the download speeds, on that note some sites do limit downloads unless you purchase a membership from them. So it may not be your provider that is the source of the slowdown. There are sites that allow you to test your speeds. I think I have that link at work, I will look for it and post it if I can find it.
  14. We can get together sometime and test the cable if you want. I have one of buddyrichs cables on my bike. Are U and Becky home from your vacation? Sounds like you had some interesting moments.
  15. What year and what color?
  16. More than likely you have to tweak the screw on the back of the horn. It will adjust the tone of the horn. I have heard of some horns stopping work and just needed the screw turned a little. The second horn I believe is located behind the left lower cowling. That's probably the one you are hearing it sounds muffled without the other one. Just take the horn off and you will see a screw on the back of it. Have someone hit the horn while you turn the screw.
  17. Pretty Nifty
  18. Not if they steal your video system. This sounds like a job for No experience with this place on security equipment but I have used their appliance control stuff when they first started out. Couldn't hurt to look. http://www.x10.com/homepage.htm

  20. My thoughts on the "Back Up" fuse is it keeps trip odometer, clock, and fuel gage information if you have those types of electronics on the bike.
  21. I believe it's the battery. I had no indications when my battery died. I went out to the bike turned the key on, lights came on everything looked good. Hit the starter the bike turned over for about 2 seconds and then EVERYTHING went blank. Zip, Zilch, NADA!! Checked the battery and had 12.7 volts, long story short I thought it was the ignition switch and in troubleshooting that found that when the ignition was turned on the battery voltage went to 0vdc. Thankfully Beer30 was able to trailer me home and then following Muffinman's suggestion I jump started the bike and she fired right up only to die as soon as the cables were taken off. Ended up being a shorted battery. Changed the battery and she has been purring along right nice.
  22. Get those a lot around here in the late Summer early Fall. Pretty neat to watch.

  24. That's the channel most truckers run on, you can get local info, bear (State Troupers) reports, and some very entertaining listening.
