A case of beer versus one hour of a shops time. Take them that long just to get it on lift after it's set there for no telling how. Even with traffic can't be over an hours ride. Take him up on the offer.

Fuel Gauge acting up on my 2007 Venture
playboy replied to Midnight's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I would much rather switch to reserve than trust an Idiot light (no pun intended ) and listen to my wife B!@#% the whole time shes pushing to the gas station.- 12 replies

Fuel Gauge acting up on my 2007 Venture
playboy replied to Midnight's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Recently on my 07 on the first tank of gas of our trip we ran out of gas I switched to reserve it picked back up and then the low fuel light came on DAH and the odometer started the count down. Never let the fuel get that low again.- 12 replies

Thanks a bunch so tired of swapping glasses all the time so I'm wanting to try the transition lenses. I can still see distance pretty good with my prescriptions but if I have to stop an look at a map will you know the drill. The paper mills are getting so strict on safety glasses with side shields I 'm going to have to something so might as well kill two birds with one stone. The 1.5 diopter bifocal safety glasses are to strong no one I've found has them any lower.

I know there are a bunch of you out there that can't see has anybody tried any of the rx safety glasses for riding. I,m needing a pair for work and riding. they must be wrap around design for work and wind protection on the bike. Yahoo listed several companies that supply these just wondering if anyone has used any of them and there results. who is good to do business with etc...

Another note besides the safety factor would you want to pay today's price on a tire that was produced several years ago. The study I mentioned found tire's being sold as brand new that were up to 10 years old. Kinda like paying full price for day old donuts.
-
From what I have read tires that are older than four years should have been pulled from inventory. Don't have the link but there was an earlier thread with it about a study on old brand new tires and there rate of failure I think the study was mainly on automotive tires. Yes its the aging of the tire that takes place once it is produced. Tire manufacturers are required by the DOT to change the date code in the mold every week.

As you asked I cant offer you a comparison from a vtx 1300 to a venture. But i did move up from a V Star 1100 as far as comfort goes its like getting out of a Chevy Vega into a Caddy. Handling at low speed takes some getting use to and there are things to improve that I have had mine about 6 months just finished an over 1600 mile trip in a week did like 400 something first day like it was nothing. The Vstar 1 tank of gas and we were about done. My wife gets mad if I ride solo so its always two up for us. She loves the smooth ride and her throne. It is a big machine but seems remarkably nimble at speed in my opinion. But do test ride one if you can it's like any other bike it is not for everyone. Good luck

Those Steve Wagner grills sure look nice and a lot more noticeable on the red and other colors.

between the seat and the steering wheel

Why? How about they don't want to be uncomfortable or inconvenient. I believe if you say that each person should decide what color t-shirt to wear to church, don't follow with 'I wear striped t-shirts because they are safer' If riding motorcycles is too dangerous or too expensive for you, don't do it Gary those cages have a big enough advantage they get all leather ed up they might really try to come after us and the texting would get worse if they wore helmets .

Thanks everyone for there replies. I feel confident i have the tire psi and the air in the shocks where they need to be for me and the wife together. The new tires and this change in air pressure of the suspension has already made a tremendous difference in handling. I'm going to give the leveling links a try and see how I like them I can make them and install them myself so cost will be minimal. Thanks to 1/2crazedbiker your post got me to thinking about my riding technique and may have uncovered a bad habit I didn't realize I had when it comes to braking. I've made it such a habit to use both brakes stopping that I maybe hanging on the front brake a second to long at the stop signs or releasing the back brake to soon. What you said about the front brake pulling which ever way your pointed kinda made the light come on and the foot technique also. Last week when I almost dropped her I'm not sure the front brake wasn't the culprit I was extremely frustrated that morning I will never go back to Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge on a bike we had been dealing with bumper to bumper traffic for three days I attempted a U turn that didn't go to well I just wanted out of there couldn't take it anymore and wasn't sure my clutch could either. Also thanks to those three Harley riders who struck up a conversation with us at the gas station. They took us under there wing and invited us to ride along with them. Got us out of town and showed us some beautiful scenery and some great roads for riding.

The wife and I just rode the Dragon on Oct. 17 and found it quite enjoyable both ways there were several sport bikes but a hole lot more cruisers everyone seemed very courteous and friendly, only saw a few cages. I too was pretty apprehensive about riding it but I'm glad I did and would do it again. Just stayed in my comfort zone and practiced looking where I wanted the bike to go ( after reading some of the safety threads and some sample clips off the ride like pro website) I was so amazed at how this works I had to slow down for laughing. After we got home my wife found some of our pics taken by some of the photographers, she had a big grin on her face. I will say it's not a road I would ride everyday it's fun but we found a lot of more relaxing roads nearby. Didn't see any Cops but my suggestion would be to go on a weekday and stay away on the weekends.

My votes for the pennant on the bike. I personally don't care for stickers on my bike but that's me, would like one for the back glass of my truck.

Well now that you mentioned it I remember when you got the new punk'n but it had slipped my mind. You going to dress it up an black out the headlights for Halloween Hope your enjoying your new ride I got to quit hanging around Yammerdan

already have a brand new set of Avons on stock sizes had the dealer install 3 psi in font as I dont have a pump yet an ran 47 psi rear riding two up just finished a trip of over 1600 miles an man what an improvement already. Long sweeping curves it was like you said V7Goose like riding on rails loved the bike that much more. Finally figured out the advanced search and found a lot of info on the links or struts. Guess I was a little quick on the trigger. Don't mean to beat a dead horse but is the heavy feeling in the front that I describe in fact the poor handling so many complain about.
