  1. Me again also noticed when I aired up the rear shock the bike raises about an inch or so at 46 psi does this come into play. while riding the dragon this week my wife told me we scraped one time couldn't find any evidence of it but after reviewing our pics online of our ride it was clear that if we in fact did scrape it would have been the mufflers floorboards were not anywhere close will the leveling links fix this.
  2. I have been reading a lot of the threads on leveling links some like them some don't and I can make my own. The problem I'm having at slow speeds an coming to a stop is if I let the front end much past center more like halfway between center and the stop it tries to pull itself all the way over to the stop. This is when i really notice the weight of the bike and what I think nearly caused me to drop it the other day. Took the bike to the dealer right after i bought it an had the front yoke bearings packed an adjusted and asked to have them a little tighter service manger told me he could only tighten them to specs. and explained how over tightening would cause irregular wear on the bearings and it made sense to me. All of this said is this the problem that leveling links will correct or something I have to get use to. In reading some of the other threads V7 Goose had replied that he had a thread on the subject of leveling links but cant find it or figure out the advanced search works to find it.
  3. IMHO If the weather permits taker for a ride build a fire an cook your hot dogs pick up some fancy buns at your local bakery or wally world bring along the Boones farm or something special she likes. Don't forget the blanket and a nice card. Spend a lil extra time planning and just surprise her. She knows the economy sucks but she will appreciate the extra thought you put into making it special. You don't always have to drop a load of cash to make them happy. HAPPY WIFE HAPPY LIKE:080402gudl_prv:
  4. That looks like it would be brand new to anyone what year model is it not very familiar with first gens but i like it. Love the color somebody have it hid out in there garage. Congratulations on a new bike.
  5. Made back home to my mouse. Now I can see what a real curb queen looks like been looking in the wrong places for those first gens. Correction on the PGR rider on the Dragon it was a two tone green one found his picture on one of the sites that take your picture riding the Dragon along with another midnight that i didn't see on the same day. Today 10/21/11 Silver or gray venture not 10 miles from home Hwy 41 south bound in Ar.
  6. Taking it Ez when you get to Arkansas give us a call if you want to set up a meat an eat we just got home from Tenn. today but we should be home tomorrow I can bring you some of the brochure's I mentioned. Were only 40 miles from Texarkana. If not have a good trip.
  7. If you haven't rode the pig trail and have time give it a try hwy 23 north of I 40 to Eureka Springs. Arkansas tourism has some pamphlets for riders laying out all kinds of rides in that area with maps and distance good stops and great views. The Elk should be bugling up in the park.
  8. I don't know the man but what a great testament to him this thread is and to this whole family. I haven't posted till now for not knowing what to say but I've been keeping track of him and keeping him and all of his friends in my thoughts. I get the feeling as me and my wife travel alone this week of having this whole family around us. Best group ride I have ever been on. GOOD LUCK Ponch and God Speed
  9. I'm the only stud on my midnight
  10. Any Goat skins for us Arkies we don't ride sheep
  11. Before YammerDan chimes in it wasn't because they were to fast
  12. My IPod screen must be to small Brakepad can't see them. I've look hard for some 1st gens but they all have turned out to be old GW's
  13. Not all of the weight on the kickstand I'm still supporting a lot of it. I'm sure others will agree that front brake is there for more than just getting a passenger on and off and sitting at a stop sign that's up hill do yourself a favor and learn to use it at the same time as the rear. If I understood your response correctly if not my bad.
  14. 10/20/11 pretty blue one I'm guessing 2011 Natches trace pkwy between Florence Al. And Tupelo Miss.
  15. Thanks for all the replies it gives me a little more confidence in my riding. To fuzzy I was in the left side of right lane if I had swerved left the BMW would have probably a$$ ended me. As far as the license plate number. LOL can only tell you it was a faded out red or maroon don't even no what make. Can tell you guys that most real truck drivers are very aware of there surroundings for your safety watch what's going on around them on the road so you can anticipate when they maybe getting into trouble it will keep you safer and help them do there job safer. I'm sure they will appreciate it and get out of your way as quick as they can. Hope this makes some sense it's hard to explain if you've never sat behind the wheel of one of these rigs. Hard to believe that these machines have so much in common when it comes to driving defensively. Biggest difference on the scoot it's your life in the truck it's probably someone else or a whole family. Muaymendez1 may agree or be able to explain it better.
  16. Yeah Joe I'm used to driving for me and everyone else I drive a log truck nearly everyday people don't pay attention. Kinda on the other end of things 85,000 lbs versus ? No contest but no driver ( not a steering wheel holder ) there is difference wants a win on his conscious . I hope one makes me better at the other. By the way I did wave at the cage afterwards:whistling:
  17. That's where I'm heading back home Dan. Still probably another 400 miles in Florence Alabama tonight and off to the Natches trace in the morning hope it warms up a little. Weather has sure been nice.
  18. 10/16/11 met Jim from Charlston 04 rsmv invited him to join 10/16/11 black red in Gatlinburg riding 2up 10/17/11 I think gold n black PGR banner on windshield on the dragon and again on either the Foothills Parkway or Cades Cove route.
  19. Stay the course Dan I've got some leaves you can rake too.
  20. 4 lane divided hwy traveling west I'm in right lane cage in left lane behind me another cage pulls out from side street turning west. Traveling 70mph grabbed both brakes an signaled left but cage behind closing to fast and not enough room that I felt I could safely stop. So I grabbed some throttle and used what little room there was about 2' on the shoulder and passed on the right. I know that's not a good thing to do but my gut told me it was my only option. I had just read Dons post last night and another one the other day on panic stops and praticing them at 80mph. Anything else I could have done besides rearending the cage. Any constructive comments you won't offend me.
  21. I just cant get over her quick reaction. It seems mounting and dismounting has been a problem that we finally have worked out. Kickstand down just about every time me leaning over the tank. Heck she was off, bike back up and her back on before I realized it was time to get out of the middle of the street like an idiot. Surprised I didn't bend the handlebars.
  22. My wife bless her saved our a$$ today tried making a u turn to get out of bumper to bumper traffic in Gatlinburg Tn. It was to tight an the bike went over at a dead stop was holding for all I was worth I'm 6'3 next thing I know she is beside the bike shoving us back up right without a scratch and then hops back on like it was no big deal. Still shaking my head because most the time she does good to get on and off. Was so proud of her and told her so what a gal even with her short legs. The highway peg did fold up about halfway that's how close it was.
  23. Passed one today on our tenn. Trip didnt know about it till tonight but. Can't post a pic with my iPod anyway.
  24. Have to admit I've never had this much fun spending money what scares me is the wife is all for it nothing holding me back. Not sure I'm mature enough for this responsibility.
  25. Not me my wife said I didn't look good on one and I like to look good every where I go
