Stopped by the dealer today was hoping they would just come out an look an listen but no such luck. They did tell me if it is the tape deck they will take it out an send it off to clarion to be repaired they couldnt remember the last time they had ever done one but a mech. told the young service guy it should be back in a week this sound about right. The speakers he said were no problem they were a Yamaha part. He tried to tell me the bike had a three year warranty but that didnt fly.

If you have the desire to learn then you can do anything. I too would stay away from the Hf welders. Lincoln Miller an Hobart make good at home machines for wire welding. You will not like the results of flux core wire a shielding gas works better either CO2 or argon. However it does not work well outdoors if there is a breeze. Its not hard to wire weld with a lil practice the hardest part is listening an watching the weld an knowing what it is doing an what it needs to perform better. Most home welders do not do a lot of overhead welding which to me is the hardest to do because i dont do enough to know how to set up the machine. I do know a wire machine doesnt weld overhead very well for me the nozzle stops up to quick. I have a Lincoln i think 225 i got at lowes for around 700.00 it came with a cd an booklet that be would very good for someone who has never welded. Find some scraps to put together an practice on varying thicknesses. when you find the sweet spot make a note of wire speed temperature an thickness of material welding for future ref. The initial investment maybe to steep for you but it will last a lifetime. If your like me your not rich enough to afford cheap tools I'm still using a lot of my grandfathers tools. The rewards of fixing something yourself is priceless an can be passed down from generation to generation. P.S. most machines will get cold enough but may only get so hot so size does matter to a degree. If your still interested I would suggest going to your local welding supply an talking with a knowledgeable sales rep. on the size for your needs then go somewhere else an buy it if there prices arent in line.

I have been noticing some crackle in two if my speakers with the radio on one front an one rear both left side. These should be covered under warranty right. Or is there a better speaker upgrade for these systems. Also the cassette deck quit an yes i use sometimes. Just wondering if I would be better off taking it in or upgrading the speakers myself replacing the rear speakers myself makes me kinda nervous .

Been reading some of the post on the clutch noise an not sure if i have the problem or not is this a warranty issue and if so can i find out if the previous owner has already had it done. This is my first Venture and it had 18000 miles on it when i got so it still sounds the way it did my first day so I'm not sure what to be listening for if that makes any sense.

I have noticed a rattle in two of my speakers one in back and one in front both on the right side. Still have warranty left so should be covered right. Also cassette quit this past weekend had to dig the tape out. Is it worth having the dealer replace the speakers or are there better replacement speakers out there. Can't decide on whether to have the tape deck replaced or not my late 70's early 80's collection showing a lil age. My dealer told me that clarion was the one to warranty repairs on the radio and you kind of get what you get on replacement he mentioned refurbished control as an example. What should i expect from my dealer. Has this been an issue for anyone like to have my guns loaded when i take it in if i need them.

Thanks everyone The vstar became painful after a tank of fuel on the venture we have already made a trip to Eureka Springs up the Pig Trail around town next day an then to Springfield Ms. an back to Eureka Springs the following day and back home the next. Mostly took our time all weekend we were tired after we got home in the rain but overall a great first trip. Was really surprised how dry we stayed with no rain gear. Did a round trip to Ft. Worth one Sat. about 400 miles the heat was miserable think i got wetter on that trip. That is probably the furthest we have been in one day but we took about a six hour break at my sisters checking out my brother in-laws 69 ss elcamino. Was kind of thinking about trying for Nashville the first day 532 miles according to yahoo maps an 8 hrs is that a reasonable travel time on a bike I would have thought it might take a bit longer.

No dumb questions right so what is seafoam an whats it for

We are planning around the 16th of October. 500 sounds like a reasonable distance I was thinking a lil further the first day to get us closer to our destination and maybe taking a little more time there and on the way home.

hello everyone taking a test ride here my name is Vincent Owen i live in sw Ar. finally got another bike after many years 07RSMV replacing a Vstar 1100 kids are gone an were ready to try our first long distance trip to eastern Tenn. It was suggested that i post questions here about any suggestions on making our trip pleasant. We have seven days to travel an limited space as you all are aware of. Just wondering whats a reasonable distance to travel a day and not be wore out I know that will vary from person to person. Suggestions on packing etc. Also any great reasonable places to stay in the Gatlinburg an Pigeon Forge area. Anything a newbie tourer might need to know. Experience is the best teacher but often has the hardest lessons
